We chose Tolsma Auto Body based on the Yelp reviews and the initial estimate.
We are new to the Treasure Valley. We had a parking lot mishap where a stub of concrete that was not very visible caught the front bumper of my wife's car and shredded the bottom edge of the driver's side as well as pulled that part of the bumper away from the body.
Tony Tolsma is a nice man. He looked at our car and gave us an estimate for $1460. Since we had already received an estimate for about $1860 from another well reviewed auto body shop, we went with Tolsma.
Ernestine is the office assistant that we communicated with for the repair. When we brought the car in, on a Tuesday, she said she thought the car would be ready by Friday. My wife called on Friday and was were told that there were issues with getting some parts, and the car would be ready on Monday. I understand that things happen.
My wife called on Monday morning. Ernestine said she would have to call the parts people. She said she would call us back but didn't. My wife called again later and was told that the car would be ready by 1:30.
We arrived at 1:30 and the car was parked outside, ready to go. My wife noticed that the color of the repair was not a perfect match to the rest of the car, though Tony told us that his painter was excellent at matching colors. When we went into the office, Tony told us this was because of the difference in colors on plastic vs metal. Otherwise, the repair looked good.
We were shocked when the bill came to $1950, about $500 over the initial estimate. When we inquired, Tony matter-of-factly told us that he had thought the bumper part included the bottom spoiler, and he was mistaken, hence the higher cost. We thanked him, paid, and left.
I knew that my wife was upset about the cost of the repair being so much more than the initial estimate, especially since we were paying out-of-pocket. I was unhappy as well. We are on a fixed income and, to us, $500 is a lot of money. I called Tony later and thanked him for being a nice man and for fixing our vehicle, but expressed my disappointment that the cost of the repair was so much more than his initial estimate. I told him that we should have been alerted to this prior to the repair so we could at least have been prepared. He thanked me for my call, acknowledged that he should have communicated better with us, and apologized, but did not offer to adjust the bill.
My biggest problem with all of this is that Tony did a poor job of assessing the scope of the repair. Had we known that Tolsma was going to charge us $1950, we would have gone with the other auto body shop, which included the spoiler part in their initial estimate of $1860. If we need any auto body work in the future, we will not return to Tolsma.

The lady who takes the calls is horrible at communicating , she will say “it will be ready this day” and so on then will extend it by 4 days. Then when you call them to see she says she will call you back but you always have to end up calling yourself she needs to be fired if i could give this place 0 stars i would! DO NOT GO HERE! Spend your money someplace else!

It seems as if Tony the owner of the shop has turned into a dishonest, insurance fraud. My roommate, who is a Filipino native, has been defrauded out of her car, and also the insurance company has been defrauded of thousands of dollars, for body work that Tony has promised to do for my roommate , since the beginning of July . Shame on him. She is an early 70s year old woman, and she was recently widowed. Also a first-time driver in the United States if I can give him a zero I would. She still doesn't have her car.

They did an amazing job on repairing our vehicle after a truck backed into it. They took about a week and were completed in a timely manner just as they said. I would definitely recommend and go back if ever needed

Was recommended by a friend so I thought I'd give them a try. I go into the offiice & was told to come back the next day because they were closing. They still had 20 min before closing. Wont go back after that

If you have a nicer vehicle/sports car, please please do yourself a favor and go else where for paintwork.After bringing my car back twice I'm still finding clear coat runs, nibs, and even imperfections at the base coat level of paint that can't be fully removed. The orange peel was pretty bad and didn't match the original finish at all. I've had it and I'm now wet sanding and polishing their mistakes which I find completely unacceptable. My original taillights were also improperly installed and were held in place with structural adhesive. They did own up to that and buy me some new ones. After constantly finding these new issues with my paint every time I see it under different lighting, I'm completely fed up and wishing I had gone else where.They did a decent job with everything else related to the body repair. The owner was friendly and I held back on leaving a bad review but I feel people should know this so they don't potentially have a bad experience.Services: Painting

This business is a complete joke. Made an appointment to have my vehicle repaired. They were out 30 days which was ok. My car was in their shop for 2 1/2 weeks.I called to see if it was done and was told it would be ready the next day. I called two days later and was told the tech called in sick and it wouldn’t be done as I was told. The receptionist told me twice that it was almost ready. I received a call back stating that the vehicle has never been touched yet. So I picked it up (dusty as heck from sitting in their lot for 2 1/2 weeks) and no apology or asking to bring the car in at a later date.Very shady personnel and would not recommend this business.

Tony the owner is SO rude, I feel so bad for the people that work there. They did an okay job painting the car when the grandson was running the business but it took probably 2 months to get our car back. It was always something! Thankfully not our every day driver so not a huge deal. Got the car back and left side headlights and blinker didn't work. Turns out they forgot to connect a fuse box but the owner literally didn't believe me and proceeded to argue with me over the phone. Tech that helped me today was AMAZING and the gal that works up front is super nice. But if you're looking for high quality speedy service I'd probably try somewhere else!Service: Painting

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Customer service is outstanding. If you’re looking for good, old-fashioned service … look no further. Dylan went out of his way to help put my bumper back together after I reversed into a wall. I couldn’t have chosen a better auto body service to go to and cannot recommend them highly enough. Just getting an estimate all other name brand you have to get a appointment and it is at least two weeks out. Tolsma auto body has been around for many years and done ? work. I would recommend.
