Pet Supplies Plus Garden City
5689 W Chinden Blvd, Garden CityI started taking my basset hounds to Pet Supplies Plus because they have walk-in service for nail trims. The women in the grooming department are SO good with our dogs. Our female had a bad experience once and has been really skittish about getting her nails trimmed. The team loved on her, coaxed her, calmed her and were so gentle with her....I can't tell you how much I appreciated that. Thank you!

Pet Grooming
Idaho Dog Park Daycare & Lodging
5019 N Sawyer Ave, Garden CityI brought my lab in for his 2nd day of daycare and my VERY shy cattle dog for a meet & and greet, and they both seemed very happy and comfortable. During the CDs meet & greet, I could hear the facilitator praising and encouraging him. And I got several updates on how he was doing before I left, and his first day began. The staff are all very kind and friendly. There are windows in the lobby where you can see part of the big dog play area, and I've seen staff loving on the pups. I know for a fact that other local facilities charge extra for 1 on 1 attention/ snuggles. The drop-in policy makes it so easy. I used to have to make appointments a few days ahead of time and dro off or pick up during certain windows. Which is fine until something unexpected comes up.Also, I'm sure what's done differently here, but my lab is SO much calmer both arriving and leaving than he has been at any other facility (2 in the TV and one whileon vacation). Normally, he starts barking when we pull into the lot and practically pulls my arm off to get inside. When leaving, he drags the attendant, and body slams me. At Idaho Dog Park, he's definitely excited to get there but doesn't get over-aroused. He walks calmly into the building and then back to the intake room.I'm very grateful I found a daycare that provides a safe, healthy environment for my pups when I need to leave them.

Boise Dog Barber Shop
6732 N Glenwood St, Garden CityThis is my favorite groomer in all of Boise. They do a fantastic job and we're able to accommodate my two large Labrador dogs. They even put a cute little flower on the female's collar. I ended up leaving the flower on all the time. They've always been very professional and very good at communication.

Pet Care
Westvet 24/7 Animal Emergency & Specialty Center
5024 W Chinden Blvd, Garden CityMy 18 year old cat was at the end of his journey, and fortunately for us we were referred to West Vet by Boise Cat Clinic (another wonderful veterinarian).I was absolutely heartbroken to know what we were facing, and even knowing that it was time to help him cross the rainbow bridge I asked for an exam. The folks at West Vet were able to get him looked over and confirm that his cancer and renal failure had become too much for him. We had been treating for months already, there was nothing left to do to keep him comfortable.I was so distraught that I can't recall the veterinarian's name. She immediately felt like a dear friend. She explained what was going on, and walked me through the various options. We chose euthanasia, a heart breaking choice, but the compassionate one for my Henry. The doctor and Hasan were so warm, caring, gentle and helpful guiding us through the process. We were given a very comfortable room and as much time as we needed. After quite some time my cat settled in on the couch and went to sleep. This is when we pushed the call button and helped him cross peacefully. It was an absolute hellish day on us, but these people made it as comfortable as possible. I've been through this before elsewhere in another state and it was a very cold, clinical and awful experience. Not at West Vet. They may have only known my cat for a few hours, but it felt like they love him as much as I do.If you're in need of urgent care for a pet, this is the place to go. They care about you and your furry friend's well-being. I'll never forget that heart breaking day. When those memories come rushing back I'll also remember the comfort given by the caring people here.

Idawild Brewing Company
5270 W Chinden Blvd, Garden CityThis is a very nice family owned brewery on Chinden. I was waiting outside for my ride one afternoon when the husband and wife came out and invited me in for a drink while I waited. I should add that they were currently closed but still offered me to come in so I didn’t have to wait outside. This was my first time here and will definitely not be my last. Highly recommend!

Par Terre Winery
4338 W Chinden Blvd, Garden CityWhat's not to love? A wife and husband owned winery + ballet studio. The Albariño is lovely. The merlot had a ton of character and completely drinkable. The Cabernet Sauvignon is delightful. The finish? Almost disappears then reappears as floral.

Push & Pour
214 E 34th St, Garden CityThe staff is what makes this location so fantastic and unique. Love coming here for the atmosphere, art, and awesome oat milk lattes.Push and Pour is a coffee shop chain that started in Boise, at the 24th street location. While there are now three stores throughout the area, this was the first, and it retains a great local flavor. This shop still has a bit of a foothills skateboard culture, and regularly rotates local artist through the shop. It actively participates in community events and is a treat to go to.In the fall and winter, there is often a fire in the firepit out front, and during the summer, it is a great place to walk to from Catherine Morison park, or from a River Tubing adventure. Always fun. Always good energy. Always good drinks.Pastries are good. Burrito is hearty and filling (give it 10 minutes). The sandwiches are light and enjoyable.
