Save yourself the trouble of fitting in to this guys narrow views and rules. You can boondock anywhere with better amenities and be able to pour pasta water out. We use iOverlander (its an app) to find free camping all over the place. Though I suppose if you enjoy the company of nationalistic misogynists, by all means stay here.Edit, after owners reply: Ha! I have no direct evidence that you are racist, but if you suggest it, who am I to deny you. Btw, Kelly is a gender-neutral name, and I have a wife. Draw your conclusions as you’d like ? and decide if you still like the comment you left. P.S. Bud Light is disgusting beer, but not for the reasons you dislike it.2nd edit (after owner’s smart edit to his reply): maybe just try loving people without limits. Love them if they disagree with you, love them if they are trans, love them if you don’t even like them. If you were a kind person, I wouldn’t mind not being able to dump out my pasta water. I couldn’t disagree more with your politics or ideas. I definitely don’t like you. But I wish you well. I still don’t recommend folks stay with you, though.

By donation only. Owner is eccentric. Lots of political signage around. If you can't control your tongue and need to argue about who's right....don't go there. If you can be polite and respectful of others beliefs and opinions, it's a great place. I felt very safe. After I made this review, which I thought was very respectful and thorough, he asked me to leave! Only then did I not feel safe because he seemed unstable or on edge. It was very weird!

8/22/23. Scar was quick to welcome us, and our Vizsla Cheyenne, upon arrival. Retreat and Evening fire was a great time with meeting and conversing with Scar and another guest Jim learning about each other. Scar is a true patriot who most certainly shows the love of the USA through his daily actions. As stated on his very detailed wed site, Park offers 30 & 50 amp or boon docking at no fee. Though I suggest a nice tip to thank Scar for his hospitality.Should we be in the area again, we would certainly use HONEYS services.

The owner Scar is a super nice man. He offered me a Beer and to sit down by the fire with him. Nice of him to offer but, I was too tired and went back to my trailer with the AC on thanks to the 30 amp connection Scar provided me. I missed the part about it being a dog park camping spot. But his dogs are friendly and didn’t even bark at me. Unfortunately, I am allergic to dogs and cats. But there was plenty of room for all of us at Honeys Dog Park. Donations are not required but, I know it’s not free to pay the rent or power. I was happy to make a donation to further the good work of Scar the hero of the lion king.

We drove up, 6 hot guys, four of us with mullets, fresh out of college, in a minivan, looking for a free place to pitch a tent. We drove in as slow as possible, noting the nifty 2 mph speed limit signs, cautiously optimistic. We were greeted warmly by the Ruler of Arco, Scar himself. (Single women be careful, he is extremely seductive). He labeled us as serial killers then welcomed us all in.Scar is what makes this place the best campsite in Idaho. He makes sure you are supplied with ONLY safe beer. If you’re not sure if your beer is safe, ask Scar, he will emphatically let you know.Sit around the campfire with Scar and get in on all the latest Arco gossip (stuff goes down in the grocery store). Bring your best (and worst) jokes and have a great laugh with strangers you’ll probably never see again (shout out Aiden). Ask about Scar’s local love interests (specifically Lois) for some great stories. If you’re there to see Craters of the Moon, don’t let Scar’s pessimism prevent you from going (it is cooler than just “lava rocks in the desert”).

