We were really happy with our experience at the hillside suites and will definitely return. The room we stayed in was a little dusty, but ultimately clean, comfortable and had GREAT amenities. We loved the full-sized fridge and were thrilled to discover thoughtful details like the coffee, coffee pot, dishware, dish soap, etc. We also appreciated the incredibly comfy beds, excessive amount of pillows and plenty of fluffy towels. The TV was easy to connect to and the ceiling fans were perfect for those of you that prefer to sleep with the fan on. Despite being a high-traffic area to the bar, the rooms were incredibly and surprisingly quiet and private. The location was ideal and somewhat central for main street activities and offered AMAZING VIEWS off of the balcony for late night hangs or morning coffee. We had no issues with parking and liked every staff member we encountered. Looking forward to staying again!

This place is amazing if you don’t mind no-contact, which we didn’t. It was our first experience at Lava and they had it all ready when we arrived so we walked right into our room, no fuss. Plenty of space. They had dishes and a hot plate so we went right out and grabbed some eggs and bacon for the morning. We LOVED the beds. All of us independently commented on how comfortable they were. Great views, fun outdoor space—some shared some mostly private (if it was warmer we would have enjoyed the patios, they even had corn hole in our room for us if we wanted), and lots of options for add ons like a BBQ, traeger, fire pit, etc. Some reviewers mentioned bar noises. We were in the closest room to the bar and didn’t hear a thing—but also it was winter… ??♀️Potential downsides:-We were up 3 flights of stairs. Not a biggie for us but could be for others—the higher the letter of your room, the more flights.-It was a little weird that the “kitchen” sink was also the one for the bathroom.-If you have an issue and need “contact” the first option was the bartender in the bar above the suites. ?.

Horrible customer service! Made reservation and then tried to reschedule because of unforeseen circumstances. I was told they could not do that and if I didn't keep my booking I'd lose my $450... On their website theirs no info listed on cancelations, only upon them charging you and booking us done. Then it says " while house bookings and holidays" has a 30 day cancelation policy. Pretty sure I didn't book the whole house??? Very bad customer service, don't recommend this place.

I usually stay at home hotel lava. For a change of pace, my friends and I decided to try this new bar/ hotel. I was initially SO excited. We got to our room and were pleased. A while into the stay, we received a knock on our door, and it was from a lady who worked for the hotel stating that the circuit breaker is located in our room and she needed to access it. Why is the circuit breaker located in our room anyways...??? She proceeded her way into our room (H) where the breaker is and moved the bunk bed to access it. She came back down a short while later stating she needed to flip the circuit breaker again. Being understanding, we allowed her back into our room to flip it a second time. Our room is located directly below the bar. We were standing out on the patio when a man from the bar yelled down, "Can I come check the breaker?". I stated, "Do you work here," he replied, "No, I'm cousins to the owners." I said, 'No, he is not allowed to come into our room. " I'm not going to allow some strange man from the bar into our room just because he CLAIMS to be related to the owner. How are we supposed to verify this?? He then started yelling down, cursing at us. We called the hotel lobby to inform them of this guy and to tell them that it made us uncomfortable. The guy on the phone apologized for this experience. Shortly after, a different girl from the hotel came to our room and asked AGAIN if she could flip the breaker!!! We talked with her and explained what happened with the guy at the bar. She told us that's her fiances family, and she is sorry for any inconvenience. We shook it off and left. Later in the evening, we decided to go back up to the rooftop bar to get a last drink and play Janga. We had fun initially. We were finishing our drinks when one of the girls approached us and said, "we are closing soon, but don't rush." Literally, 3 seconds later, the other girl shut off the lights to the bar, leaving us sitting in the dark.... awkwardly, we got up to leave.. when walking out, we told the ladies that the hotel was great, but that one experience with the guy rubbed us the wrong way. One of the girls said, " I sent him down to check the breaker and that he does work there. I informed her that HE told us he did NOT work there... as we were leaving the bar, one of the girls began laughing at us when we were explaining that we didn't want a strange man in our going into our room of girls. I was extremely disturbed by her response to our genuine concern. I looked at her and asked if she was genuinely laughing at us. Their response and lack of professionalism to paying customers is shocking. I FOREWARN ANYONE ABOUT TO STAY HERE. THE HOTEL ITS SELF IS GOOD BUT THE STAFF IS IMMENSELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND BAD-MANNERED TO GUESTSI will not be staying here again and heed a warning to anyone else considering staying here.

Absolutely loved this location and my interaction with staff initially. The rooms are SO cute. Almost perfect actually. But, DO NOT stay in room H. We repeatedly had staff members coming into our room to fix the breaker. Which we were very accommodating to and wasn't a huge deal. After the 2nd time a man came down - who we weren't familiar with asking to come into our room and look at the breaker. After we asked if he worked here - he said no. So we told him no that he couldn't and started swearing at us and telling us he knows the owners. We tried to just get past this after a sweet girl came down and tried to fix the breaker again and smooth things over.So we went up to the bar later to try and just have some fun. At the end of the night when they were closing - we mentioned a discount and we told them we had a very good experience except for the guy that was very aggressive. She started laughing at us and saying he does work here. So, it's very confusing whether he works here or doesn't. At this point, we got so upset and could not handle how things have been handled here. The vibe here is amazing but you probably will be let down by the customer service and the outright disrespect.

Regardless, it isn't very practical, nor does it make guests feel safe when employees have to access our room repeatedly. This particular bartender did not seem to care about our feelings regarding the matter. At this point, we got so upset and could not handle how things were being handled here. Well I booked 2 rooms at this location for the reason they had a rooftop bar. I had a family of five I was trying to give them a great experience. The evening I checked in got settled and was ready for a drink ....we all walked up the stairs to the bar only to find out he was closing it down for the night....it was not even 7 o clock yet. I was very disappointed cause the rooms are on the pricey side and I did not even get to experience the bar ....hope they reach out to me and maybe make it right??The hot pots and river were great as usual.....Rooms: Rooms are ok for where your staying.Nearby activities: Float the river it's fun. Hot pots always feel amazing.Safety: Lots and lots of stairs.Walkability: Everything is within walking distance thank God cause we could not go to the bar I paid to use....disappointed.

There are some pros to staying here and some cons as wells. The beds and pillows were hard and if you’re in a room close to the rooftop bar, it’s pretty noisy at night. The room has a window fan that seems to double as a white noise machine, but if you turn it off, it still runs so unfortunately there’s always noise when you try to sleep - good for some people, but not preferred for me. There’s also nowhere to get extra towels, toilet paper, etc. so if you run out, you’ll figure out what to do. Also, bring slippers for the room because while there are a couple rugs, majority of the floor in your room is textured concrete. On the bright side, you’re close to food, shopping, grocery market, pool, hot springs and more. The rooms were also really clean and offered more space than a regular hotel/motel.So depending on what’s important to you, this may or may not be your next stay in Lava.
