  Maui Recovery changed my life for the better. I was lost and unsure if this was the right program for me, but almost immediately after the first day, I knew I made the right choice. A life changing choice. There’s something really special happening at Maui Recovery. They not only guided me through the struggles that had led me to seek recovery initially, but the root cause for why I had been repeating destructive patterns in my life up to this point. Maui Recovery was able to remind me of all the small joys in life— something I had lost in my addiction. They showed me there’s joy in life when I felt none!

  Maui recovery was vital in my recovery from addiction. When I went in I needed 6 controlled substances in my system daily and was drinking half a bottle of vodka a day. Ever since leaving 8 months ago I've only had 1 relapse and the staff at MR were still there for me 8 months after leaving to help me get back on track. Do not be discouraged by the price either, Amory is willing to make exceptions on a case by case basis. I previously went to another treatment center in hawaii that I won't name but, when I showed up the services were nothing like what their website offered. At MR there were no games, what they offer is what you get. Lastly, these guys actually care. It's not all about the money for them. Staff were all certified and knowledgable. A+ service

  When I first decided to go into treatment i had no hope it would help whatsoever. I had no hope in myself or for the future. This wonderful place and its amazing staff have helped me let go of feelings of hopelessness, self hatred and worthlessness. For the first time in almost 2 decades i don't want to die, I want to live! The facility is gorgeous, caterer makes delicious food, beds are super comfortable and there's air conditioning! I have been treated with respect and acceptance without any judgement whatsoever. If you are considering treatment for yourself or a loved one I highly recommend Maui Recovery.

  I was a patient at Maui Recovery. It was one of the best things ive done in my entire life. I went through my life with full time anxiety. I would use alcohol or drugs to dull the nervousness. I did have years of sobriety but then slips on pills (but stayed away from alcohol for 30 years) and then get sober again. I knew from my current psychologist that i had grief and other emotions i never let out and kept buried within me.The staff, therapists, program specific problems for each patient, trips to beach and some fun things to do to break up several hours of therapy a day was great.I feel like a new person and I'm 67 years old. Their way of doing things have allowed me deal with grief, resentments and communication skills and am living a happy life. I could't recommend a rehab for whatever your issues better than this one

  Maui Recovery was truly a life changing experience. As this wasn’t my first rodeo. I was drawn to MR because of the experience they offered (nature therapy (hiking/ocean), the unique techniques there therapist used was a game changer for me. Not only did they teach me how to stay of drugs/alcohol but also a healthy way to cope with life. I am truly grateful for everyone here from the top of the chain to the bottom. I highly recommend this place if you not only want to treat your addiction whatever that my be, but truly find a new perspective on life.

  On May 1, 2022 I found myself at the bottom, looking at ceiling tiles of an institution of some random sobriety clinic, and I decided it was time to surrender. Now I could’ve gone the traditional route through insurance and found myself in a local facility that would not necessarily Feed my soul. I decided I needed to look for private recovery and what better place than the exquisite magical territory of Hawaii. Nick was my main point of contact and really took time and care to answer any questions I had as well as connect with me on a level that was far above any of the other experiences.  on May 7 when I arrived, I was scared as hell but I was also ready to surrender all of my fears and anxieties to whatever path lay before me and the staff and community at Maui Recovery did not disappoint. The community living can be quite shocking, but I also found it to be a lifelong connection to some of the reasons I stay sober to this very day.  The ample amount of time in nature, as well as joining that with therapeutic methods of Hipnosis and physical connection, were well above what I expected. Being at Maui Recovery actually ignited my desire to not only forge my own sobriety, but to help others around me and that is really a main key in this unit. They invite alumni who have and are still successfully staying sober and recovery  Lifestyle to come talk with us and relate on ways that we can’t comprehend when we are so down and in the thick of it. This journey is actually inspired me to start becoming a substance use disorder counselor so that I can maybe give back to the community that helped me heal so well. Amo, Audrey, and all of the other facility managers were quite accommodating and it was really eye-opening to see the level of care and lifestyle that could be achieved if I surrendered to the process. Granted, if I came into it hard-hearted, I would not have succeeded as much as I did, but that lays true in our life. When we are open and willing and able to acceept help, this place will deliver that.If you are ready and open, this is an amazing option. The combination of holistic and clinical information, gave me labels for the tools I was already carrying. It was not easy, its uncomfortable at times But, if you can get past yourself, and I needed to get past myself, the rewards are without limit. Thank you Zanny, Betsy, Amo, Aurdrey, Nick, ALLLLL the PA staff, the local food preper for feeding us , was 100% what was needed. Maui Recovery, is my Ohana 100%Nick described the setting best, ShabbySurferChic, if your'e look for spa day, this aint it, but, A+ on the vibes and soul of recovery.

