My favorite salon ever! Melissa is sooo good. She really understands how to make a cut look really good. It's not just a generic haircut. She really takes the time to look at your face and consider your lifestyle when she cuts your hair. Also, she's just really fun to talk to

Loved my haircut, color and experience at the little salon! Emma was awesome. She knew exactly what I wanted and was so kind. The hair salon itself was so cozy and cute! Highly recommend.

This was my second time at the salon and I had an amazing experience. Emma did an amazing job with my hair. I asked for very little off the end and she did exactly that. We discussed before how to go about taking the dead ends off while still keeping the length, which I appreciated. She even made me feel comfortable adding some shape to the front pieces of my hair. Can't wait to go back!

This refers to a first visit to The Little Salon on June 10, 2022. I've been visiting Sarasota for months at a time since 1980, just moved here from CT in April. Being new to the area, I needed a new, reliably skilled salon ~ I have always put a lot of emphasis on hair and, while I'll use $6.99 Maybelline mascara, I'm willing to pay for hair with some of the best colorists, straightening experts, stylists, etc. I read many Yelp reviews and with a high confidence level, booked my appointment for a partial highlight, roots, trim, blowout with Melissa. I got there early (12:55) for a 1:15 appt but Melissa was behind so I got to her station closer to 1:45. She took a look at my hair, which was all gray growth, but highlighted blonder than brown. She asked if I prefer blonder and I told her yes. I also told her that I had covered my gray roots with a root color stick which she acknowledged, so she heard that. In my experience, other salons rinse or wipe it off with a towel ~ I know now it's because color has a harder time adhering to the wax-like substance. Melissa went about doing my highlights, which were considerably fewer foils than I typically received at salons in CT but I don't really freak out about hair because most things you can come back from simply by letting it grow. But, frankly, she HAD asked me if I prefer blonder and I'd responded yes, so she ignored my clearly stated preference. She finished the foils and then applied single process to the roots and I sat at least a half hour till we were ready to shampoo. BTW, she was nice and we talked at length about many things. She trimmed and reviewed how I wanted the blowout and went about it. After she'd finished the top and one side, she said she couldn't finish it as is because the color had not processed over the gray and I could either come back or, if I had the time, she could redo it right then. I said let's just do it now. So we started from the beginning. It would mean another hour and a half and I wasn't thrilled but I also wasn't too upset, to that point, although she was clearly going to try to let it go if it hadn't been so obvious. So she redid everything. Apparently, while my other stylists knew to take the color stick crayon off, Melissa hadn't bothered ~ she said she had considered washing it but then thought she "could get away without washing it" and it would adhere. It didn't. And she said there was no way she could let me leave the way it was. Which, frankly, the gray screamed out as she began blowdrying but I thought maybe I wasn't seeing it well in the light bc no reputable salon would so blatantly, inadequately perform their expert service. She began blowdrying ~ I told her I like it straight, that I had keratin in it and it easily blows out straight. I've had plenty of blowouts in my many years on the planet and knew the blowout wasn't going well by the very gentle pull she was using and direction she was brushing. I couldn't even bring myself to look in the mirror, but when I finally did it was frizzy vs. the smooth blowouts I usually get. Mind you, every single thing on this menu of services is a la carte. If you're doing color and they don't blow out to finish and check it, that's just sloppy IMO, and just a tacky new way to revenue stream. But okay, I would have abided all that and maybe even gone back although the color was too brown, but fixable next visit. But then, she did something so unprofessional, something I hate so much that I was totally turned off. As she's doing this poor blowdry, she's telling me that she's not sure how my previous stylist was doing my hair but the ends were thinning ~ maybe they were overbooking her at her salon and in a rush to get appointments in and out she overprocessed my hair, and then went on to trash my CT stylist. That's when I FINALLY felt myself tense up ~ I despise stylists trashing previous stylists to make themselves look good. After she had just totally screwe

I'm so sorry to say that this is the worst haircut I've received since my brother's cut when I was 5. Hate to do this review, but don't want people assuming this little outdated salon is all that it claims to be. The staff wasn't friendly, practically rude, except for the receptionist. Maybe they were hangry. My friends asked me what happened. I have uneven layers inside out so there's always a layer in my shirt collar, yet my hair is below my shoulders. A client of mine, who's a stylist, said it looks chopped. Wearing a hat and attempting to wear it up until it grows out (have a nice little, uneven curtain itching my collar if it's up)... awful experience.

I give The Little Salon an excellent rating! We moved to Sarasota two months ago, & I was very nervous about finding a new Salon bc the same lady had been cutting my hair for over 20 years in MD & it is very thick and wavy. But Janette gave me an awesome cut, she cut just enough the first time to gain my trust so that when I came back yesterday I trusted her to give me a whole new look that will work so much better here in FL! The owner was very kind & helpful when I first visited & was able to give me the names of the two stylists who would be best for my kind of hair. The shop is small & friendly and they offer free parking in the rear for customers. - Kathy

Melissa is amazing with color as well as cutting. She gave me the most beautiful natural looking color, as close to my natural color as possible! Cutting my hair can be a challenge because it is fairly curly. She did a fabulous job!! Got two compliments before I even left the salon!
