I have an angry chihuahua and the staff treated him so good. Most of his charts have a danger sticker but they really knew how to handle a chihuahua.

I'm not a person who writes reviews, but for this experience I strongly felt I needed to share my story. I've been breeding Maine Coon cats for 10 years and it's always been difficult for me to trust my babies to anyone. A sensitive situation arose, and I found it impossible to get understanding or help from any veterinarian in Oregon where we reside. I'm not going to identify the issue, but I will say a lot was at stake. I slowly called further away from where we live when I can across Dr. Deborah Peele. She patiently listened to my story and instantly said "I can help you". So, 6 days later my husband, our 8-month-old Maine Coon and I were on a plane to Coeur D Alene, ID. We were greeted as if we'd been coming to this clinic for years. The front desk gal was friendly and inviting. We left our boy at 8am feeling confident. The day dragged on, and the clinic texted us every couple of hours keeping us updated. We were extremely nervous about the procedure, but Dr. Peele assured us all would be fine. We picked our boy up and he was doing great. We felt he was attended to well. We stayed the night in Coeur D Alene and returned to Oregon the next day. The clinic has kept in contact with us making sure our boy was doing well. Thank you, Dr. Peele and Hayden Pet Medical Center for helping us through this difficult time and getting our boy to a place he needed to be.

Our cat got a UTI and they were able to squeeze us in the morning of without being a patient, which I am still so grateful for! We moved back to the area from Sandpoint not too long ago, so we didn't have a local vet set up yet. Upon arriving I met with a technician who already had a procedure plan laid out before even examining our cat (ultrasound and urine test and potentially blood work), and you had to sign the paperwork up front. I did find it odd signing for treatment before they examined the pet, as I'm used to clinics looking over the pet and then determining the plan of action, not the other way around. We worked with Dr. Sussman, and after the first visit we weren't really given an exact diagnosis, so it was very confusing in what was going on and how we were supposed to go about treating our cat. We were presented with 2 options: antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication, or x-rays and potential surgery depending on what was found. They were also wanting to do blood work. I understand lab work for senior cats is more expensive, but we were looking at almost $300 for lab work, and then the medication alone (one lasting for 3 days the other for a week) was over $100, and then several hundred dollars more for the x-ray and then thousands for surgery. The doctor seemed insistent that regular scientific practice would be to do the x-rays/surgery, but we were not prepared to spend that kind of money out the gate when it seemed like all our cat had was a UTI (even though she was not directly saying it). I know someone who had just had their cat brought in to another vet for a severe UTI infection that they could have died from, and all they had done was a urine sample (no ultrasound needed), given fluids, prescribed medicine and food and the cat turned out perfectly fine (all for $179). We decided to go the "conservative" route and try the medications before going to the extreme, and that left us paying $331. Over the course of talking everything over the phone with Sussman, she was not courteous by any means, and I felt I ended the call with more questions left unanswered than answered. When we went back to pick our cat up, we waited for 45+ minutes, and when someone asked if we had been helped they acted surprised to see us sitting there, and then went back and got our cat immediately. So, I think we were completely forgotten about. The medication ended up clearing up our cat's urinary issues, so we are glad we went this route! We took our cat in for a follow up visit and when Sussman called to let us know the news she acknowledged that our cat had had a UTI (something that was not being directly stated during our first conversation, which I found odd). She began asking where we were planning on taking our cat for future vet visits. I said that I was going to do some shopping around because I personally can't afford $200+ vet visits every single time for a cat who might only be with us for a few more years with all of the other expenses we have currently, to which she chuckled. I decided to overlook the rude response and continued to thank her for her help and the info she provided, to which she only said, "Okay." In my personal opinion, if you are receiving hundreds of dollars from a single client alone who is supporting your practice, you could at least respond with a, "My pleasure." Maybe all of her clients are wealthy and I am the one who is middle-class. I'm not sure, but I don't find it appropriate to chuckle at someone who is looking to save when possible. When we picked up our cat, we waited 20 minutes with no one in the lobby and ended up paying $205 for a guided urine extraction. Overall, it seemed like it was being encouraged to spend as much money for this process as physically possible, and had I not done my research I feel I would have gone the x-ray/surgery path as Sussman was recommending. I have never spent so much money for 2 vet visits before in all my years of owning animals. The cost to clear up my cat's UTI cost only a hu

I had to put my mini Australian Shepherd to sleep due to cardiac issues. This is not the time for staff and vet to be in the hallway and room next to me laughing away loudly. The most unprofessional, insensitive thing to take place at such a painful time. Unacceptable and hurtful behavior.

