“Clean rooms and grounds. Lots of walking at Waikoloa. Lagoon and pools are great. Restaurants are pricey but food is great. Get take out from Nui to save a few bucks. Wonderful art walk and paths along the beaches. Friendly and helpful staff. Valets are fast.”
“It was a dream! From the check in counter ( they even gave us leis upon arrival), to Meridia where we had dinner on our first night ( food was really good and the chef even came to deliver the birthday dessert) stunning views at Piko Coffee & Bar over iced coffee and cocktails with live music, and amazing breakfast at Ikena Landing! Our whole stay was exceptional. Our suite was spectacular! They even sent Prosecco in an iced bucket with a lovely birthday card for my husband. Rebecca at Meridia, our server, made sure we felt welcome and well taken cared of. I’ll be honest, all personalized service, not a single issue. We loved it and we will come again!”
“Our stay at the Fairmont Orchid rivals our previous stays at the Four Seasons on Maui, the Grand Hyatt on Kuaui, and The Kahala Hotel on Oahu.
We were there for the tsunami of July 2025. We give high marks to all of the staff here at Fairmont Orchid. They all remained calm throughout, and provided us with as much info as they had available at the time. At first directing guests to gather in the ballroom for a spontaneous buffet dinner, and then pivoting to direct us to the offsite shelter location, where your team were always visible as they continued to shuttle us water and snacks. All of the Fairmont staff showed great empathy and professionalism throughout the experience. We were impressed that many of your staff remained with us rather than return to their own homes.
This is not our first time at an Accor venue, but it is our first time at Fairmont Orchid. Based on this experience, we will be favoring Fairmont properties going forward.”

“This Lodge is located perfectly for exploring Waimea. The Hawaiian style cafe is only few minutes walk away, several supermarkets and restaurants are also close by. It's silent during nights, until the chickens wake up at sunrise. The room we had was very spacious, as was the bathroom. Many towels were provided, as well as body wash and soap. The fridge was very handy and the beds were the most comfortable beds we ever experienced in a hotel.
The price is reasonable and the service was great (with easy late check in instructions).
Rooms: Spacious, many closets, very comfortable beds
Walkability: Supermarkets and restaurants near by”
“This was our second stay, and we returned because we truly loved our first visit. The resort itself is still excellent — clean and spacious rooms, very comfortable bedding, and a quiet, peaceful neighborhood that makes it easy to relax.
However, compared to our previous stay, the front desk experience felt noticeably less friendly and professional.
Check-in took about 20 minutes with no communication about the delay. My name was linked to the wrong reservation even after presenting my driver’s license, and there was no explanation or apology. Another staff member stepped in, but the interaction felt tense rather than helpful.
When explaining the city tax and $250 deposit, the receptionist used his personal cellphone to calculate the total to pre-charge my card, which felt unprofessional and raised concerns about accuracy.
Checkout had similar issues — slow, unclear, and again requiring staff assistance. I was told my receipt would be emailed, but I never received it.
One smaller but unexpected note: we requested combs and were told the resort does not provide them, which was surprising for a hotel in this category.
Overall, the resort and room quality remain strong, but the front desk service did not match the level of our previous stay. Hopefully, with better training and clearer processes, the guest experience can return to the standard that originally made us want to come back.”
