Absolutely THRILLED that I found Ivy and trusted her with my hair. I showed her what I wanted and why, and she gave me the perfect cut tailored to my hair and face based off of what I showed her. I have a difficult hair type to cut and style, but she executed what I wanted perfectly. Also, her products and technique left my hair feeling light, soft, and healthy right out of the salon instead of sticky and crunchy and frizzy (which for my hair type is my experience at nearly every other salon until now). I cant stop playing with my new hair! Her space and style is gorgeous, her dog is the sweetest, and she made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. It was my first time going to a hairdresser and I hit the jackpot with this place! I was always skeptical as a curly hair person who tends to straighten her hair sometimes. My hair needed attention and i didn't know what to do. Ivy took away all my fears and gave me the hair I've always dreamed of!

I've been getting my haircut with Ivy for two years now. Her online system makes it easy to schedule or reschedule, she does a wonderful job cutting my hair, and her shop is a place of calm during my day.

Yes, I'm the only one not totally happy with my haircut from Ivy...but as a Yelp Elite my mission is to be honest and open about my yelp experiences. I called Ivy for an appointment and she managed to fit me into a cancellation quickly which was great. I parked in the free parking just around the corner, a quick few steps, and found the salon easily on the 2nd floor above the dive shop. So far so good. I made a pinterest board of different ideas to show Ivy but she does not have WIFI so I was trying to find a way to quickly get online when Ivy was very terse with me, stating it wasn't worth showing her a photo as she couldn't recreate it on me anyway. I was a bit surprised but I tried to explain to her what I was looking for, either a short pixie or a short side shaved bob and she interrupted me saying she wouldn't shave but would do something I would like. I was hesitant but I needed a haircut so I went ahead. The hair wash was lovely, Ivy game me a really great head massage and used a conditioner that smelled divine. When it came to the cut I found it odd when Ivy turned the chair away from the mirror the entire time so I couldn't see what she was doing. I had to stare out the window during the cut. I have never had a hairdresser do that. Ever. We chatted about rescue dogs as Ivy cut my hair but I felt uncomfortable that I couldn't see what was happening and that I had no input or say into what my hair would look like. Ivy ended up giving me exactly what I said I didn't want...a basic bob. I went in to specifically get the hair off my neck so I don't sweat in humidity, and now my hair is on my neck all the time. I also said I didn't want my hair in my face and now I have side 'unswept' bangs which hang over my face, and are in my eyes and mouth constantly in windy Maui. Before I left I asked if she could cut the side swept bangs into actual bangs so I could see but she had another customer waiting and Ivy was was obviously annoyed so I gave up. Ivy did what she wanted to do and didn't listen to me. That is why I gave 3 stars. After trying to live with the basic bob Ivy gave me but finding it impossible I went to Roxanne's in Napili and Maria gave me a rocking side shave with shaved back which is cooler, badass and much easier to take care of. Plus she listened to me and interpreted it into the style I wanted in a way that suits me.

Absolutely love Ivy! She and her pup Pokey are the duo. Love her cutting technique and how she gives you her thoughts on style and color based on face type and skin color complexion. She is very friendly and professional. The best part is the scalp massage and wash. Wish it was a little longer...lol! Price for services are not cheap but worth the experience. The only down fall is the lack of near by free parking.
