It took me quite awhile to finally write up this review as I've been an emotional wreck but I think I'm finally ready to. It's still surreal that one day you've got a healthy active furbaby and within a week you're doing research on places that can Euthanize her with you in the room and you want her to be cremated and be able to have her ashes given back to you. Our Khloe Girl succumbed to Lymphona within 2 weeks of diagnosis. Although she has another regular vet, I wanted to make sure that if we knew it was time to Euthanize her after hours there would be a place that we can take her. I called this VCA since it was 24/7 and asked them about the process, prices etc....the front desk was patient, helpful and compassionate. I was able to "pre register" over the phone so that if I did need to bring her in at night they would have all the information. We spoiled her rotten and 2 weeks later that fateful night came and we knew it was time. They were professional and in only a few minutes they lead us into a room. They allowed us to say our final goodbyes and when we were ready there's a call button and the Dr came in to administer the 2 shots needed. Although it was devastating for us, Khloe left us peacefully with both of us there holding her and she gave us our final kisses on our face. We were called in a few days and picked up her ashes that were in an urn, a paw print and certificate of cremation. The total bill was a little steep (approx $650) since it was after hours and we choose to have only her ashes (as opposed to a mixture of remains if they cremate multiple animals this is done at another facility/company) but I knew of the cost prior and in retrospect it was 100% worth it to provide her last moments as stress-free as possible and with her family with her. The staff was helpful and caring and the Dr that performed it was professional. I really respect the staff as they must see devastated animal owners owners that need to go through this daily, I really am grateful for their compassion. Khloe Girl we love you! I know you're chasing all the sand crabs you want up on heaven;)

I do all my pet care at VCA. I trust in them. They are expensive but my pets deserve the best. They're family.

This company has all the equipment x-rays scanners and when my dog came in because she was lethargic all the blood test exams IV for three days and they still couldn't tell me what was wrong with her. I spent $5000 for three days finally took her home still wasn't well yet and the next day she POOPED out some sort of plastic and then I knew that she ate some plastic that made her very sick but all the x-rays and exams that VCA did on her they weren't able to see the plastic piece that was a size of 3-4 inches long? Instead they sent me a bill of $5000 for 3 days and as a pet owner we have no other choice but to pay it! VCA has All the expensive equipments but still they couldn't tell me that what was the cause or a problem with my dog I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone The good thing about VCA was the staff were caring and helpful!

My prior dog was a VCA patient at the Waimalu clinic, but our experience was not positive, so we transferred to another veterinarian. We have a new puppy and are visiting from out of state, and our regular vet had surgery and was unable to accept our dog for an emergency, so they directed us to the Waimalu clinic. I was cautious at first, but I put my furry babies' health ahead of my previous trauama experience. I am delighted to tell that Dr. Miyaski was the finest! She was meticulous, and her bedside approach was friendly and pleasant. She explained everything to us so we could understand what was wrong with our dog, and she recommended preventive and ongoing therapies. Dr. Miyazaki should be your primary care provider for your pet if you want someone to look out for their needs and care for them the way you do. We will surely pay her a visit if we are unable to attend our normal veterinarian here in Hawaii. Dr. Miyazaki, thank you for your talent and kindness while we were stressed after returning from a flight to Hawaii with our dog. You put us at ease and gave us the impression that our worries were being handled.

It's really unfortunate that Dr. Lucy Teddy is the only non-rotating oncologist on Oahu. Professions in cancer care demand compassion, expert opinion, and clear communication, none of which Dr. Teddy provided. Instead, we received conflicting and inconsistent care recommendations, constant hoops to jump through when we tried to follow up with care that was recommended by her, and antagonistic remarks towards us regarding our clarification and treatment needs.Dr. Teddy is cold and cautious in person - she seems unwilling or unable to give direct and clear recommendations out of a fear of being wrong. Instead of providing expertise and clarity on varied potential prognoses, she lists all the possibilities to cover her bases without providing the expertise and guidance we were looking for. It is unreasonable to be paying a "specialist" rate for the specialist to not provide clear recommendations based on expertise and tailored to our pet's medical history if I can find the same information online. She is also unwilling to pursue her own recommendations without further monthly excessive testing on our 13 yo cancer patient dog that we would just like palliative care for as we have exhausted every test and treatment option already.Given the fact she is the only non-rotating oncologist on the island, we were hoping for continuity of care, but had difficulty even getting responses when we had care questions (as they filter all calls through vet techs). VERC has rotating oncologists that are likely to be more compassionate and clear. On a more positive note, Dr. Lam performed a surgery on our 13 yo dog without complications. We are grateful for his surgical expertise and the clear communication he provided.

