I requested cancellation on December 27th, instead they withdrew funds from my bank without Authorization! This is a serious breach of trust.

Four months after suffering damage caused by a customer of Auto Owners Insurance I am STILL waiting for restitution of my loss! The adjuster, Todd Scarborough, is incompetent and has treated me as if I was his customer instead of the party who was injured by his customer. He had proof of my claim four months ago and it is still not settled.

I have been a customer of Auto Owners for 15 years. I had my home, auto and business insured with them. I had a truck, enclosed trailer along with its contents stolen in November of 2022. You don't truly discover what insurance is like until you have to make a claim. Many months of back and forward to get the claim started, then a lot of receipts required from as far back as 2007. Even with all the proper data required, much of this was dismissed or way under valued. It wasn't until the truck was recovered three months later in Las Vegas that the claim process really started. It was a good thing that the truck was recovered for some proof needed in the claim. Too many details to list here. The adjuster was denying some of claims with a lack of forced entry. Having proof of forced entry was able to get a $50K payout.Since I don't live in the area and wanted to recover the truck. The process of recovery was left to me to deal with with no help from AO! The adjuster of AO just wanted the truck to be released to CoParts to make it go away in their terms. (Coparts is an auto graveyard where you will never see your vehicle again.) Once the truck was transported to local ford dealership, the process of repairs took almost two months with a lot of back and forward, again no help. Then the value of the truck and repairs started with a lot of low ball offers. If you have been in the market for a vehicle in the last two years, you will know the replacement vehicles are not inexpensive. In the end a lot of effort was made to get the truck back with undervalued pay out and totaled title. The truck did not need to be totaled, as repair estimates were inflated. The trailer was never recovered and the paid out was way under the insured value. Actual Cash Value is not what you think, it is what you paid and devaluing from there, no market infraction adjustment made. So don't expect to have enough pay out to purchase a like vehicle with AO. I would avoid Auto Owners insurance company if you were looking for customer service and value in our policy.

Had a horrible incident (worst birthday ever) and Auto Owners came through for me. Because it involved both my boat and tow vehicle, it resulted in 2 separate claims with 2 departments: auto and boat. What could have been an even worse nightmare resulted in a FAST, CONVENIENT, and FRIENDLY resolution of the claims and in a speed that I previously thought unthinkable. Clear and easy communication and great guidance by all involved. I'm so lucky to have been with Auto Owners when this very unfortunate event happened!!

Our car got a flat on the highway, we put our spare on only to find out it was flat as well. Called the roadside assistance number given by auto owners and were told they couldn’t find us as clients. Called auto owners cutomer service line and were told that yes that has been happening alot lately and there was nothing they could do! That we would have to find our own roadside assistance company and they will reimburse us! It took 4 hours to find one that came out to help us. We were not in the middle of nowhere, We were just outside Ontario Oregon heading to Boise. It was snowing hard and feet from the highway. The company said they were aware of the problem and would note the account. I asked would the company refund my payment of roadside since it was not possible and not my fault, doubt it. We will be filing a complaint with BBB and calling our lawyer while finding a new auto insurance! They are cheap for a reason! Please please be aware!

Have a claim against this company for damage to a new home caused by their insured. A plumming company. Severe water damage. It's been six months they refuse to pay. Their response (Heidi, Matt Ballenger) claims people. Their solution was have your own insurance pay. Kids were homeless in a motel they still deny claim. These two claims people are dishonest misleading and don't do as they say when claim was made Heidi said each thing damaged was a separate claim. Then when they had to pay a claim all of a sudden they make it one claim. They say they need the broken part. Now do you think they will be able to get paid back from a Chinese manufacturer of a brass elbow. Now our house is getting lein on it for bills not paid. Over 35k damage in a new home. As of Nov 29 the still no claims paid! Don't use them dishonest, have state representative state ins commision investigation be conducted along with attorney general consumer affairs. Better business bureau. Watch out they laugh right in your face. Don't trust Heidi or Matt Ballenger at auto owners ins!

Their roadside assistance is a joke. If you actually NEED assistance, better off calling your own tow truck. Almost like they just sit on your request for 45 minutes before actually looking for someone to dispatch. If you're in trouble, don't call them.

When Shane Gropp showed up at our house to examine our water damage, I'm not sure what I was expecting... maybe more arguing? ? But Shane was pleasant and professional and awesome to work with. I truly felt that he wanted to help us get as much insurance coverage as possible (again, NOT what I expected). He explained everything clearly and sent detailed info via email so I knew what to expect next. I'm super impressed with Auto-Owners Insurance now that I've seen them in action, and I'm grateful that we chose them for our home insurance!

While staying in a hotel our suv was hit in the middle of the night. The driver left the scene so no one could be held accountable. This was the first time I’ve ever had a vehicle severely damaged and I hated the thought of dealing with the insurance company, not to mention the inconvenience of not having my car. From the first call to my agent, to the release of my totaled car everything was completely effortless for me. I hung up from the adjusters phone call and immediately received a text with my rental car information. They handled everything with speed, kept me well informed, and thank goodness gave me a very fair settlement on my car. My agent and the adjuster both made this bad situation an easy and painless process. I’m so grateful my agent recommended Auto Owners for all my insurance needs.

The insurance adjuster will lie left and right, they are trained to do that. The policies are written so it essentially covers nothing. Don’t expect anything from them. Awful customer service line - always hangs up and forever loops messages.I’ve spent months trying to prove my claim is covered and have had several attorneys argue it as well.Worst insurance company. All the high-ratings are a lie. Worst experience ever with insurance. I had both home and car policies.
