Rochelle and her crew at Nukumoi Surf did an amazing job teaching my daughter Keira how to surf. They went above and beyond with everything they did, from making her feel comfortable and safe in the water, to making her and I feel like family. I surf in Cali all the time but thought having someone else teach my daughter while on Kauai would be beneficial, and indeed it was. Keira and I had an amazing experience. Rochelle and her crew understand that surfing is much more than just standing on a surfboard. At Nukumoi Surf, your not just going to learn how to stand up on a surfboard, your going to learn how to surf. In addition to an amazing surf lesson, the shop has everything you need. My wife and I took our first surf lesson at this surf shop with Kai. He was unbelievable friendly and dedicated to getting us up on waves. While out in the water, he was constantly helping us adjust our technique and eventually we both were able to get up and ride a bunch. We had a blast. I would 100% recommend him and Nukumoi Surf Shop to those looking to take lessons while on Kauai. We will absolutely be back!

Best surf shop on Kaua’i! They have a wide variety of surf gear, support other local businesses and the convenience right across the street from Poipu Beach is unmatched. Love the staff here too - always super friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

DO NOT RENT HERE THEY ARE TRYING TO SCAM YOU!! Was really disappointed with service owner lied to us about it not being his shop when we asked for a discount then other employees confirmed that he was the shop owner. Also the entire staff was standoffish. Overall terrible vibe and left a bad taste in my mouth. Spend your money elsewhere.

The best surf shop and surf lesson experience in Poipu! Super cute bikinis, dresses, and mens surf apparel! Great surfboards for sale and rent. Snorkel gear is clean easy to rent. Great selection of fins, bodyboards and surf gear accessories as well. Family own and operated business. Right across the street from Poipu Beach Park. So much aloha.

My mom and I took a lesson with Rochelle and had the best time. She was so sweet and provided such good instruction. She has such a great energy that made the experience feel so much fun and safe. We were both able to get up and ride several waves! We definitely hope to take another lesson when we come back to Kauai!

Got to meet the owner, Rochelle Ballard, and had 2 of the best teachers. Isaiah and Arya (?). They taught me how to spot and catch waves, were super patient with me. Two days later I’ve been out in Waikiki surfing every day all on my own! Great shop - worth every penny!

I rented a board here and bought some merchandise from the shop. The rental surfboard was ok. Had some dings on it but served its purpose. I scraped on the reef a couple of time but no noticeable damage, plus it had some cracks on the rails so "no harm no foul" The shirts, and other merchandise were nice. I bought t-shirts and earrings for my daughter. I'd probably bring my own board next time but it's definitely a nice shop. Check it out!

If you want to learn to surf, these are the folks to see. My wife and I and our 14 year-old twins spent the morning taking a lesson with Chris. He is so good, so chill, so focused on teaching how to enjoy the sport. “There’s no one right way to ride.” He put us in the groove from the get-go, and four of us got up on the first wave…and the fun continued from there. To Nukumoi, Rochelle and Chris — not only did y’all make our Kaua’i experience, we plan to bring your teachings home to Nantucket and continue our surfing journey.Mahalo! ☀️❤️??

Took my first ever surf lesson from Rochelle and had SO MUCH FUN!! She is patient and on point with instruction. I felt safe and challenged the whole time and was able to stand up on almost every wave. The value for the cost of the lesson was amazing, if I had more time on Kauai I would definitely take a few more! She is also just really inspiring, energetic, and fun to be around! ?

I took a surf lesson with them. It was great, got up on the first wave. We had such a great experience my wife and I rented snorkel gear, chairs and an umbrella. Very good pricing and better service.
