Prices for used donated items are absolutely ridiculous. It used to be fun to shop or donate but Idaho youth ranch is greedy and I will not shop here again or until they come back to earth and lower their prices for God's sake

This is specifically about donating items at the Meridian location. My mom and I have separately had bad experiences. The staff at the donations are very rude. My mom pulled up and was told “I hope you didn’t just bring us junk.” No hi or anything else. I just went a week ago where a lady laughed at what I brought and said “Oh so we’re supposed to try to sell this? You’ll need to dump this yourself.” And another time I was yelled at for not putting items in specific spots, when I was trying to get things out of my car so they could get the huge line moving. We’ve agreed to take items to places anywhere else. You’d think at a site where they wouldn’t have a store without donations, they’d be nice to customers.

Went to donate I called them from next-door as St. Vincent de Paul‘s donation center closed at four and the lady on the phone seemed sweet and told me that I had 10 more minutes because their donation drop off closes at 5 PM so she said come on over and so I headed right next door, pulled in the parking lot, and the lady in charge of the donation drop off area was so rude. I couldn’t believe it. I asked her if I was in the wrong spot and she told me that they cannot take any more stuff and I told her what the gal said on the phone and then she just got really pushy and snippy and we argued at the back of my car because the back of my vehicle is automatic and she kept trying to push it up with her hands. I kindly told her that’s going to break it and she told me she didn’t have to take my stuff. I try to explain to her that , I didn’t appreciate the rudeness and I was just trying to donate some really nice stuff to them. She eventually apologized for her snappiness and told me it had just been a long day. I asked who she was. She stated she was the manager. I understand we all have hard days, but to take it out on people that are merely just wanting to donate to your organization is probably not the smartest when this is what keeps your business thriving. Needless to say, I will never donate to this place again I will go elsewhere.

The store & Merch are great, but the old lady in the front, not so much, very rude, she acted as the ringing up an item was somehow beneath her, the place would be better off without her.

Old lady at the front is rude. Wouldn’t show my a book even though she just checked me out told me to get in the back of the line and she’s help me when she got back to me. Rude as can be.

Some items are a bit high on price. Friendly staff. I like going early as there’s less people around.

One of my least favorite thrift stores. They’re following suit with savers and jacking their prices up on everything! Things that aren’t worth the price! They don’t even offer coupons for donating which is absurd. The greed took over and they forgot they were a thrift store. It’s a shame.

This place while it might be rooted in good intentions is ruined by the absolutely rude and what I would call lazy workers. This review is also for the drop off area for donation only...I have been now several times and today would be the last time. Like my 1st experience they have this 1 at a time system while 6-8 people stand around and do absolutely nothing. The other part is how picky they are while I looked around at literally a bunch of junk while the workers acted totally snobby to what I dropped off on both times. BTW nothing I dropped off was short of name brands like Pottery Barn, West Elm, Coach, Kate Spade Etc...the gut check for this place should be that what your getting is "Free" and then you sell for 100% profit to go for whatever cause this is supporting. I would go back to an old saying that "you can attract more bees to honey than to salt"...the Goodwill down the street is a whole different experience and I would highly suggest dropping your items off there and drive right by this place.

WORST place on earth. Some bat-shit crazy woman named Ruby has no clue what is antique or collectable and thinks anything more than 10 minutes old is collectable. Prime example, Beach Boys LP record, unplayable condition $45!! Fire this Ruby person as she is costing you a fortune in unsold junk she thinks should be way over-priced. I used to shop at IYR weekly and found some nice usable things at a reasonable price, not for the last 3 years, all junk all the time. It is morally WRONG that you should try and maximize profits to unsuspecting consumers on goods that were DONATED!! Get back to being fair priced. You have lost a great deal of customers; I hear it every day all day!!

One of the biggest youth ranch stores in the valley. If you're looking for toys or housewares, this location is your best bet. We found some great deals on bakeware and kitchen utensils. My son found interesting bargains in the tools and outdoor area. Definitely worth a trip to check it out.

Way overpriced for people's used junk. I can buy a lot of the stuff you all sell and mark up on ebay for cheaper. Aren't you supposed to be a charity?

The donation people in the back are the rudest I have ever come across. The lady had an attitude because I couldn't come up with "how many bags and boxes", because I didn't have it organized like that. They seemed to be annoyed because we had a good bit of stuff, but I thought these places thrived on donations? Not only did she have a nasty attitude, when they started unloading our stuff, they took about half, then another woman comes up being so freaking rude saying "we can't take this, there's dirty diapers and everything is filthy" um, there was a little dust and I'm sorry, they were not dirty diapers, they were loose in a bag. Tried to claim our clothing were stained when they absolutely were not, they just didn't want to deal with it and I knew it from the moment they saw our truck. I will donate to st. Vincents from now on,they actually help the community and are not in any way EVER ugly to us when we have donated before. The youth ranch has become overpriced, and the treatment we got today just affirmed I no longer need to shop there. I don't know what happened, but this is not the place it used to be. Make sure everything you donate is pristine or name brand, and only bring a couple things, otherwise they will treat you like garbage. Sorry I thought my used clothing, diapers (which I've seen loose in bags before In the store numerous times) baby toys, shoes etc. Would be better going to someone who could use it than the trash. They are all about profit now it seems. Makes me very sad. At first I thought I was over reacting, but my very rational boyfriend was even upset, we didn't deserve to be treated like we were bringing them bags of trash when it was perfectly good clothing and other items. If I can edit I'll post some pics tomorrow showing what we were intending to donate!