I write this as a military member that was trying to get my dog to my next duty station from Hawaii. TL;DR: These guys will cheat you so very hard. Go to petvet, where I spent $60 on the health certificate versus $330 at VCA Do not use this vet. Please, please, for your sake do not go here. I had been coming to VCA for the last year or so and I never thought twice about changing vets. I never thought twice when the doctors couldn't diagnose my dogs ailments and would just send me home with expensive pills. They did this again and again only for them to do nothing. I thought they were doing their best, but recent events have me reconsidering this. When time came for me to make arrangements to ship my dog, these jokers took my appointment for the health certificate. I had the vet fill out all my forms, and left after spending $330. Ten days later, my dog's flight is delayed and the health certificate was no longer valid. American Airlines wouldn't take it and the vet wouldn't fix it without me paying another $330 for the forms. I did pay because I needed to get my dog home. $660 down the hole. When I had my dog at the location to get my dog on the plane, I experienced another hiccup. They couldn't ship my dog to Texas because it was 28 in DFW at the time, and the acclimation form had 32. Four hours until my dog's flight, I call the VCA to get my acclimation form changed so I can get my dog on the flight. Despite the temperature difference being only 4 the VCA manager (whose name I dont remember, and I wish I did cause I'd drop her name here) refused to get a vet to make the change. She emotionally manipulated me by saying something to the effect of "dogs die in transit all the time, and what you're asking for could increase the chance of his death". They would not help me despite my begging, I couldn't get my dog on another flight and I was bound to leave the island the same day. I explained this to her and she refused me saying that no vet on island would grant an acclimation form below 32. This was a bald faced lie. A mile away from the airport, I found petvet who took me in as a walk in and with the urgency of everything, they saw me relatively quick. They did the same health certificate for $60 instead of $330, and sent me on my way with an acclimation form that got my dog on his plane. These absolute heartless people robbed me of my money because they knew that I'd pay anything to keep my dog healthy and that I'd pay to keep him with me. They don't care about the military or our service to the country. I know that this has been long, and if you take anything away from this review, please let it be this: f*** these guys, go to petvet or anybody else

It really depends on who you get. My cat went in for emergency services last year. The doctor who stitched him up the first time did a horrible job. I questioned if it was done by a tech instead. It eventually came undone and I had to go back and pay again. The second doctor listened my frustration and did a way better job. The tech in the evening were men and I think they were ruff with my cat (he seemed to have some bad dreams) as they said he was ruff with them. One of the guys had the carrier strung over his shoulder towards the back (almost like wearing a backpack) and angled my cat awkwardly on his side. I didn't like that. Any time during the day when the women were working, they said he was well behaved. So I don't know who to believe. What should have been a 1-2 week recovery, ended up to be about a month. I was there like 2x a week during that month (to take out and put back in his drain) Overall, they are good and have helped me when I had found sickly strays. The women have good attitudes. I will still consider bring my cat here, depending on who sees him. They have 24hr emergency services, but they are not cheap.

If you love your pet, I don't recommend this place at all. Because their treatment is suspicious and not trust worthy. Also they charge double to compare with other places. They have all equipment more than other hospitals but they didn't know my dog had liver cancer or not after some exams. I really regret I took my dog here at ER. My dog looked weak a few days so I took him here. They did blood work and exam and the vet said might be a Cushing disease so they injected cortisols and send a sample. The doc didn't mentioned about his liver. And said make appointment at primary doctor for the result(for Cushing disease)We got anti biotic and some medications. After that, my dog stopped eating and got worse. I called them but they said it's side effects by med.But no ,it wasn't. After 1week, I got appointment for result but they never got it. And they said they lost the sample. They refunded me but they said need ultra sounds for his liver and poked my dog liver and check if he had a cancer but they never know what was wrong. And they asked me for autopsy but I didn't agree to do it but They said there is no treatment if we don't know what's wrong. Then they didn't do anything but charging me all those exams. And my dog was getting worth and they asked me to take him intensive care but $2300 per night plus treatments. I don't trust them anymore.so I changed hospital and they are more better but it's too late. Another hospital did their best but my dog passed away after 2month from the first visit here. Now I suspected 1st visit here because he got worse after that. I asked them what they did to him but the answer was "your dog was sick already when you visited here". Omg the answer showed true color of this hospital. I don't want anyone to get through this so I wrote negative review. Some staffs are nice so I appreciate it!

