Thrift Stores in Lihue, HI

“Nice store. However, they pull "re-pricing" game at the register. There were 2 people at the register yesterday. One was pulling off tags and handing them off to manager at the register. The volunteer did not like that I had an orange tag [1/2 off] on 2 sets of table napkins. She "verified" with manager. Mgr. did not like the price, referring to a dainty white tag that said 6 for $6, and that a volunteer must have mis priced it. And that I would be charged the full $6 [$1 each]. This was mistaken because this was clearly an old "donor" garage sale label AND it had been on the white line napkins. I realized that I was getting only 3 napkins - not 6 - so even that logic does not hold. I also bought a much larger pile of orange napkins, which were also priced $3. Not sure if I got those at $1.50. I was so surprised I did not push back strongly except to say that even at a thrift people make decisions based on pricing... The logic of "it's all for a good cause" does not excuse such behavior.”

“The folks here do the best they can. I stopped by to make a clothing donation and after a bit of discussion, they let me leave the clothes. The other thrift shops are hard to get to accept anything anymore - so it’s good that they do.”
