Worst experience ever! Like pulling teeth to get someone to communicate with you. Waited one and a half hours for someone to call me at our appointment time...nothing. the dog we wanted will half to wait for his forever home....we are looking elsewhere!

I saw you guys on the news recently about having too many surrenders. I have no idea why humane societies are like this. But here are some ideas to make the place better...have nicer staff members, stop treating every single person who walks in the door like they are going to abuse animals and being beyond nit picky, and stop overpricing mutts. Simple as that. Although I am glad people are rescuing dogs. I think I am sticking with my breeders for now.

I love this place that is truly here for the animals more than a pay check, and that you can definitely see and feel. We need more people like this.

My husband and I got our sweet Zumi that loves children and other animals, from MCR 3 1/2 years ago. After having a stroke last year I have intense exhaustion and my husband and I decided that we needed to surrender Zumi back to MCR because when seen by the vet, it seems she might have a kneecap out of place but that a surgery wont guarantee a fix with her leg and we just dont have the money to just see if it fixes it. She can walk on her legs but she can't take walks because her legs are weak. My husband is 75 and still working because we need the income and just dont have the resources for Zumi. We put an intake in for a surrender back on January 20, 2022 and just have had the complete runaround (by them emailing every 2 weeks that they are looking for a foster home and still have no options) with her being surrendered back, they even suggested that we try to find another rescue that could take her in, which we had signed papers with MCR to surrender her back before readopting her out. So now they wont take her and by law we aren't allowed to take her elsewhere! We are at our wits end and do not recommendation this facility.

When signing a contract from a rescue, they are supposed to honor a surrender back with an animal is what I believe to be true. We submitted paperwork to surrendering our dog back due to my husband and I no longer being able to care for our dog due to us having medical issues. We have gotten the full runaround and when we brought up that we can't wait any longer, after waiting 3 months so far and are having medical issues, they are no longer communicating with us, which is so completely rude. This makes me no longer trust in any rescue. Where is our voice "We the people" when we need help and want a good future for our dog. Meridian Canine Rescue is not for people or animals since they have shown us they do not care.

Found a stray (has a collar, super sweet girl, absolutely malnourished) and they refused to take her because they ONLY take surrenders. They don’t care about dog rescue as much as they make it out

They Make sure the adoption is good for everyone in the house. Including your other animals. You could go there in an enclosed outside area and play with them, love of them and spend time with them to make sure it's a good match.
