They are expensive. How about $4.00 for a cup of hot water for tea .450.for 2rooms for two nights. Hard beds shared bathroom for all rooms on top floor. Their food servers where the only ones who were nice.

I called a week prior to arriving and made a reservation. I confirmed with them twice that my reservation was set and they assured me it was. They never mentioned needing a credit card over the phone, but when I called the day before arriving, they were rude and said they didn't remember talking to me and didn't have my reservation because I didn't give them a card. They did have an available room, so it ended up being fine.I knew I was going to a very old hotel and I knew there was limited electricity. However, old or not, a certain amount of upkeep is necessary. I've stayed in many very old hotels before with good experiences. The floors are about to fall in, the wallpaper is all peeling off the walls, the linoleum is peeling up off the floors, the stairs feel like they are about to collapse (they warn you before you walk up them), the carpet is filthy, and the hotel generally is not very clean and is very junky looking. Also, nowhere to charge your phone so bring a good car charger or portable battery. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. Also, they offer family dinner, which you have to order a week in advance. That is fine. However, they only offered us vegetarian or shrimp, $23/plate for either. I cannot eat shellfish, and they would not offer an additional meat, even one week in advance. Additionally, they refused to let me heat up food or refrigerate food. There is no where else to eat in town, therefore, some accommodation would have been greatly appreciated. They do offer food until 4pm, not sure why they couldn't have just cooked a burger for us for supper. We took PB&J.Lastly, they are simply not friendly. They don't greet you, they laugh and talk with others instead of checking you in, they never bother to speak to you. They don't act excited to have guests. It's sad. The Idaho Hotel and Silver City could be super neat...but. right now, it's trashy and rundown. I'd skip. Visit Boise National Forest instead.

Talk about some history!! This hotel was fantastic. We didn’t stay but they do have a few room available. You can get lunch or dinner there as well. I love old buildings and this one was in my top 5. Stop by and check it out. The nice lady at the counter in the caffe told us some great stories. There’s also books on the tables with some of the history in them.

Located on a high mountain in a historic mining town, the Idaho Hotel has a amazing atmosphere. It even has a small museum and a few hotel rooms still open for quests. Great cheeseburgers and pie and, if you didn't bring a picnic lunch, the only place to eat in Silver City, Idaho.

Stellar is a simple way to describe both this place and it's staff. So, this hotel is not your average place. It's 160 years old, in a ghost town, and running on (limited) solar power. That said, it is VERY important you set your expectations properly. This isn't the normal hotel, this isn't a Hilton Garden Inn, but it's something entirely different. No TV, essentially no WiFi (though I believe they have a mobile Hotspot in a pinch), and a place because of its HIGHLY remote and rustic nature that you need to bring a battery backup for your phone (there are essentially no electrical outlets). IMPORTANT NOTE: T-mobile and ATu0026T work up there, Verizon doesn't. Now that we have that out of the way, this place is a piece of history run by some of the nicest people you could ask for. The town is only accessible 3 or 4 months a year and this is the only restaurant and hotel in the town. Dinner is reservation only and family style, but the food was fantastic. Amazing steak and potatoes one night followed by incredible pork loin the next night. The menu is planned in advance and you must reserve several days in advance. The staff truly cares about your comfort and did some great things to accommodate my friend recovering from recent dental surgery. It is rustic, old, and almost roughing it, but it's a special place with a special experience and a special group of people helping to preserve it. Prepare in advance, bring your hiking shoes, know that you have to ride on a dirt road over a mountain to get there (TAKE YOUR TIME AND BE SAFE)...but when you do all of that, you will know why my praise is so high and why you should not miss this place!! P.S. Possibly the best natural tap water and unsweetened tea in Idaho.

Silver City has been a favorite place for many years. Love going up there occasionally just to walk around and enjoy the place and visit with people. I’ve always wanted to stay and eat in the hotel but haven’t yet. Love the history here!
