Volcano Art Center Gallery, located in the 1877 Volcano House Hotel, has been a mecca for visual artists since 1974. Centered at Kilauea, home to Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of the volcano, this dynamic and powerful environment has inspired the Hawaiian people and their crafts, songs, dances, and legends for centuries. As a non-profit organization, the gallery's mission is to develop, promote, and perpetuate the artistic, cultural, and environmental heritage of Hawaii's people through the arts and education. The gallery offers a wide range of handmade artwork, including paintings, jewelry, furniture, ceramics, fiber arts, hand-dyed silks, shell jewelry, and blown glass. Visitors can enjoy guided tours through the forest preserve, learning about the Big Island's flora and fauna. The gallery staff are knowledgeable and patient, providing an enriching experience for all who visit. Whether you're looking to purchase a souvenir or simply appreciate the art, Volcano Art Center Gallery is a must-visit destination on the Big Island.
Such a cool little place with tons of local art and culture to enjoy! I got some really beautiful earrings and a cool Christmas ornament as well. A great place for unique souvenirs!

Art gallery in the original volcano house building. It's pretty big with lots of cool pieces if you're looking for a souvenir. There's a rare restroom with running water right outside (while the visitors center is closed), so take advantage!

We loved the guided tour through the forest preserve with our guide from the Bronx! (Go New York!) Massively enriched our appreciation of the Big Island and Volcano NP’s flora and fauna
