No motorhome or travel trailer parking.not much parking for that mater. we had to do alot of backing up. Great history, oldest standing building in Idaho. Brand new visitor center.nice clean restrooms.
This is the first time I've ever had to pay to see the mission. I guess it's the signs of the times.

Such a fun historical stop. If you enjoy history and reading, the museum is a great way to spend and hour or two. The staff was friendly, and the visitor center was clean and well kept. Their short film was interesting, and their museum has a lot of artifacts. Make sure you stop here if you're in the area!
Toilets: They were clean and comfortable.
Dog-friendliness: They only allow service animals.

First, now's about the right time to go. Today was perfect. It already stopped raining, and the temperature is cool enough to be just right. I didn't hike the trail so I can't tell about that, but the visitor center has an 18 minute informative movie about the mission's history, and there is a nice display of pictures and more history in the other wing. Then, walking up the little hill, a person can visit the mission and see all the "done by hand" work the Indians and the priests did. Very impressive. Definately done by "soy boys". I took a lot of pics but am only posting a few, because I want you to be curious enough to take the kids. Check out there website. Once a year in August the Indians have a great gathering there. The log is a hollowed out tree truck canoe. Ranger Rob gave an informative talk about how the mission was built. Not only handsome but smart and friendly, also. Be sure to ask about the blue ceiling.
Toilets: Clean, indoors
Picnic area: Has a nice picnic area under the trees so it is shaded in the summer

The mission is the oldest standing building in Idaho. It's pretty cool, and really captures that little slice of Americana that makes you proud of your heritage. I remember going here as a child for field trips, and had the pleasure of attending my child's class this spring. However, I was NOT impressed with the littering of anti-white anti-Christian messaging in the museum. In there, they pretend on every other plaque that the local Indians didn't want the white man nor his Christianity, yet the history indicates that at least five generations of them fed the spiritual life of this church. They taint the sacred nature of this place with their anachronism, hate, and retreat into paganism. And why is that vitriol here? Because the CDA Tribe "owns" this historic place, but they conveniently don't have to pay for any of it. The taxes from the white man have that pleasure, via the parks department. Typical, that they'd demand they own the land, but not want to pay for it, and then use that undue privilege to push their racism.
Playground: There is no playground, but there is a lot of open space and few short trails.
Toilets: In the gift shop only, which is quite a distance from the Mission, down many stairs.
Dog-friendliness: I didn't see any specific rules, but the site is a church a cemetery, though inactive. There are several signs about respecting that history and keeping an appropriate demeanor. I would recommend no dogs.
Picnic area: Plenty of space and a few tables to the West of the Mission

This wasn’t a destination point for us, we saw some signs, my wife looked it up and the area was beautiful, so we decided to stop. The fee was $7. We started at the visitor center and the video wasn’t great quality and a bit long, but very informative.
The pictures included are the old mission built on the foundation of the original mission after it burned down. Still, this building is the oldest building in Idaho still standing. If you stop, and you like birds and wildlife, just west of the Old Mission is a “landing” or boat launch. Tons of riparian birds in an area that was stunning. We drove to a little side north of the highway as well and it was loaded with unique wildlife and birds. All in all, well worth the time to stop!

This park is beautiful! I would've never known this park existed if I didn't stop at almost every brown "historical site" sign. The mission is - chefs kiss - so gorgeous. The history is sad, involving taking away Native American land and culture, as is most historic landmarks. The inside of the mission is so beautiful, one of the most stunning insides I've seen in a mission. Highly recommend stopping, looking, experiencing, and learning at the Cataldo Mission.
Toilets: Lovely indoor restrooms - 10/10
Dog-friendliness: Dogs are not allowed on the grounds.
