We had a great stay at the Westin on the Big Island . Great facilities like the pools what stood out for was the large fitness center. The gym has great weights, equipment and cardio.

We loved this property! Unfortunately, we were only able to stay one night on this visit, but would definitely stay again.
The service was excellent. We took a quick trip over to Kauai, and the hotel allowed us to store a bag with them, which was waiting for us in our room when we officially checked in. Additionally, I was feeling under the weather before checking out in the morning and the staff went out of their way to find me some crackers just in case I needed some food to settle my stomach before a long travel day.
I am looking forward to a longer stay in the future!

Our stay at the Westin Hupuna for our honeymoon was absolutely wonderful! The front desk staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, the coffee and cocktails from the resort bar were always amazing, the poolside service was excellent every single day, and a special shoutout to Julia who led us in a fantastic morning yoga session right by the ocean. Our room had a spectacular view, the grounds were well maintained, and all of the staff were such a joy to interact with. We will definitely be staying here again in the future!

It was paradise on earth. There is such a wonderful place in the world... I think my father in heaven is also staying in a place like this.
Rooms: It was clean and comfortable
Nearby activities: There's a lot to enjoy at the beach
Food & drinks: Everything was delicious

Beautiful view, soft white sand beach with tropical ambiance in the hotel. Highly recommended! It’s calm to have an evening walk around the hotel to hear the sounds of waves and wind.

I recently stayed at Westin Hapuna from April 2024 for a family reunion. We booked 4 rooms for my extended families. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. Amber at the front desk gave my daughter a turtle toy. She loved it!
The service was exceptional, and I want to specifically thank Daniel Morales, the front office manager, for his thoughtful considerations. His attention to detail and willingness to help clients truly made a difference in our stay. There were minor issues during our stay, but he promptly addressed them and shows he cares about each of the customer.
We enjoyed several of the hotel’s amenities, including the pool and the restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch.
Thank you again, Daniel, for your exceptional service. We look forward to returning in the future!

This is the spot to stay on the Big Island.
The view, the pool, the beach and the rooms were fantastic.
The customer service that Virgil gave us upon check in was first class.
He made sure to send up a bottle of win as we celebrated our 40th anniversary with them.
Kaui was also excellent as a pool service individual. Not only did she give us great service at the pool. She also gave us great dining recommendations.
The complimentary laundry room is a special perk. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and helpful.
This is the only place we would stay during a future visit to the Big Island.

Amazing place. We spent 6 days here before heading to a lesser Marriott on Kauai and we missed this place immediately. Gorgeous, well maintained grounds, great pools, rooms and restaurants. Staff is amazingly friendly. Absolutely loved our stay here and we want to return.

I am currently staying at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort and thought I would leave a review while I am here and my thoughts are fresh. We are a family of three and are here on the Big Island for a 14 day vacation. This is the last leg of our trip - having stayed at other locations around the island - and was supposed to be the highlight of our trip and what I personally was most looking forward to.
We checked in yesterday into what was described as an Ocean View room. The hotel itself is beautiful. The grounds are immaculate, the lobby areas are beautiful and the pools are very nice.
The rooms are not as described. There are varying levels of Ocean View… some partial ocean view, some on the ground floor with a lanai, some described as “premier” ocean view. The room we checked into was classified as Ocean View. The room itself was well maintained and what I’ve come to expect from a Westin room. The view was not “Ocean View”… yes, I would see some of the ocean, but someone thought it a good idea to place the seemingly more important “Residences” building directly in front of the of the hotel rooms… my room not only had an impeccable view of the Residences building, but was “lucky” enough to have a room on direct alignment with the elevator shaft… further limiting the already limited ocean view. Including a photo below.
Once connecting back with the front desk and not expecting any options for moving (was already told that my room - all the way down at the end of the building and quite a walk to any amenities - was the only one available), I was offered the option. To change rooms to another Ocean View room… We ultimately ended up in a room that was a bit more centralized yet this “Ocean View” room has less view than the previous due to a giant set of trees directly in the line of sight. I opted to remain there as it was less of a walk to civilization - even though it had a much more limited Ocean View - because I am on vacation, supposed to be relaxing, and don’t have time to tour room options around d the resort hoping the room classification lived up to its description.
We’ve only eaten at the poolside grill at this point - delicious food. No concerns there.
The walk to the beach can only be described as a maze… constantly looking for the next set of stairs to take me another level down. I’ve got to imagine much of this is due to the Residences being plopped in prime location and limiting options for hotel access.
Just a couple suggestions for management:
1) Reclassify your rooms to appropriately reflect their actual amenities. Totally understandable if you want to block the Ocean Views by placing a seemingly more lucrative and more important residences building directly in the line of sight, just be clear about the fact that Ocean View simply means you can crane your neck in a certain direction and often get a glimpse of the water. I’m reluctant to ask or see what the “Partial Ocean View” room looks like… maybe it has views of the golf course as opposed to the water?
2) make it less complicated to get to the beach
We will continue to have a great tome… that’s just us… but it would have been better if we knew what we were getting into prior to arrival. As a lifetime Platinum member.. and 15+ years of earned Platinum status, I’ve become accustom to Marriott accurately describing their properties… the Westin Hapuna Beach has missed that mark by a country mile
Rooms: Must be reclassified. Ocean View equates to “yes, ocean seems to be out there… somewhere… once I look around all the direct obstructions”. Partial Ocean View must be a view of the golf course or the parking lot… because Ocean View has very little view of the ocean.

I have stayed here three times and the location and grounds of this hotel are amazing! It’s on the sunny side of the big island overlooking one of the best beaches in Hawaii. I can’t say enough about the property which is extremely well kept and beautiful. We did not eat here much so I can’t really review the food but I can say it isn’t cheap. Then again what is in Hawaii. The rooms are pretty basic, and probably not as good as the price point they’re at, but they were clean and comfortable. Just a little smaller than one would expect for the nightly rate. Then again the location makes up for it. I will be back!

The hotel is in a very nice spot and the hotel staff are relatively friendly. However the food is mediocre and expensive and the golf course staff are insanely rude.
