Nimiipuu Health is a clinic owned and operated by the Nez Perce Tribe. You have to be a native American or Eskimo to get care there. The providers are good and do there best. The problem with Nimiipuu Health and all other tribal health centers is because they do not need to follow US laws. For example, the TRIBAL PREFERENCE policy says that native Americans will be hired preferentially over non-natives so long as they meet the minimum requirements for the job. A vastly more qualified non-native will be passed over. In essence, TRIBAL PREFERENCE is a form of legalized racial discrimination. The policy allows the tribe to discriminate against non-natives on hiring. A second issue stems from the policy known as SOVEREIGN IMMUNITY. The tribe can do pretty much whatever they want to you including violate their HR manual, alter employee records, use you for 89 days and then fire you for no reason the day before you become eligible for health insurance. Yes, they make you wait 90 days for benefits. And there is nothing you can do because they have SOVEREIGN IMMUNITY. They can screw you over and you have no recourse. The care for patients is OK. But if you are non-native DO NOT go to work for Nimiipuu Health. You will likely regret it.
