I went to three different mechanics trying to figure out what was wrong with my car. Island Cylinder was able to finally diagnose the problem and repair my car. They provide excellent customer services and went above and beyond updating me every step of the way. I highly recommend them for engine work!

Ounce again Island Cylinder Heads Ernest and Charmaine, came through , they have a genuine care for every one of their customers, even me and I'm from the mainland, unfortunately over the years, and I've lived here about 20 years now, many locals, in business, like to take care of their own, everyone else on the back burner, but not Ernest and Charmaine, they are the true embodiment of the Spirit Of Aloha. Sometimes when we watch or read the news, and see some of the horrible things that happen out there, (mans inhumanity against man) you wonder if this Spirit of Aloha really exists here. Ernest and Charmaine helped me see that it really does, although in a very select group of people. Just a couple of examples, My car broke down on the road, and Ernest made a road service call, came with his tools and fixed the problem, then when I went to the shop and left the car for additional service, Charmaine gave me a ride right to the front door of my apartment, what shop worker does that?. In addition to Ernest being extremely skilled and knowledgeable in his craft and Charmaine working with the customer to help them understand the intricate specific mechanical issues that have been diagnosed and they are a busy business, they always find the time to go above and beyond what is normally expected. Again not for Island Cylinder head, I would've let my car go as a total loss, but they saved it, re-built my cars engine when no other shop would take the job. And they continue to provide regular maintenance service., with reasonable prices, on issues that arise with normal wear and tear. If you have a vehicle that needs a major repair or just a little TLC, I highly recommend this shop, remember they are a two person business, so you have to be patient if the phone is busy or messages are answered the next day. Charmaine will call you back, and Ernest will fix your car, they are so amazing, they deserve to expand and open shops all over the Islands. Please help them do that, give them a try you won't be disappointed.

Called them in November 2023. They tell me they busy but I can make appointment for end of January. They say they will call to remind me. Nobody call nothing. I call them on the date in January and leave message. Nobody answer phone or return voicemail. They wasted months of my valuable time. Forget this place. Go somewhere else.

Island Cylinder Heads Earnest and Charmaine are the epitome of the spirit of Aloha on this Island, they truly posses this spirit. I'm a repeat customer, they have been able to fix my VW Beetle when other shops were unable. Started w/a complete engine rebuild, just when I was about to let the car go as a total loss, This was also during the pandemic, they came in whenever they could even on the weekends to finish the repair. Today, the engine purrs like new. The shop was closed recently, but has re-opened, and thank goodness all is well and theyre back in business. Finally, I went back for transmission checkup and brake repair, Earnest did an amazing job fixing the issue being that there was so much rust embedded within the rotors, they also took time to super shine the tires,wipe down the car like it had just went through a car wash and Charmaine took the time to fix one of my w/s wipers. Earnest also took time to make minor repairs to the heat pan and under-carriage of the vehicle.Since the vehicle needs a specialized shop for the transmission issue, Charmaine did her magic again, she made an appointment for me, even got a quote with the shop so I know what to expect.Ernest and Charmaine continue to go above and beyond whats expected to help their customers. I've watched/heard,, they do the same for every customer. If you have a car that needs repair, please call them, I highly recommend this shop and its awesome workers, you will not be disappointed.Services: Electrical repair

Absolutely fantastic shop repair and service. A gem in Waipio. Ernest and Charmaine is just a great team. My 1999 Tacoma needed head gasket work. Charmaine did a reschedule with her customers and worked my car in. I had to tow it there and drove out with nearly a brand-new engine for a bargain cost. Ernest even painted my tires and cleaned the outside. The engine looks brand new. Ernest is very neat mechanic, and everything looks brand new. They do their own machine work He even found some brittle vacuum tubes and replaced it. He also said bring it in after a couple of weeks no charge to check the bolts. I would definitely use them again. Other machine shops would charge me more than $2,000 for the same work.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE! Working with Island Cylinder Head is hands down the best experience I’ve ever had when dealing with automotive repairs. Charmaine was an absolute pleasure to work with and really knows what she’s talking about. She kept me up to date on what the mechanic and machinist, Ernest was finding as the top half of my engine came apart for a blown head gasket. Ernest’s work both looks great, and has my 20 year old truck running like new again. If your vehicle is having a hard time, I highly recommend giving Island Cylinder Head a call.

A friendly voice on the end of the line, Charmine, was able to provide us with solid information in order to make an informed decision. She was a great communicator and she really knows her stuff. We chose to tow our vehicle there. She was able to help us find an affordable towing company even after hours. Once in the shop, Ernest, head mechanic, was able to start his diagnostic right away. After assessment, we decided to let Ernest and Charmine complete the job they started. With pricing that matches the work done, (Not over inflated like other shops) our car has a new lease on life. Will never recommend. Have been trying to call for months for some motor work and no answer, they don’t know how to pickup the phone or check the answering machine cause I left multiple messages also. Lazy workers at the desk and no such thing as customer service what so ever.

purchased a previously owned 2010 van last year. earlier this year van blew gasket :( i saw reviews on yelp and also called our local automotive dansen for a referral and they referred these guys. i called and spoke with charmaine and she was very pleasant and extremely helpful and apologetic because they were booked 2 months out. i finally got my car to the shop it was done in 2 weeks but it had some "hiccup" issue when driving home. i immediately texted charmaine to advise what i was experiencing and ended up taking the van back in. ernest ran a diagnostic check and there were no red flags so he reassured me that i can continue driving the van and if or when the alert light comes on to bring it back in. its been a whole month (crossing fingers) since i haven't heard the "hiccup". island cylinder head is truly a blessing for me... thank you charmaine & ernest

Island cylinder does the best quality job I ever had done on my vehicles. They also explain in detail of problems and what options you have before doing the job required. I'm pleased with the work they have done and the price. Nice people to work with. Good job Ernest and Charmaine.

Charmane & Ernest are the best as far as customer service & the work that they did on our car. They are down to earth & really go beyond & above to help their customers! My dad was a mechanic & he always said "it's always good to have a doctor, dentist & a MECHANIC in the family" & they truly make you feel that way. She understood our situation & got us right in even tho they were booked! They both explain step by step everything they do with your car, even take pictures! How many mechanics do you know that do that? You don't find to many business now days that have locals working that didnt forget where they came from! At one point I started questioning if there really is angels? Well, We found 2 of them at ISLAND CYLINDER HEAD SERVICE! I would definately reccomand them! I give them 10 stars. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE if you ever need to repair or rebuild your engine, from top to bottom they do it, and they do it well. When I first called them to get a estimate the lady I was speaking with charmane was very pleasant, she answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable and confidant knowing that my car was in there hands. She also kept me up to date on what the progress was on my car, and went out of her way to get it done as soon as possible knowing the situation I was in. I recommend ISLAND CYLINDER and give them a 10 out of 10. I can guarantee that anyone who goes there will be fully satisfied and very happy. THANK YOU CHARMANE AND ERNEST AND UNKO YOU GUYS ARE TRULY THE BOMB!!!
