They don’t get enough credit for the excellent customer service. Try a post office in Hilo and you’ll notice the difference in service. They’re not only a post office, but an unofficial Amazon distributor due to the large amount of packages delivered in the isolated community.Thank you!

Nice people. They don't do passport replacement here, you better to go to the next town post office for this service (next closest town is Pahala).

Please excuse and disregard the negative review posted by this person from Texas. This is a great little post office, very competent ladies working there, and doing a lot with very little. Have you heard that the USPS is a money-losing venture and has been since email and the internet? This is Hawaii and a place where even a smidge of kindness goes a long way, far longer than complaints on the internet. Ka'u is the largest district on the Big Island and we're very lucky to even have a post office in our town. Imagine if we did not and had to drive 30 minutes to get your mail. And this person is throwing the post office under the bus as they try to deal with Covid? Please return your yelp-complaining, ungrateful self to Texas. This isn't your kind of place.

I love the small town postal service however why in the world (especially now during covid 19 social distancing) wouldn't you put the boxes in the nice lock boxes that have been built? We still have to go in during normal business hours and wait in line to retrieve boxes... seems kinda old school and particularly u safe during this time, not to mention inconvenient. Every time I try to make a suggestion or complaint no one reads it and comes back with sorry you had a problem with not having a passport service wth??? Just read the suggestions geez

The post office is unique because there is little roadside delivery. Most mail business is by post office box. The problem is the hours...office hours are erratic. There’s a break mid-day the time of which is difficult to remember. They close well before evening. Opening is later in the morning. New staff is sometimes hired but the open hours are never stabilized nor are they expanded.

Both of the postmistresses at the Naalehu Post Office are wonderful. They always have a smile ready, and are happy to help you with your mail- wonderfully patient.

Flat rate boxes are the best deal to ship your island goodies / souvenirs back home. At least to the US mainland. I shipped my goodies the Friday before flying home Saturday morning and they arrived Monday afternoon on the east coast.
