“Was doing a tour and stopped by this place to pick up a quick lunch. Really impressed by how much different poke they had. Clean isles and friendly workers. Not a huge store but its a good sized one for most of your needs. Pretty good prices for all the fresh fruits and seafood. Would definitely stop by here again if I were in the neighborhood.”

“Cute small store, feel like family when you walk in. It's a small store but essentially awesome. Useful, I just wish the hours were later and had a few other things. I believe this store needs a makeover and bump up their inventory. It would be great if they did a farmers market days with local waimanalo farmers and events that would tie the local community together more. Mahalo”

“If you want “real Hawaiian” food, we were directed to this place . A roadside side stand that you might miss if you weren’t looking for it. But the line of customers showed how popular the place is. You eat on picnic table beside the road with chickens running around.
Service was fast and friendly.
We tried the beef luau. We were concerned when we saw it, not appealing to look at but very good, as was the Kalua Pig (basically pulled pork). The ice cream was excellent. We might stop there just for that next time we drive up to the north shore.”

“This location is one of the better on island. Located on the ground floor (parking garage entrance) of the Ala Moana on the western side of the compound, it is very clean and well stocked. Has a great wine bar but the true Jen is the Poke Counter, baked goods and food bar!!

Only downside is the parking. It is very busy and the parking can be tight and the lot very chaotic. Many people are careless and rude. I’ve had someone scrape the corner of my car and just leave.

Tip for parking is to park across the main entry lot access which is often pretty empty. It adds maybe two minutes to walk to store entrance and has a crosswalk. Less stress and safer to your car!!”

“We love, love, love this store! We buy a bunch of no waste, organic products for our gym. There are so many awesome products and the candy bar is soooo good! its a must see store. The staff is super friendly and they have parking in the back of the store.”

“I visited the Don Quijote Honolulu store in March 2025, which had just opened on February 15, 2025.

There were many people in the store, and it was very lively, which made me realize how popular it is. There was a wide selection of souvenirs such as macadamia nuts and chocolate, and some items were cheaper than ABC Store and other supermarkets.

The aisles were also wider than Don Quijote in Japan, giving it an American scale. Japanese food and daily necessities were also available, and it seemed to be used by not only tourists but also locals.

There was a wide variety of products, so it was fun just to look around.

“This is a really top quality supermarket, expect to pay pretty at prices though. Another reviewer compared it to Whole Foods -- but more expensive. That seems accurate. So many items are upscale and high quality. I think you might be able to find more reasonable prices, but it requires a lot of hunting around.”

“I have to say one of the best experiences I've ever had. The food was amazing and it was super fresh. We had a great time talking with server Pak and chef Chu san. It was very nice getting to know them. Fun fact: they have shipment of 2-3 times a week. So you know everything is fresh.”

“Located in the Koolau area, across from Valley of the Temples, this is similar to the other Times Supermarket setup. There is a small section for Japanese food and other Asian food. There is no self checkout, only regular checkout lines. Overall okay place to buy groceries.”

“Always a good time to stop and shop! Get there earlier in the day if you want to have a good selection of fresh poke. The furikake pork rinds are great to add to the basket with fresh poke as well. Good bakery. Always a good selection of local fruit options. They have everything you may need and then some.”

“I've only gotten food here and not groceries but they have a good variety of vegan or healthy foods, including some desserts like pies and cookies that are really good. Their burgers are also good, just expensive. $23 for a burger and fries...ouch.”

“Lived across the street for about 5 months and Whole Foods saved me! I love it and it’s a great location. It was always kept clean and people were nice! The food was great and I loved the cafeteria.”

“Grab the best poke you've ever had in your life and head to Kailua Beach Park. The wind will blow sand in it but it's such fine sand it won't matter :-)”

“Went to Basalt with my two adult children for Thanksgiving dinner (the holiday, not the food). Shared squash coconut curry soup and lemon pepper shrimp recommended by waiter. Both were outstandingly good! Entrees included shutome (a sushi grade swordfish) and mushroom risotto, both of which were excellent. And for dessert, mochi brownie and POG mousse, great choices. We tried the rum-based sangria, but didn't care for it and weren't charged for it. Overall, an excellent experience for the family!”

“This was such a good find. Staff are so friendly and for a small shop, it had heaps of options. Great to save money and just get breakfast and salad stuff for a few days. And their coffee is not bad either.”

“Years ago we looked forward in anticipation of what Foodland would create in our neighborhood. We weren't disappointed.

Kahala Market became our friendly grocery store. The location was perfect that it was walking distance from our home.

Their meat and seafood was stocked with fresh products. Produce department was varied with fresh greens from local farms.

The bento and poke became our favorite items we purchased consistently. The baked goodies were equally scrumptious.”

“Small but mighty. All the Thai ingredients you'll need to make Thai dishes, including mortar and pestle, shallots, garlic, ginger, all kinds of fish sauce and paste, spices, etc. it cost $4.60 for a ginger and a bag of shallots, not the cheapest but also much better deal than if you buy from a regular grocery store! It wasn't hard to find parking on Maunakea st for a quick stop. However, I saw parking enforcement's car there so it looks like now you gotta put money in the meters. It's $3 per hour or 75c per 15 mins, however long you wanna pay for.”

“Best plain musubis on the entire island. For those that don't kno, musubis are most commonly made with a slice of spam on top of rice, and wrapped with a strip of nori (seaweed.) They don't make them to order, but they off the shelves and are almost always hot. Many stores sell theirs with some kind of sauce with too much or too little rice. Kaneohe gets the saltiness of the spam to rice ration right, every time.

