Sensory overload! Amazing gardens worth the entrance fee

Beautiful grounds, worth the entrance cost to experience. Closes at 5pm but they only take visitors until 4pm. We were there a little after 3pm and kept to the right on all paths. This was a fun strategy because we ended with the waterfall and ferns. Absolutely loved the peace and beauty.
In 1984 Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden opened its doors to the world showcasing one man’s vision, the vision that he could truly make a difference in the world. Dan Lutkenhouse believed that if you took care of the land, the land would take care of the planet. He worked very hard to preserve the natural topography of the land and the native artifacts within the garden.
Today, 40 years later HTBG is a thriving nonprofit botanical garden, with paved trails that wind through 17 acres touching the ocean, filled with beauty and adventure around every corner. Located in Onomea Bay we are dedicated to tropical plants, education, preservation of the rainforest, and the propagation of endangered flora and fauna species.
