My favorite vet on the island, I drive all the way from the Southside for them! $65 office visit (in 2024) and all pricing is reasonable. Last year, I did my Rabies Titer for Hawaii travel through them for $200ish (not including rabies vaccination which was $25ish) whereas other island vets were well over double the pricing. The staff is so friendly, responsive, and always on it. Highly recommend!

This is by far the WORST clinic I’ve encountered. Not only did they do absolutely nothing for our two giant dogs because the staff were afraid of them — they are both live bugs, but they promised they have no issue whatsoever with treating our cats. Lo and behold, once my cat gets sick — they refuse to even look at him. Why? Because I posted about my experience with my dogs. This vet claims they love animals, but is willing to let mine suffer needlessly. The San Francisco-based aren’t even on island, and have very little invested in the care of your animal. Definitely do NOT patronize this vet. If you do, you’re knowingly risking your pet’s well-being.

I really appreciate this place for helping handle the process so quickly and efficiently for getting a stray cat ready for his Forever Home~! ? It was easy to get an appointment, and the whole process of getting Tiny Tim ready to go took way less time than I expected. Mahalo you guys~!

I have always had such great care here for my animals. Unfortunately the women on the phone (with an accent?) Doesn't have the best customer service, everytime I have spoken with her she just hangs up the phone never says, goodbye, or have a nice day or any other recourse... at least say bye not just hang up on people, very rude for no reason. These are my unfortunate feelings for this women and she represents the business as well. The other employees are very nice though otherwise and professional to other human beings.

I used to be with a vet in town until I had to go to makawao vet unexpectedly for one of my dogs. The people there were so kind and compassionate to my situation. Kasey even asked my husband how I was doing when he brought our other dog in for a check up about a month later. Kawika who is in charge of the crematorium made sure my dog was well taken care of and given back to me so quickly. I will keep going back to support Makawao vet and the staff there because they truly care about your animals. Thank you ?

I left Makawao Vet seven years ago because I moved to Wailuku and wanted a vet closer by. Unfortunately after a few years I found the new vet to be practicing in a way so as to maximize expense. I finally left that place because I did not feel I had a voice in the treatment of my dog. Now, after having returned to Makawao Vet, I am thrilled! Not only did they offer a more affordable option for medication refills, but they also listen to me when it comes to treatment options and they don't make me feel guilty for not doing the full-court-press on my senior dog. I am thrilled to learn that Makawao Vet allows me to make appointments via text and they have a full staff so getting in is not a problem. Despite the drive, as long as I'm living on Maui, I will stick with them!

We took my dog to these guys to get shots and a nail clipping. We assumed it would take about 30 minutes. They returned in about 5 minutes and everything was done. I should add that my dog is utterly terrified of everything. She has the most anxiety of any creature I know. - and they were so warm and patient with her. I love this vet clinic, they are so awesome.

I came home on a Wednesday afternoon to find my 1-year-old cat vomited on my carpet. While I was cleaning it, he went to another spot and vomited again. He had never vomited before so of course I was concerned. On Thursday morning, I called my regular vet (in central area) and explained the situation. They told me they had no openings and if I brought him in, they would charge me for an emergency appt, which is more than double. I decided to watch him at home hoping it was a hairball. On Thursday afternoon, I got a call from my son to hurry home as our cat was really lifeless. I called Makawao Vet Clinic and they were able to see him. When we got there, we were greeted with smiles from the front desk staff. Dr. Boucher was so kind and attentive. She checked him our cat out and did X-Rays. We could not see anything on the X-rays so we were given the option to come back the following day (Friday) for more tests and exploratory surgery. Thursday night was torture as our cat seemed to get worse as the hours ticked on. We headed back to Makawao on Friday morning and waited outside for the clinic to open. Again, we were greeted with smiles. Our poor cat stayed at the clinic from 8 am - 5 pm while Dr. Boucher ran tests that ultimately ended up with surgery. Turns out he ate a piece of plastic that he couldn't pass. Dr. Boucher is amazing! She is truly there to help and she isn't afraid to ask her other colleagues for advice. I admire that so much. I knew she was going to do whatever she could to save our cat. After the visit, I had to call a few times to get paperwork sent to my insurance company. They were so efficient! This is now our new vet clinic. I'm willing to take the drive for the quality of care provided. **Side note, all the tests and surgery came out to almost $5k. If you don't have pet insurance, now is the time to get it. Call Trupanion. They were also absolutely wonderful through this ordeal.