Growing up and living in Kaneohe, I've been a patron of this store for a long time. The owners are Korean and always smile, except for the uncles. But, once you get to kno them, you find out that they have an incredible sense of humor.

They offer just about everything you could want from a convenience ?!”

“Just a reminder, a four star review for me is not a bad thing. Four star reviews are typically better than most average comparable businesses in this category.

With that said, the Safeway is probably the main grocery store in Hawaii Kai. The only other comparable store is Costco, but you need a membership. Plus, at the latter you have to buy in bulk.

The Safeway has a pretty wall stocked deli section and isn't as crazy busy on five dollar Fridays compared to some of the other locations. They also have a good meat/seafood section and a hot bar.

Typically, we will just stop in here for groceries. Their prices are pretty reasonable, especially if you download the app. So keep that in mind before your next visit.

The location isn't rundown or dingy and has a pleasantly cool air-conditioning system. The staff here are nice and helpful if you ever need them.

As far as parking goes, there's a ton of Apple parking in the free parking lot. Yes, there are a ton of restaurants and other establishments nearby that might cause some congestion. However, this year amount of stalls ensures that you'll probably find something without circling for too long.

One thing to note is that this location does not have a pharmacy unlike some of the other locations. So if you're looking to get a prescription filled, you should probably head next-door to Longs.”

“Only utilized the self help water feature. Convenient to fill 4 jugs at 1 time. Comparable pricing for price per gallon as other places. I'll definitely go back.”

“Enchanted Lake..Yes, I’ve watched this store GROW from the first GRAND Opening in the 60’s .. & love how they have evolved. The staff is very helpful, always aware & quick to answer questions. One thing I really appreciate first is the store’s Cleanliness; also the prepared fruits in containers that are perfect for hurried church gatherings or family snacks, and the selection of floral displays; fresh beef, fish displays are always impressive; still it’s the fresh produce section for our family except for the avocados which have been disappointing. Overall my family supports Safeway because they do an excellent job and serve this community well.. including, let’s not forget Community Awareness Like “Cop On Top”, yes I was there too. Aloha..🌺👵🏻”

“Safeway was always my place to go shopping for all food products, healthy foods, house, kitchen ware, hair products. Most Safeways have a customer booth and I think most have some sort of banking, all have ATM' s and thank God one of the few that packages and rings up your items. I am sorry to say that it is not my 1st place store to go to for shopping due to the price increases throughout the years. If you are on a small monthly budget it is not really a good place to do all your food shopping. I do love their $5 dollar Fridays but think they should have more options with that. I do still run in for specialized items I love from their stores. Especially when it comes to holidays. I know they all have their own florist section next to the cakes and pies so you could even make a complete party for any occasion shopping in Safeway. You will pay a higher price but if it's a one place go to for parties supplies then hi there instead of having to run around to many different places to get the complete package. The store is also very clean compared to other food shopping establishments I've been too. It can be crowded especially on Fridays and football season for snacks and sport patties.Aloha”

“It looks and feels exactly like a Sprout in California, except it only serves vegetarian prepped food here. Other than meat products, this place has everything else. Oh, I couldn’t find eggs either, so not sure if they sell eggs here. The prepped food was good, unfortunately I’m not a vegan, but I’m sure vegetarians and vegans would love this place. Even the burgers from the deli were vegan burgers. There were seats if you’d prefer yo eat your food here.

Wheelchair accessibility: Yes”

“Products are overall very well placed. However, it is very expensive besides this small to some of the other locations, probably would advise to go to Ward Ave instead.”

“Times continues to top the list of places with "real hometown feel."Every time I've been in, I've been helped by a very friendly and customer service oriented person, regardless of the department, or even how obvious the solution to my request/need was. Thank you and I hope you always enjoy what you do because it shows!”

“First time in Hawaii! All glory to God! We have been to 4 foodlands and I have to say this 1 was the best. she literally had us try everything before ordering which makes it a million times better for foreigners! Thank you so much for that!”

“Went for 1 item, wasn't sure if they would carry the product. The angels were with me because despite crazy drivers, ridiculous rain and absurd winds, I was able to purchase this item without a problem. Oh, and for the first time I paid contactless ..... super weird but oddly satisfying.”

“November 5 - 12, 2022 - This was a special birthday trip that my son surprised me with. He also wanted to surprise his grandparents, and his uncle surprised us all. We all live in Vegas and we went home for a surprise visit. I grew up in Kaneohe and so happy to see that there were very little changes to this store. Our mission was poke, poi and raw crab, and just the taste that is not the same in Vegas. I definitely got all three. The last time we went to Times on this trip, I told my son I will walk in the store and probably know someone, lol and I did run into someone I knew. It's always nice to run into people you haven't seen in years. I liked the seafood counter and how everything looked so good. There was also a Japanese section with lots of goodies. Walking into this store it always feels like home. It gives you a comforting feeling. The one thing that was really different was that plastic grocery bags aren't used, I guess if you do get them you have to pay for them. The atmosphere is always welcoming when you walk in the door. If your in Kaneohe, stop on in and get you some delicious Poke to enjoy and all the other yumminess you can find at the Seafood Counter.”

“Saim from Yobo Mart is amazing. If they don't have it, just ask. They will bend over backward to make each customer is happy. The food is fantastic! If you want it extra delicious, ask Saim to make it. ?”

“The deli section of Whole Foods is delicious and I use it often when I go to Hawaii. Prices are determined by the weight of the box for each category of side dishes, so you can add a variety of different types or just meat.

This is an interesting system that I have never seen before in Japan, where there is no price attached to each side dish, and the price is determined simply by weight. The price of soup is determined by the size of the container, so it's better to fill it with as much as you can.

If you don't know how this works, you won't know how to buy it, so I hope this helps.”
