I will admit I'm not a fan of the Don Quixote stores, I try to avoid them but I will admit the Pearl City location is the better of the two I've had experience with. Parking is better, the small restaurants okay, the entrance is definitely more inviting. Maybe the square footage allows more room for their products to be shown in a less cramped area. I don't feel I'm in a labyrinth when I'm looking for something. The shelves don't feel stuffed to the point of confusion. The other day I needed to pick up a gift card for a friend who loves DQ shopping so I picked up a Soba Salad and a pack of ChuToro. Soba salad was satisfying the ChuToro wasn't the freshest....about the best I could say was that I didn't die, but wouldn't do it again. I've bought two rice cookers, lol I think this was Daiai when I bought the first one and just recently replaced it because it kept sparking when I plugged it in and a couple of months ago I bought an electric griddle I saw on Amazon but carried here for about the same price. I usually pick up their Spam Musubis for the kids and their California rolls both of which they take for breakfast. One more thing I buy here are the bags of Manila clams, the family luvs them in broth with crusty bread. Guess I buy more here than I thought!

I really wanted some custard donuts but my son said I had had enough. We went to the grocery store so I found the next best thing A Custard Pie! It was good! They have various prepackaged dessert type things here. Also from different countries! 6.99 for a whole pie is not bad!

Such a fun stop on our trip to Oahu- nothing like it where we live on the mainland. So many fun snacks and foods to try- brought home lots of goodies for our kids.

Bought the prime rib plate. Good portions. Comes with potato salad and vegetables. $15.99 I don't see similar deals in Albuquerque.

DonKi in Pearl City has been a reliable staple to the community for years and it's apparent in the structure of the business, but as I write this I am happy to notice big improvements being made. I am looking forward to this place growing and maybe even starting to offer as much as the one in town as well. First, their heated section is growing! I come here often for their bentos that are sold at a great price. One day I noticed that they brought in a bigger display, the one with the heated lamps, and that is the new home for the bentos! It's about five times the size of the original one, which is great because they're already utilizing it to offer more heated options. Just recently I bought tteokbokki from Elim in H-Mart and I wanted something on the side so I got one pound of tonkatsu from DonKi; just the tonkatsu, no sides or anything. The plate of only tonkatsu is so convenient since I can just buy that, bring rice from home, split it in half, and it would last me two meals. Next, they're changing up the flooring, so who knows, maybe the layout might change? As far as what I can see, the DonKi in town does offer more options for sides, poke bowls, salads, etc. so maybe the Pearl City Donki is starting to upgrade to be consistent. I did have to take a star off because I wish they offered more ramen varieties and Japanese candies or chip varieties. Ramen is a big trend in Japan and Korea so why is DonKi offering mostly Korean ramens? The ramen section is small compared to the one in H-Mart and they don't offer as much cup ramen, which is hard when you work on-the-go like me. Overall, I'm looking forward for what else improvement DonKi Pearl City makes.

This grocery store was too fun! I could spend hours in there. Back home we only have Korean grocery stores like hmart & lotte so it was fun to experience a Japanese grocery store. There's so many snacks & cool useful things in this store. We truly enjoyed our time.

The number of Japanese products in the Pearl City location is impressive. The cost of those products are as expected pretty high compared to the American labeled products. But if you want to find foods, ingredients, dishes, household goods, toys, etc from Japan this is the place to go...

I was impressed to see what they offer, product wise, compared to other locations. They had much larger display set ups for specialty items and popular sellers. It was really cool see that they had claw machines, which I hadn't seen in other Don Quijote stores. You can always find go prices here, and a lot of items that may be harder to find at other stores. The store could use minor upgrades/ updates. I noticed there was much staff available on the floor to assist guests if they had any questions, which would make it easier versus guest having to hunt an employee down. But overall the variety of items offered was pretty good.

Not all DonKi's are alike - Note I was totally surprised, pleasantly surprised at the layout of the Pearl City location. Not my first visit to this location but, the layout, organization, cleanliness, and overall shelf stock impressed me here's my story. Comparing to other locations DQ in PC has 1. lots of parking 2.clean, spacious and organized 3. inventory on hand 4. helpful staff, even if they are vendors stocking shelves, they will try to help 5. produce are CLEAN, produce CLEAN PRODUCE DEPARTMENT CLEAN!!!!! DQ, Marukai and the Times Supermarket chain are all one in the same today. With that said, you may wonder why I would drive to Pearl City when there is a DQ in town less than 2 miles from my office. It's a proven fact that my driving that extra 13.5 miles (each way) is well worth my shopping anxiety for all the points I've listed above. I just have to be organized and go during off traffic hours..... I need to learn to make it an excursion! I will be going to DQ in PC more often, now that I have it compared.... Hana Hou

It was my first time at this Donki. I usually go to the one on Kaheka. The ready to eat section at Kaheka is much larger and that's usually what I go for. This is a decent sized store. I love that they have a whole section dedicated to Hello Kitty. They also sell body care, snacks, produce, meats and seafood. Like I said this store would not be my fave. I like to buy ready to eat entrees and that section is so small here. On my way out I saw a sign that they were selling Osechi Sets from Kyoto for New Year's celebration in Japan. The 3 tier is $290. The 2 tier is $229. The 1 tier is $139.

Today, when I was about to push the shopping cart to the car after buying groceries, something very humiliating happened to me. The security guard of this supermarket stopped me very rudely and said that I would steal the shopping cart from this supermarket. I said my car was here, but he still followed me. As a woman, this made me feel very unsafe. When I moved my food to the car, he took the shopping cart away and spoke Chinese to me. This made me realize that this supermarket employee was racist. He saw that I was Chinese and deliberately humiliated me. I am very angry and sad, please stop being racist, thank you.

This store is light bright and stocked with product varieties and bargains. From staples like food and household supplies, you can great bargains on souvenirs, toys and beach gear and more. Located in the suburbs this place is decidedly local. The building is in dire need of a facelift after 60+ years but once you go inside it is clean, open and bright with nice wide aisles, quality produce and lots of product variety. I'm at Don Quijote a lot during my trips to Hawaii because it's a one stop shop for everything I need.

I've been to the one in Tokyo and now the one in Pearl City and both are awesome. Their selection is huge for random foods, mostly Japanese and American but also a few other places around the world. My son loved their selection of anime figurines and other parafinalia, my wife loved the food available (Japanese desserts) and I loved it all! This one doesn't have nearly the selection of anime items, and no books, but makes up for it in food and imported items. If you haven't visited, I highly recommend it!

Stopped by around the end of August to pick up some groceries. We bought a couple bags of frozen shrimp among a few other things. As we were exiting, the security buzzer went off. A security guard hurried over and looked in our cart. Said it was the shrimp. Never heard of such a thing. This store must be in a very bad area. The experience left us feeling like criminals. I never liked this store to begin with as it looks a bit dilapidated and worn but I like it even less now. Luckily, I don't shop here that much. Speaking of carts, has anyone noticed that they only brought in new carts after H Mart moved in? Until then, their carts were so horrible to use. It's obvious this store isn't about creating a pleasant shopping experience.
