Bought 2 very large Areca Palms, each cost $225. I had to make two trips to get them back home. I placed the plants in the same area, one was further away from the ocean. However, after two days, the one that was furtherest away from the ocean began to turn yellow. The second one, closest to the ocean, was lush, beautiful and green. When I called the nursery they said they should both be fine. I'm sorry to say but for $225 they both should be green and lush. I'll check out some other nurseries in the area. I guess I'm stuck with the yellow one and just hope it comes around. I bought some epson salt for plants as they recommended, but it didn't do much. I sent photos to them so they could see the dramatic difference in the two palms. At the nursery, they both appeared the same and changed only after I got them home. Wish they had a return or even offered compensation of some kind.

The hubby had a vision for the garden, and for some reason crotons figured prominently in that vision. After reading reviews of nearby nurseries in Hawaii Kai and Waimanalo, I decided Yamashita was the most promising. (PS One of these days I'm going to do a nursery crawl in Waimanalo, there are apparently quite a few!)If you're coming from Hawaii Kai, it's the last left turn off Kalanianaole before you enter Kailua territory. You'll see a huge sign for another nursery - which is another good one. Take the left turn and about a quarter mile in, you'll see the sign for Yamashita's. Park outside - no parking inside the gate!Once you enter through the gate, stroll through the rows and rows of flora - not sure how big their property is, but it looks pretty extensive. We picked our plants and brought them to the office/shed to pay. The gentleman there was quiet but friendly and helpful - he'll help you load your bigger plants into your car.Don't forget to bring and wear a mask - it is outdoors and not many people there when we went but it's necessary when interacting with the owner and/or workers. Show aloha, not germs - wear a mask!

In the attempt to support more local businesses, I've stumbled upon this place. The plants here are healthy and well maintained. I've never seen a nursery with such an organized layout and cool watering system as here! The workers here are friendly and helpful. They even put your plants in a bag so nothing spills and drive it to your car. Also, the prices here are competitive to competitors nearby. If you're looking for beautiful plants for your house, be sure to add this place to your list! Make sure your trunk is empty though because you'll probably leave with way more than you had planned on.

Showed up at 11:06 on a Saturday, sign says closed, even though google says open until 1pm. Nobody answers the phone. Drove from Ewa...

Nursery had a lot of plants. I was able to bring home two red ti-leaf plants. Adt workers there, were not so friendly and helpful. Just talking story amongst themselves...not tending to customers...whatevas!

Wow. Great choices. We have bought 5-6 the Mrs various large and small plants here. To include 100 linear feet worth of rapsis. Their advice is not self serving. They discourage you from buying Plants not suitable for your area. Here in Oahu there are so many microclimates. Michael Yamashita made wonderful suggestions for my yard. Thanks. We have the healthiest plants in our neighborhood.

Went here because of the good reviews on yelp, excited and with high hopes. Went there and saw rows and rows of tea leaf, palms of all types, but was soooo disappointed by the service. No one was there to greet us, no one approached us, no one said boo to us and just watched us leave without buying anything. That's okay cause we bought A LOT of stuff from your neighbors. They were great!

Started our plant shopping at Yamashita Nursery not quite knowing what we wanted. Saw lots of great choices but wanted to see what else was out there. The owner happily gave us a map of other nurseries in the Waimanalo area and suggested locations where he thought we could find some plants we were looking for. While we also liked what we saw at other nurseries, we came back to Yamashita's for the bulk of our buy. The plants here look the healthiest and strongest (maybe it's their intricate watering system!). Prices are reasonable. Heck, we even got pens with a LED light with our purchase. We declined the offer of soda pop though. ;)

Very impressed today on searching for new natives for the property I am managing. Yamashita's would have to be the best nursery in Hawaii. Have managed many multi million dollar properties and will definitely be buying all Hawaiian natives from this beautiful organized nursery from now on and referring other clients and Property Managers. Cheers!

The most organized nursery with well-cared for plants and very helpful staff! I was greeted warmly upon entering and shown where I could find the plants I was looking for. When they didn't have something, I was immediately referred to Koba's Nursery just a bit further into Waimanalo. They even gave me a map to find it! All of my questions were answered with patience and understanding. Awesome service here!