I couldn't write this review for a while because of how much hurt this place has caused us. I wish I could give this no stars. Please read this to save your precious fur babies! This place disgusts me. My dog lost her life here, alone, at this horrible place. It's all about the money! And when you call to get answers, they just say that their board said they did all they could but can't give a damn explanation! We rushed our dog to who had NO medical issues prior to coming here to VCA, because our vet said that she would need a blood transfusion because she wasn't eating. When we called them to let them know we were here, they took over 15 mins to come out. I walked to the front door, worried because because our dog had an emergency that they knew about so you would think they would come out right away. Finally, someone comes out and the lady says to us "I'm only here to do paperwork, someone else will come out to get her. Is she breathing?" And proceed to tell us that it would be about $500 if it is an emergency and somewhere over $100 if it wasn't. And we would have to pay the price before they take her in. That lady walked back inside and she never came back to retrieve the patient form. I walked back to their front door after waiting for a very long time because my dog was still waiting in my car for over 30 mins. Someone finally came out and took her. They told us to wait for 30 minutes and they would call us back. No call back, so I called to check after 45 minutes and they said to still wait here until they call back. Guess what? Again no call, so I called back after waiting over an hour, and then they said they would need couple thousand dollars for them to start anything. We said ok and paid. They called saying she was positive for erlichya and that we can take her home the following day and just give her medicine. Oh and they had to add on a couple hundred dollars because they forgot to add in the fee for someone to read the x-ray. Hello?! If you know my dog had to get an x-ray & no one can read it there & you need someone special to read it, why wasn't the price in the initial quote? Fraud I tell you! We paid it because what else were we going to do? When we picked her up, they said she would get better and it's safe for us to take her home. But we saw no improvement. We thought she would just need to rest and recoup after being away from us. 2 days go by & still no improvement, so we took her in again. Then guess what?! They say that we have to pay $3k for her to stay and do all her testing. They call my dad the same day we admitted her saying that whatever is wrong with her is not what they originally diagnosed her with. wtf?! You guys were so sure that it was correct the first time, that you let us take her home knowing she did not get better in your care the first day. But they said that they will do a ct scan but they want to stabilize her because she was still weak, but if they couldn't do that, they would try and find another way. The next day, a different dr calls saying that they can do the ct scan somehow even though she was still weak. But we left it in the so called "experts" hands to hopefully know what they're doing. Then a few hours later, we get a call saying that our dog passed away because she went into cardiac arrest and they couldn't resuscitate her. Our perfectly healthy dog who goes to the dr for normal check ups goes into your care for a few days and ends up losing her life. The only reason why we had no choice to take her here was because our vet referred them to us and in the moment we didn't want to put my dogs life on hold to see if anywhere else could take her in that moment. When I went to pick up my dogs ashes, I requested a receipt of everything they did and what they gave her because I was already suspicious of this place. But you should give it without me asking! The lady was reading it to me & was like "they overcharged you for something but I don't know what it is" s