The time has come for me to share my experience with Hayden Pet Medical Center. It's been four days since I had to put down my wonderful yellow lab, Kayla. As I reflect on that day and write this review, through my tear stained fingers, I cannot have chosen a better place to bring her to for our final moments together. I woke that morning and I knew something was wrong. Whether your child or pet, a parent knows best when something just isn't right. I called another local vet that I had taken her to just over a year ago and they said they were full, they could not take her. They offered an appointment at the end of the month (16 days from now). I told them she'd probably be dead by then. They then offered to have me show up the next day at 7 am as a walk-in to see if they could squeeze us in, but no promises. My girl needed help, and she needed it today! The emergency clinics they referred me to in Spokane, Post Falls, and CDA all had such horrible reviews. I was not going to subject her to that. I called around several other vets in the area and they were all full, so sorry. And then I called Hayden Pet Medical Center. The young lady on the phone said, "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. Hold on, let me talk to the Doctor to see what we can do". Within a minute, she returned and said, "Dr. Sussman can see her", and we were in there within the hour. The clinical staff greeted us right when we walked in the door, took Kayla's weight, and immediately escorted us back to a private room. Within a couple minutes, two clinical staff came in to ask us what was going on, took her vitals, and consulted with the doctor. Dr. Sussman came in and suggested blood work and x-rays, and she let us know what her initial concern was. Within 30 minutes, we had the results. A splenic mass had ruptured. She was bleeding internally. Dr. Sussman delivered the news with such amazing compassion and tenderness, being fully aware of the gut wrenching decision that an owner must make. She explained our two options, the expected outcome of each, and the costs for each one. Neither option was good news. I could see the discomfort in my four-legged girl's eyes. I could smell on her breath that she was dying inside. Yet, despite her trauma all she wanted to do was be with me, right by my side to be sure I was okay. Just like she's done every day these past 10 years. My two options clearly became one. They allowed me time to pick up my daughter, who lives 20 minutes away, so that she could say her final goodbyes. They brought Kayla to us in that private room and assured us we could take as long as we wanted. In the midst of our private time, one of the clinical staff quietly came in the room and said, "It's ok for her to have this now, if you'd like her to". A nice piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Wow, how she enjoyed that wonderful treat! Then it was time. My daughter exited a private side door that the clinic has for those who walk this path so that they don't have to pass with tears through the waiting room. They allowed me to stay with "Good Girl" while they prepped her for the procedure. I was allowed to be with her, face to face, as she drew her final breath. I looked in her eyes and she looked in mine. And then she was gone. They allowed me to remain with her for as long as I needed. I never felt rushed, never felt a burden, never felt like I was just a number. Rather, despite meeting the staff for the first time that day, they made me feel like I was part of their family and they were part of mine. They graciously presented me with keepsake options for my remembrance of her. One final head scratch, one final hug, one final kiss and then I left. Hayden Pet Medical Center, what word do you use when "thanks" seems so insufficient? As long as l live, I will remember the gentleness, compassion and availability you gave to our family. You are doing God's work for people like me. I will forever be indebted to you. Six Stars: that's Fi

Arriving without an appointment I was kindly greeted and explained my concerns about my Winston. Due to the delicate circumstances the nurse Dana took me right away. She showed me to a room with a comfortable setting. The doctors and nurse told me to take my time and explained my options. They went each step. The entire staff made every effort to console me as I made the heart wrenching decision to let Winston go. For a very difficult situation I could not ask for better care from their staff. Thank you

The people at HPM treated my pup so well. He can be nippy and is not happy in new situations. I was told he was a champ, but he did nip. He was provided with all he needed to have done and was a good boy. Everyone seemed to enjoy him and I left a proud, happy mama. If you have had a dog who is nervous, doesn't like the vet he/she is seeing try HPM.

