Mālama Market is a well-stocked grocery store in Ocean View, considered the best in the area. It is described as overpriced or pricey, but also as the lowest priced locally, saving customers a long trip to Kona or Hilo. The market has a fantastic produce section with fresh, excellent selection of fruits and vegetables, including extra large greens and local potatoes and carrots. The meat department is good, offering a variety of steaks and roasts, and the frozen seafood selection is the best. The store stocks all the essentials and convenience items, including fresh local eggs, specialty ice-creams, and a nice variety of other goods. The competent, friendly staff and cashiers are very helpful, often providing visitors with local information. While expensive, it is a convenient and busy normal supermarket for the area.
I had been transferred to the Ka’ū district and love it. I’m happy for Mālama market for they are very nice, and the selections, for the size of the store is nice.
