“I was on the hunt for a bathtub spout. Along with the big box stores, I came here to see what they offered.THE STORE:Located in the Kahului Industrial Park, they've been here ever since I can remember. Parking is limited and the inside are quarters tight, filled to the brim with hardware and household inventory. Sadly the small attached shop that used to be called Maureen's Gifts & Christmas closed up years ago. They, along with the now defunct Liberty House, used to sell Department 56 holiday ceramic pieces which I'm a collector of.EXPERIENCE:Unfortunately, their bath hardware accessory selection was less than the big boys, as expected. But, at least I can say I tried to support local! On the positive, what they don't offer in retail is made up for by their service. I was wandering down the aisle and a friendly woman asked if I needed any assistance, personally escorting me to the area. Try getting that at the "orange" or "blue" big box stores! While they had a few offerings, I needed just the spout, not the entire combination of shower head and handles, so nothing was purchased.TIP:Key cutting service is available here.OVERALL:Unparalleled service, average inventory.”

“Haiku hardware store is convenient, friendly and have helpful staff, they have good plumbing supplies and irrigation for filling in the gaps, great organic gardening supplies, amendments, and soils and such. Prices are very reasonable. This is the only one-of-a-kind hardware store in Maui, I love to support these guys.??Also they take 10% off gardening supplies if you are an HFUU (hawaii farmers union united) member.”

“So the shower valve broke at my 89 year old tutu's house to where you could not shut the water off. There was no shutoff valve in the water line going to the shower, so we had to turn off the water to the whole house to avoid wasting gallons.Went to Ferguson and as I had expected the valve was 30+ years old, not stocked on Maui and would have to be special ordered. Figured as much. So I asked what I could do to just cap off the supply lines to the shower in the meantime while waiting for the part to come in, so we could at least turn the water back on to the rest of the house.The employee at Ferguson sold me "shark bite" cap fittings and a pipe cutter, and explained in detail how to install them. Back at the house, about 10 minutes of work and I had the lines capped off and was able to turn our water back on! ?I really appreciated the patient service with aloha during a stressful situation. They treated me as a valued customer even though they mostly deal with big commercial sales and I was just a clueless DIY'er buying $25 worth of items. What a great experience. Mahalos guys, I will recommend you to anyone I know of needing plumbing supplies! ???”

“I love the people who work at Air Gas, they are always professional and kind; super helpful. I DO wish that they would update their hours though; during the Covid-19 I think it's important for all businesses to keep up with posting their hours correctly. To assume that "we will all understand". I drove down to Kahului from Keokea because the listed hours said they were open (I called to check and the phone just rang..., they must have been busy- how wonderful for them, that's great, especially in these times!)- and then I got there and "CLOSED". WHOA! I just wasted 2 hours, - that is very much a bummer and unprofessional of them. I think it's probably pretty easy to edit the posted hours for the company, you know, just to also help the others that are living in the Covid-19 world? Just a thought. So, they are NOT open till 4 pm, M-F, AND they are not open on Saturday - the only day I can come because I am working and I am an "essential" worker. I wish businesses would be even MORE selfish about their success and help themselves by being kind, accurate, and proactive for all!”

“I gotta give these guys some love! Every experience I've had here has been tops. This place is a vibe, seriously. Mainly, it's the STAFF! They are fabulously friendly people, always acknowledging you as soon as you come in, ready to help you find what you need right away and not waste any time wandering around blindly searching for things. It's like each staff member has a mental inventory of where every little item in the store is located. I'm impressed! I love that they're a small, local business. Just look at the back corner of the Haiku cannery - ample parking space back there for customers. Also, I can't express enough how happy I am that there is a sign right at the entrance of the store informing everyone entering that they must be masked up. I respect businesses that take care of their customers (and themselves), not only with their usual service but also with their conscientious pandemic practices. I will definitely look to Haiku True Value Hardware first when I need anything around the house or farm. Besides, after I'm done my shopping here, I can just pop over to the Haiku Market for some poke! Any excuse, really...”

“What can I say. I just love Home Depot. I like that I can order plants from Florida to Hawaii and have them brought in by Home Depot without an extra fee. They just always seem to have what I need.”