My greyhound broke a toe four weeks ago. I am unable to lift him into the back of my SUV. So fortunately, they have chauffer service. They come pick him up and return him when he is done. He needs to have a bandage change weekly. Hayden Pet Medical Center has treated and taken great care of my boy. I am so pleased with the care and the service. I could not be more appreciative. I highly recommend Hayden Pet Medical Center.

What a wonderful experience. I have been a client for years, and experienced the loss of my beloved pet. Not only was everyone so sweet and kind, they went out of their way to make sure that I was at peace. I highly recommend this office.

This vet has acted criminally against us. We brought in our pet rat, Hazel because she was very sick. We dropped off Hazel to see Dr. Huddleston since Dr. Peale was unavailable. Huddleston reviewed Hazel for about ten minutes. Huddleston stated we should put Hazel to sleep because she lost half her weight and she wasn't responding. Now hold on, 1) we asked for a treatment plan, not eithenasia. Hazel wasn't showing signs of serious distress, so let's keep a treatment plan. It's their job to try and resuscitate her. 2) The doctor read my other pet rat's chart, Peanut, instead of Hazel. I know this because Huddleston said Hazel went from 316 grams 170 grams. Hazel has never weight anywhere close to 316 grams, ever. Later, I looked in my file and pulled Peanut's vet receipt and sure enough it said 316 grams. They read the wrong pet's chart. Peanut and Hazel look very similar, and we just wanted to point this out to them. The next morning, we realized they mixed up the chart and my husband called Hayden Pet Medical and very calmly explained what happened over the phone. About an hour later, we get an email saying Hayden Pet Medical is ceasing treatment for Hazel on the basis of "unkind behavior". Uhhhh excuse me??! My husband didn't raise his voice, he didn't swear, nothing. They kicked us to the curb while Hazel needed medical attention, because of their fragile feelings or something. Husband goes to the vet and starts voice recording the encounter. He lightly knocks on the back door and waits. He camly tells the staff what happened and that we need to speak with Dr. Huddleston. Staff said she wasn't there. They have a brief conversation, all recorded, and my husband leaves. We wait a while longer for a phone call from any doctor and we get nothing. He tried calling the vet, nothing. So now, rightlyfully pissed off, my husband goes in a second time through the front door and asks for a manager. Another staff comes up to him and tells him there is no manager available. He asks for Peale, Huddleston or Sussman, all not there. He is fed up and starts telling the staff that they are deliberately ignoring us. He asked for a referral for our dying Hazel because there aren't very many vets around that see pet rats. The lady said she would not give him a referral. The staff lady starts screaming at husband, saying he's "harassing them" and calls the police on him! They call and say he has trespassed. He tells the staff he will wait for the cop in his truck on the public easement. While he's in his truck waiting for the cops, the staff paint him as a "stalker and harasser". Husband waits to speak to the cop and that conversation went well. This place should be shut down. They are acting criminal and honestly Huddleston, Peale and Sussman should have their licenses taken away from them. They have tunnel vision on their own frail emotions and your pet can die for all they care. We had to rush quickly to another vet that sees rats. We found one an hour away in Washington. That vet was night and day difference to what we experienced at Hayden Pet Medical. They were thoughtful and thorough in their time with Hazel, they diagnosed her properly, put her in an incubator to warm her up, gave her warm food and comfort and proper medicine to help her inevitable passing as painless and easy as possible. Little Hazel passed very peacefully a couple days later in my arms, warm and comforted. So not the worst ending for Hazel, but Hayden Pet Medical really made a name for themselves: unethical and cruel. All because of their feelings. We have feelings too, but we can get bent I guess. They could not admit they read the wrong chart, they wouldn't listen to us when we explained that we wanted treatment not euthanasia and we got labeled "harassers". I'm going to make sure all of my friends know what they did to us.

