I stayed here last May and couldn't have asked for a better location for exploring Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The staff were incredibly friendly and offered great recommendations for our trip. The breakfast was a highlight, especially the freshly made banana bread. I've been craving it ever since and even had to reach out for the recipe!

If you are visiting the area, do not hesitate to book Volcano Inn. It was our favourite place we stayed while visiting the Big Island.
Not only are the rooms comfortable, the surroundings beautiful and the breakfast delicious, but the staff are so kind. We had to cut our trip short due to an emergency and they refunded us simply out of the goodness of their hearts - when we booked it said non-refundable so I’m sure most hotels would take the attitude that it was “not their problem”, but not at Volcano Inn.
This place epitomises all that is beautiful about Hawaain culture. Mahalo to the team ❤️

My partner Patrick & I stayed here for 3 nights and had such a wonderful time! We care about supporting locals wherever we travel and would choose this place over a franchise resort any day. Staff was so welcoming, location was perfect, & our room was cozy with everything we needed. Thank you for being such amazing hosts! Mahalo! ????

This place is in dire need of updating. It is honestly really gross. From the black mold and hair in the tub to the lack of heat and cooling. It is just lacking in every aspect, except location. Just have a glance at my pictures. Everything in this place feels hodge-podge and done with a handyman's skill level. The sign in the bathroom encouraging people to take a dip in the hot tub instead of using the bath in the unit, seems to sum up the attitude of this place.

This place was pretty cool. Our room was huge and had bedding for the whole family. It felt like we were in a rainforest! Everyone liked the breakfast. The breakfast won't fill you up, but it was still delicious. We would stay here again.

Excellent place to stay, if you are visiting Volcanoes National Park. Lush green surroundings. Very clean rooms. It is very close to the National Park and has grocery, restaurants and gas nearby. They serve breakfast - cute papaya boats with yogurt/ fruit, and banana bread.
Highlight of our stay was the manager Tabby. She was super kind, helpful and accommodating of our needs.

Excellent location right outside the National Park. A little tough to find the entrance - especially in the dark.
Feels like living in the rain forest.
Papaya bowls and banana bread breakfast.
Outdoor Hot tub.

This is one property where I am reading the reviews after I stayed here. I am normally traveling 90 days in a year for business as well as family vacations. This inn is packed with lots of good reviews but before you choose this place, make sure you read all reviews which are marked 1 star or 2 star. These are correct reviews and concerns the most when you are actually renting this place.
I chose this inn for the fact that it is very close to Volcano National Park. I reserved this for 2 nights for Dec 25th and 26th. I had the most expensive room which was listed on the website. All comments which are written under 1 star reviews are accurate and correct. I wish I would have paid more attention before reserving this place. The place is dirty, disgusting and hazardous. Beds, sheets and pillows are from 80s and God knows when they were washed. Beds were noisy and most uncomfortable it could get. Mold on the walls, bugs in the room, bed bugs, hard spring in the beds, uncomfortable temperature in the room and much more...you name it and that problem was there.
We wanted to leave same night we arrived but we got there so late after our long day and drive so we decided to leave in the morning. We didn't care about any refund for unused night and we just chose another place which was lot better. I lost my money here, fine it was nonrefundable but my family's comfort and health was more important than refund.
Guys, don't fall for many good reviews of this place, this place is a dump and doesn't deserve to stay in business. All new travelers, if you are lucky, you will read this review and all other reviews with 1 star. Simply avoid this place.
I wouldn't say the present staff was rude or ignoring nature. Couple of staff members with whom I interacted, were not rude at all. They were fine.
The management or ownership, whoever is answering the comments, seems to be very inexperienced and negative nature. Instead of working towards the problem and correcting issues, they are attacking with very poor replies.
I left the place 24 hours before my check out time because there was nothing talk to anyone about. The condition the property is in, couldn't have done anything for us. We had a sleepless night on Christmas night but we were better once we changed our hotel.
Travelers, I hope you read all 1 star reviews before you choose this dump. You will only be doing yourselves a favor.

One of the only places I go to for vacation and it just never disappoints. Always come up here every few months just catch a break and have always enjoyed the peace, and the quiet that im given here. Always has been the most HIGHLY affordable vacation place to stay while visiting the National Park. The Window Corner Rooms have always been some of my favorite rooms staying anywhere, always love an outdoor hottub in the rainforest. Service has always been extremely kind to me for the past 6 years of coming here and always have recommeded it to my personal clients as my #1 place to stay on the Big Island

If you plan to visit the Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii, this is one of the best options. The place is charming in the middle of nature. The rooms are very comfortable and have an incredible view of the gardens and you are just five minutes away from the park by driving!
in the morning. You can have excellent coffee and fruit and some bread, it is one of the best options to stay in the area!
On the side during the day outside the property, there is a Food Truck that sells delicious Thai food!
Magnificent accommodation option!

Great little spot to stay for a night. Hot tub was nice during a late night rain. Everything is clean. The breakfast was great. Banana bread was on point, but those papaya boats brought me back to life the morning after a big day of travel.

Rooms: The corner room windows were lovely. The pillows and towels were terribly thin and the room lacked good lighting.
Nearby activities: Very close to the entrance to Volcanoes NP.
Food & drinks: The breakfast was nice, light, papaya boat and banana bread daily. Self serve and bus your own table.