One star reflects BRINDA AND RAULS behaviors/interactions with animals and owners. I've been coming here for over 9+ years bringing in all my pets on different occasions, office visits, emergency visits, etc. This past few visits coming in with any type interaction with the vet tech named BRINDA, has been very upsetting and also left me furious. Let me start of by saying, this girl is not compassionate. My dog who is my child, came in for an emergency visit and couldn't walk, which was EXPLAINED numerous times to Brinda who was the vet tech that had to help us. I told her I could carry her to the back if she couldn't. She continued to drag my dog to the back. Continuing on the very overwhelming and stressful night in the ER, I continued to watch Brinda as I sat there for hours waiting for my dog getting evaluated. There was nothing else to do, but just sit, wait, and watch the interactions coming in. People were coming in frantic, as expected... Its a ER. Brinda would approach them, no compassion, no knowledge, with such a dull tone "whats wrong with the dog?" and an impression that she didn't want to be there. They would explain, and I could just always hear her saying "I don't know" or just taking her time and not compassionate for the animals or owners coming in. This was not just one occasion. Last week, I had a family member who came in to put a pet down who had cancer that spread. He couldn't walk and the owners were already traumatized and heart broken bringing him in. Brinda kept telling them to get another opinion, numerous times AFTER they said they already had 2 opinions and we could clearly see that their dog was sadly dying. If they could save their baby, they would of. Brinda made the whole process more stressful and not calming during such a heartbreaking time. She tried to tie their dying dog down to a gurney without even telling them anything. The owner told her once that he did not want him on the gurney and that he could carry him since he was in a lot of pain. She continued to get the gurney and was rough trying to tie him down. The owners had no knowledge on why she was trying to tie him down and to why she was doing something that they said they didn't want her to do. After she took the dog to the back to get the IV in, she came back out trying to make him walk.... As was stated to her before, they did not want him walking. He was dying, in pain, and very weak. If anyone has had to put a beloved pet to sleep, then they would know how traumatic and heartbreaking it is. To have Brina as a vet tech, is very heartbreaking. This was not just on one occasion, but numerous times and she is spoken negatively about by not just a few owners but vets and other vet techs are aware of her behavior. I am sorry but being in this field, it's not just a job. If she is doing this just for a pay check, then she needs to find another job. She doesn't smile, no personality, not sincere or compassionate. No love for the animals that come in. Another horrible vet tech is, RAUL. I do not care how many years he has worked there. He is very rude and has a smart remark for everything asked. We are asking you questions because we don't know, as you should be knowledgeable in the field you are working in. This behavior and remarks are very unacceptable, especially being in a very frantic and overwhelming environment in the ER. Owners are coming in concerned, crying, about their sick pets. I'm worried about my dogs health and here you are, making d*** remarks instead of answering my question. Basically implying that I should know the answer. Collin on the bright side, is a financial advisor at VCA. He is the sweetest, most sincere and compassionate guy. I really believe you guys need to promote him. He should really consider being a vet tech because he would be such an asset. He makes everyone feel so calm and at peace about their pets. VCA, please... You guys need to do something about BRINDA and RAUL if you guys truly care about the animals and owners c

My puppy fractured her elbow and we took her in to try and get her seen. Since it was late at night we had to come here and it's the same as before. They pricing is ridiculous. We were quoted $11K for surgery. And expected up to put 75% ($6.5K) down that night. The staff was very friendly but the pricing is way tooo expensive. If you want affordable and friendly I would recommend Aloha Affordable Vet. Located right in Pearl City ! We went there and they were able to do the surgery for under the down payment at VCA. They quoted us $4300.

Superb service. I came in at 2 or 3am because my dog was suffering from an ear infection and I took an uber. It took awhile but he was under such great care. They were able to deflate his puffed up ear, sew him back up and put a cast on his head along with a cone to keep him from scratching his bandages off. I was very worried about my pup who's really like 13 years old (lol I know he's old, but he's so small). Though, I waited in silence and was very tired, they had a TV in the waiting room, along with a pretty big seating area and a coffee/tea station. I saw a picture frame on the counter that read if the light was on to please be considerate of others who were saying their goodbyes to their fur baby and I thought that was really sweet, tho, I think they should expand that part because the photo is rather small but I get that it's not something people would wanna see, but it does give a bigger notice to folks who aren't aware. I gave three stars because although, this visit helped save my baby, I was so distraught and clearly out of it and while I was not in the best mindset, I got talked into signing up for some credit thing, and though I got approved to cover that surgery, something was fishy (to me). If I remember correctly they said I wouldn't get billed for like 3 months so that I could have time to pay back the bill coverage. But the company billed me like a month after and then just kept billing me with added interests and I couldn't keep up with it(I was a full time college student) and now it's on my credit report ):

Unless money is no object suggest u look elsewhere. Spent 2k here and they couldn't find anything . Second visit our dog was there almost 12 hours! If we didn't call for status check 6 hours after she'd still be there. Do your homework. Shop around. One positive. Staff is friendly.

Took my dog to the emergency. Staff was very patient and caring. I got frequent calls from them regarding my dog's condition, as she needed emergency surgery. The vets were very empathetic and explained things thoroughly and simply. The break down of costs was very helpful. Yes, pet care is $$$ but seeing the wonderful care my dog received was worth it. All the staff were amazing!