This is very hard to write. These folks have been our vet for nearly two years and generally a good experience, however they fell very low on this one. On Monday of this week they assisted in the euthanasia of our beloved 9 year old puggle. As you know, this kind of decision is always traumatic for owners, and their pets can often share in this sadness. Ive had dogs all my life and when their time finally comes, the hope is that it can be a gentle, painless transition into sleep, held in the arms of their lifelong friend. Its always a difficult time. When our boy's condition became unsaveable, and we couldnt bear to make him waste away in pain and loss of dignity, we chose a time and brought him to you for the crossover journey. We brought his friend, a 3 year old pittie girl along, having learned that it can help for the remaining dog to be there at the end, to know that her friend is gone. Its supposed to reduce the trauma of loss. Our experience was different. We went into a nice room and were told the process: he would be given a first injection that would calm him, over 3 to five minutes, into a deep sleep, where he could remain for as long as we wished, so we could say our goodbyes and give him last loves and cuddles. He was very frightened, I think he knew something was happening. But when it was time for the first injection, a tech took hold of him and the doctor gave him a shot somewhere in his hind quarters. I couldnt see what was being done. I have never heard such a cry of pain from a dog. He didnt just yelp,... he cried out. He howled. He looked at me with fear and pain in his eyes and then, no gentle transition, he basically just went limp. In no more than thirty seconds he was completely out, but that thirty seconds was terrible. I can barely write this. My wife literally screamed in empathy for him and our little pittie, his friend for all of her life, tried to get to him, to protect him. My wife had to restrain her. I cannot describe the feeling of trying to calm them both while knowing that we needed to say goodby to our dying friend. When we had done our best, the doctor came in and finished the procedure. Our boy had lost control of his bowels and bladder of course and so moving his limp little body from the couch to the table was difficult. Our other dog was very frightened and couldnt wait to leave so we finished the rest and left for home. Loss of a pet is always hard. Ive been through it several times and in each instance, it stays with you. Eventually you remember the best of your buddy and the loss softens. This was truly terrible. I never thought that his last thought and feeling might be terror and pain and confusion. I never wanted that for him. Now it is a memory that will haunt me for the rest of my life. Our other dog is traumatized but she will recover. We are getting her a new friend to give her something good to focus on. But we cannot bring her to the place where she had to go through that experience again. Dogs know. The doctor's only comment when our boy cried out was, "Beagles", with a slight shrug. We were shocked and dismayed. And now, that memory will be with us for life.

I am very satisfied with my experience at Hayden Pet Medical Center. Granted, I was coming from what was a very negative experience with another vet clinic, but I believe that over the past 30 years I have not had a better vet experience than the one I had at Hayden Pet Medical Center. The facility is clean and bright, the staff on the phone were exceptionally friendly, and from the moment I first walked through the door I felt like a valued customer, and that they truly wished to help my dog. They drew blood to run a battery of tests, which were expensive, but a fraction of the cost to an animal allergy clinic I had been previously referred to. The staff has a text service, and responds to my texts within 30 mins of my contacting them. I realize that I have only been to Hayden Pet Medical Center, but that visit left me with a lasting impression. Definitely the best vet I have ever used, I recommend them highly, and I look forward to seeing them again. Five stars, hands down.

They made my dog and I feel welcome and well cared for. Although there was nothing wrong with my dog, just a check up, we were made to feel as important as though we had a serious illness.

Love this facility and the personnel. I called several facilities and they were booked 4 weeks out. Hayden Pet Medical Center got me in on the same day. My dog loves the Vet and the supporting staff. Big hugs to Hayden Pet Medical Center. Five paw rating from my dog.

I haves vacation home in Coeur d'Alene and needed a Health Certificate so my dog could fly back home with me. They got me in right away and the staff and dr were all very friendly and helpful. The prices were very reasonable, as well! I definitely recommend Hayden Pet Medical Center for local or visitors in the area! And I will be using them as my vet whenever I am in the area.