Patriotic with a sense of humour, and the best service we’ve encountered. We have never had a campground sing the Stars and Stripes at sundown, or say the Pledge of Allegiance in the morning. If you want to enjoy being in America, this is the right place! It’s one downside is that it doesn’t have running water - you have to go to the free public RV dump next door. There’s a shortcut for tenters, so it is not a big deal. This is the best dog-friendly campsite we’ve ever seen. Think of it as a dog off-leash area merged with a campground. The price for this is that there are some rules. You can’t leave food or waste around. Dogs will eat it - and one of his has bad allergies. When he asks you to drive very slowly, it is part of what enables the off-leash area (as well as being a good test of character for potential guests). So the host’s rules need to be taken seriously - there is meaningful thought behind them.About service: the host actually brings in water for showers. He literally keeps a beer fridge for campfires. The hilariously-painted old busses in the photos keep a library, showers, and spaces for travellers in difficulty. He greets you coming in, makes sure you are settled, and makes sure no visitors are unpleasant neighbours.Needless to say, the character of the man who makes this happen is an attraction in itself. Scar seems to have been through the wars, in every sense. It’s part of the reason he has a lot of care for dogs and people in trouble. If you think of this trip as being about meeting a new friend, you won’t be disappointed. We’ll come back if we can, this year or next - apparently Arco’s 4th of July is epic.PS: If you’re a Canadian, Scar apparently cannot text you back to confirm. Try leaving an email address.PPS: don’t miss the donations can on the way out. It’s beside the gate. Scar won’t ask, so you have to remember.

Thank you Scar for all your hospitality and generosity. I just finished his book about the history of Honeys, I can say after reading it I have even more respect and admiration for the kindness that comes from Honeys. Thank you for making the world a better place by giving what you can and tolerating more than you should. If you come to visit Honeys please respect the speed limit, don't feed Ruby and be a decent human and you'll have a great stay. We looked forward to the nightly sunset, anthem and the chance to make strangers into friends.

My husband and I were supposed to camp at Iron Bog Lake campground near the trailhead where we planned on hiking but when I checked the Forest Service website for that campground, it says CLOSED. Not sure if they just forgot to update their website or what but we’ve never been to that area so we didn’t want to take a chance. So, I looked for dispersed camping at FreeCampsites.net and found Honey’s Place, and It has great reviews! Scar, the owner, is very gracious in letting us stay. Our spot has an electric outlet which is great! This is a nice, free campground with views of the mountains. And at night, Scar had this awesome bonfire where guests are welcome to join him sit around the fire. Too bad we couldn’t hang out longer because we had to wake up early to drive to the trailhead. This is a great place to stay if you need one. Just be respectful of his property & follow his (common sense) rules and you won’t have a problem. Also, on your way out, there’s a box where you can leave a donation. He’s not charging anything though. He’s just a very kind man who wants to help people.

What a neat little place! The owner is a very kind, considerate person who has a perfect spot for anyone that needs to stay a night. We were exhausted and unfortunately had to get back on the road, but I encourage anyone who is going a more leisurely pace to sit down and have a chat with him because I could see great stories to be told. Go check out his website and be respectful, and say hi to his sweet dog. ?

Exactly what was promised! My friend and I came here and it's not only a free place to camp with some amenities, it's just a good experience all around. At first the place looks a little sketch, but Scar was a delight with a wonderful sense of humor & there were no problems with our stay. We stayed in Stiggles T Wigglesworth when before we had been sleeping in our car. Scar's the definition of a good Samaritan and I couldn't recommend this place more!

Best place I've ever camped at in my LIFE. slept so good in stiggles T wigglesworth that I didn't get up till noon. When I went here for the free camping I didn't know there would be complimentary lodging or a campfire. Honestly read the website before you come here, it explains everything. Scar is very upfront in the site and in person. Durring my stay we all watched princess bride and had a campfire. It was such a unique and sociable experience that Im planning my next road trip around this spot.

Great hospitality by Scar, and fun conversations at the campfire. This is a must-stop campground if you're going through the area. The national anthem at sunset was quite beautiful as well, with backlit mountains in the distance. Arco itself is worth exploring for an afternoon too. You'll have very memorable experience here. Cheers.Edit: I should add that Scar has the best belly laugh in all of Idaho. It'll certainly lighten your mood!

We have taken advantage of Scar's hospitality three times and look forward to more visits in the future. You do need to read his website to learn the rules but they are mostly common sense and respect for everyone. He has a campfire whenever possible and some lively discussions happen along with free beer. Its really not hard to find a level spot and he offers free electric. However donations can be freely offered.
