This was an unbelievable surprise. Food was delicious served family style by a one-person show. They're the chef the server and the dishwasher. I recommend this place for a special dinner. All in advance for reservations.

This lodge is open 2023, although Google has posted it's closed. We are locals who have dinner at the lodge several times each season. This is a very well run and relaxed environment. The ambiance is amazing.Food & drinks: Delicious home-style food. Each night is a different choice. BYOB is allowed. Beautiful setting in a historic lodge.

Stopped by on the recommendation of a local, and I'm very glad to have done so!One of the oldest buildings in Idaho state- initially built as an inn for travellers, it was converted into a ranch and now is an attraction for fly fishing. They have cabins, a large communal building, a big creek out back for private fishing, and plenty of wildlife in the area. The structures themselves are gorgeous and a treat for anyone with an interest in turn of the century architecture. Tons of character and interesting things to see.If I were a fly fishing or historical enthusiast, this is the place I'd go! The staff are great- specifically Alonzo- the food phenomenal, and the whole area is just a great experience.

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. This review is based on the stay at our rustic cabin. It may be that the other rustic cabins are in much better shape. Cost was $378/night, which included 3 meals. THE GOOD: Dinners were excellent. Alfonzo is a great chef. Breakfast good. Sack lunch OK. Note that you can stay elsewhere and eat dinner here. Scenery is superb. A very pretty and relaxing setting on a small lake. Staff is friendly and attentive. THE BAD: Lighting in the cabin is mostly marginal. This could easily be fixed. Hot water faucet (sink) barely turned on. This could easily be fixed. Front door does not close, not even close. Lots of openings in log walls where mosquitoes can and do come in. If you've been camping you know the high pitch wining noise you hear when you are trying to go to sleep. Only the tent is well sealed and you can kill a few and be done with it. Not here. And we had a bat, yep a real live bat, flying around inside of our living room area. The frustrating thing is that the BAD items above could be easily corrected by paying a contractor/handyman $200 make some adjustments and seal the cabin. Seems like the right thing to do when you are charging folks $300+ per night. As noted above, our cabin's condition may not be representative of the other cabins on the property.

We really didn't set out to visit the Elk Creek Ranch but are really glad we did. One of our friends is an avid fly fisherman and he and his wife invited us along on a road trip that included a stay here. The missus and I are very glad we tagged along. To properly frame this review I think it has to be made clear what this place is and what it is not. If you're looking for the Ritz Carleton experience - this is not your place. It is a proper old school fishing lodge and it is outstanding at being just that. The cabins are rustic, full of character and solid. Very comfy. The stay includes breakfast, a bag lunch and dinner. I was ready for mediocrity but instead had a great series of meals. A beautiful end cut prime rib one night, succulent fresh salmon and roast turkey the next. So good that locals would go there for dinner even if not staying at the ranch. Delicious breakfasts daily were another bonus. Unexpectedly yummy. We really enjoyed Chef Alonzo and his team. Easy 5 stars. My buddy was catching fish left and right - catch and release. He was very happy. Being an shutterbug if we ever go back I'll look for a nice moonless night because I bet the night photography there would be epic. Recommended.

One of the most magical and wonderful experiences ever! It's as though you stepped back into early 1950's. A historic setting with great views, great food and great company!!! Thanks Alonzo!

Fantastic dinner in an incredible rustic lodge on the beautiful Elk Creek. The service was impeccable and the salmon we had was to die for! It will be hard to decide when we go back if we should go back on the same night to get the salmon again or one of their other amazing options that all sound tasty! Highly recommend!

Our meal for 8 guests was fantastic. The server was very efficient and extremely polite. You cannot go wrong spending an evening in a rustic environment with a beautiful view of trees and water.

Great Rustic Idaho Setting! Pond is stocked with fish, beds are comfy, and if you're lucky enough to get rain the tin roof should put you straight to sleep. Alonso is a top notch chef and the staff is very friendly! Highly recommend!

The food is fantastic. We had the pork tenderloin with apple chutney. Then peach huckleberry cobbler for dessert. Can’t wait for the breakfast tomorrow. Beautiful views of the lake from the lodge. The lodge was built in 1900 the oldest original building in Island Park. Cute rustic cabins spread throughout the property among the trees.

The food and staff could not be better nor more engaging. Good fishing from even lake shoreline. My problem is the owners aren't putting any $ into maintenance. Cabins are quaint but where are smoke detectors? Our cabin had a rainfall of water around the fireplace and electric wiring was not done by any skilled person. The apartment in the lodge does not meet fire codes in that it does not have required fire wall nor separate egress from the facility kitchen. Linen was torn and staff was unable to replace. Again its not the staff, they are 5 stars but this physical facility and out buildings do not meet minimum safety. Beware where you sleep. Quaint is not safety.

We ate a wonderful dinner on Saturday night. The menu was beef tenderloin, filet mignon style, oven roasted potatoes, broiled beef steak tomato, salad bar, homemade warm beer bread, and scrumptious carrot cake! Everything was delicious and prepared and presented with care and flair. Only one menu item is prepared each night and reservations are required. A bit tricky to find but so worth it. Recommend highly! You don’t have to be staying at the resort, we weren’t. If you’re in the Yellowstone area, try Elk Creek Ranch for a dinner.
