Before signing anything - double check the total amount payable and if it differs from what you're expecting - insist on seeing line items. I was to pay 170 usd but they wanted to charge me 212, when I asked why, they said it was taxes. Only on return when I paid, I got a receipt on which they apparently had added 36 usd of "premium road service" charge that I had "accepted", even though I wasn't even aware of it. Disputing it with my CC provider at the moment.

Need to write this review and hoping high managerial staff of this branch will take all possible measures to fix the problem with highly incompetent lower ranking managerial staff. I’ll try to be brief here and also will file a complaint claim to Thrifty head office.
Arrived at 2 pm on 10/21 to pick my reserved car. It wasn’t ready, was told it would be ready in 15-30 mins, no problem about that. Instead I was offered a mini van if I don’t want to wait. What? A Minivan instead of compact or regular car? How is it even a legit offer, absolutely not equal parameters and sounded like some kind of nonsense. No, big thanks. Then a nice girl employee started doing transaction with my credit card, trying to process it through the terminal. My credit card in the terminal slot stayed like for 15 mins, and I’m being told that they do have old computers. Afterwards the girl claimed that my card can’t go through and she called the manager. The manager told me that my card can’t be processed because it’s from PayPal. I responded her that it’s a Credit card from PayPal not actual PayPal account. It was always has been accepted since I opened it (5 years ago) anywhere and anytime. I said, okay, you have a problem probably with a terminal. The manager said “NO”, it’s my card, the terminals are fine. No problem, I knew it is not about my card, but okay, I gave her another credit card, from Chase bank. In a few seconds that strange, bad mannered manager girl told me that another new card can’t go through either. That became extremely annoying and frustrating. I told her finally it’s time to try a new terminal, different computer station. Much appreciated that they did tried. And then voila-it worked.
I wasted 20-25 minutes just for nothing, because neither an employee nor A MANAGER couldn’t solve the issue. When i asked a local manger of this branch what is her name, she refused to respond. Absolutely weird and unacceptable. How is it even possible, when a manger refusing naming herself?! Ridiculous! No apologies, no good manners, I was nervous and she just acted like it was my fault. Whatta hell was that? Eventually she named herself Manila or something like that, can’t even trust that’s her real name.
Incompetent staff/incompetent manager! Don’t care about the staff but I do care about managerial professional behavior and manners. They were not in range of ADEQUACY. Incompetent, not professional, bad mannered managers here. I do hope she’ll be either fired or at least be sent to some prof orientation sessions to boost her qualifications and attend some courses how to act with customers. That “Manila” was smirking, aggressively smiling, not responsive, not professional and poorly educated.
Please take measures on this Thrifty representative based on all this provided information, times and dates.

I was checked in and assigned a car.. but the key was not in the car ..When I asked for instructions I was told to wait and that a valet would have brought my car.. that's what I did.. after another 20 mins I was shown a car being washed and was told that was mine..
When I pointed out that the one I was assigned was still in the designated stall, they realized I should have been given the key at counter...when I was finally given the key, it turned out It didn't work.. so I was reassigned another car with scratches everywhere..
Upon return ( considering the condition of the car upon pick up) I wanted an employee to inspect it and confirm i would not be charged anything more ...her reply was " you took pictures,or?".. of course I did but I explained I'd prefer to clarify the situation on the spot ( If any damage had been reported) than starting lengthy and painful email exchange..
She was frustrated I had asked this that basically she flipped me off ...
To sum up, terrible customer service, Cars in poor conditions and a lot of wasted time

I had a horrible experience returning the car at approximately 3:30 pm on 20 October 2024 an employee almost ran me over in the turn-in lane, he went speeding recklessly past us in my husband told me to get out of the way at the last moment before he nearly hit me, he came out of no where. I’m sure this can be seen on security video footage if you have it. Hopefully this driver can be held accountable before someone gets seriously injured or even killed.

Didn't have the car I reserved, for the second time. Then called as I was boarding my plane to say I didn't return the key, which I did return. Only said I would be charged $250. Didn't provide a callback number. Nobody answers the phone. Absolutely terrible.

Why bother having a phone number if nobody answers? Good luck speaking to any real human involved with this scam of a company. All phone prompts tell you visit website. If you call no matter what time of day and use the prompts to speak to someone at the store it will ring 10-12 times and then hang up. Filthy car and no gas when picked up
Watch out for undisclosed fees and check your bill
Not to mention the “response from management” to all of these horrible reviews is copy and paste. They clearly do not care about helping you with anything and are only there to squeeze any bit of money they can out of you

Today I had a wonderful experience renting my car from Thrifty Car Rental at Lihue Airport. I waited about 3 minutes in line. I had a wonderful agent help me and she went above and beyond expectations. Everybody from start to finish was kind and professional and friendly.

Waited in line an hour and 20 minutes to get my car. I tried the online checkin/pickup and could not get it to work.
The gas price posted on the wall was $5.20 but when the agent completed the paperwork he said it was $5.37. I questioned this and he said, "Oh, sorry, the sign has not been updated." When I returned the car, the posted price was still $5.20. Bullshit...

Long story short, go somewhere else. Waited 2hrs for a car with like 5 people in front of me. Then once you get though the line you have to wait while they "clean" your car. Terrible terrible system. Go somewhere else.
To reply: about to return my rental Today. Let me know if you want to make it right.

I have been waiting for 1.5 hours just to get to the counter. I checked in earlier in the day,,, it did no good. This is the worst experience we have had with a car rental company. They should compensate us for the wait.

This location for Thrifty is absolutely the worst and most TERRIBLE car rental facility I have ever experienced. We booked a vehicle and had to go through 4 cars until we were able to leave with a vehicle that was safe enough to drive.
First had insufficient tread on the tires, second had an insufficient oil in the engine warning light on, and the third had low tire pressure warning on.
After dealing with all of that, upon refueling Texaco next to the Petco) the vehicle and dropping the vehicle off, they had the audacity to LIE and claim the vehicle was not fueled up and charged me an exorbitant amount for that. 100% SCAM!!
Now with our credit card company contesting the charges, Thrifty is still trying to maintain their fraudulent claims. Absolutely despicable!!

Scammers. I had to pay $48 at the counter and you charged me $208 without the $200 deposit. And on top of that the car was dirty.