  I was in a bad state when I arrived at Maui Recovery's doorstep in 2019. Luckily, I was in the mindset that I needed and wanted treatment, so not to discredit myself, but if not for MR, I would not be here. I am so grateful I was privileged enough to heal and get off the 35+ pills I was taking per day, in such a beautiful location, and with such supportive and professional staff. As much as this place became family, it never crossed any boundaries. I felt safe, comfortable, and became healthy again, after not having felt that for a long time. I weighed 102lbs at 5'6 but came out 138lbs, clear skin, clear mind, and a resolve to change my life. The curriculum they taught to help instill tools for the outside were crucial too, if I could advocate for the Non-Violent Communication class to be a standard in our schools, I would, it was that enlightening and helpful. Being in Hawaii was probably the biggest sell point, it's such a sacred piece of nature, the culture, the land has a rich soul, a lot to be appreciated, and MR was great at giving us amazing experiences all over the island. My favorite was going upcountry and helping on a farm, building boxes of produce that would go to local families. The food was also my favorite part, they made sure we had three great meals. I enjoyed our family dinners reading from our sobriety literature, talking about our lives and journeys. They also had lots of guest speakers, lots of alumni guests, so many incredible stories were told. I also met some amazing people in there that I am still friends with to this day. I laughed so much during my time there, to be carefree and only focusing on recovery is a blessing. It had been a long time since I had felt anything good, but they helped me find my light again. Moral of the story, if you're going to go to rehab, it might as well be in paradise. Thanks MR love ya'll!

  The staff and and experience at Maui Recovery was one that changed my life for the better. The grounds at Maui Recovery are tranquil and beautiful. The staff at Maui Recovery made me feel comfortable and safe the moment I got there. From the various types of therapies, surf therapy, yoga, music and breathing sessions to the relationships I built with the other clients, it all contributed to my healing. I will forever be grateful to the staff at Maui Recovery for setting me off on the right path.

  My partner went here for treatment for 60 days, and it changed both our lives. It enabled her to completely turn her life around and become — and stay — sober for the first time in over 25 years. I fully expected to outlive her by decades, now I expect it to be the other way around. At this writing, my partner is more than 9 months sober, and killing it.

  Maui Recovery literally saved my life. If you're ready to get better and are willing to put in the work, look no further. Who knew rehab could be such an enjoyable experience??There are a number of things that make MR different and stand out from most other places. Like any good rehab, they help you through detox and teach you new coping skills. Like any quality co-current diagnosis rehab, their incredible therapists help you understand and address the trauma behind your addiction (I've been in therapy most of my life and swear I had more insights in the first 10 days there than in the last 10 years.) And unlike any other rehab I found, they also reconnect you with the reasons life is worth living, and the other ways to enjoy and have thrills in life. The surfing, hiking, snorkeling, etc adventures reconnected me with reasons not to numb out, and ways to thrive instead of just survive. I entered MR knowing I didn't have much longer to live. I left with a completely new life, outlook, and hope.Before I got there, I heard that multiple staff members are former clients, and that they have weekly alumni gatherings. I thought, "Dang, who would want to hang around their rehab?!" but as soon as I arrived, was like "Oooooh. Ok yeah. I get it." The family feel, the above and beyond personal care -- the staff truly care about you and go out of their way to show it time and time again. It all adds up to something completely different than you'll find most other places.Re: some of the other negative reviews, Maui Recovery is not for everyone. If you're looking for a luxury Betty Ford experience where every detail must be perfectly pampering and immaculate, go to Betty Ford (and pay twice the price.) If you're looking for rehab for another person who doesn't actually want to go, and needs a more institutionalized setting with constant lock-and-key supervision, this spot offers too much freedom for that. If you're not going to do the homework unless someone tells you to and are instead going to spend your critical workbook & journaling time sitting around smoking cigarettes, somewhere with more supervision and structure is probably a better bet. But if you're ready and want to do the work, you will absolutely get out what you put in. As for the price, yeah, it's a significant investment, but no center that offers the adventures they do can take insurance (because of insurance companies' restrictive liability policies.) They'll help you figure out personal loans if needed, and will give you a quality of care you'd have to pay twice as much if not more for anywhere else. Also, let's be real, it's literally the best and most important investment of your life.Long story long, if you're ready and willing, this place will change your life. If you can possibly afford to go for 60 or 90 days, do. Whatever you think is so important to get back to can wait. Make the phone call; you don't have to do this alone.

  I have unfortunately been dealing with alcoholism from an early age, and have been to 4-5 other recovery centers. I wanted to leave SoCal where I am from to get away and re-center and am very glad I came across Maui Recovery. The person I came there as, to how I left was drastic and its due to the sincerity and effort the staff provided. I was at a spot where I was willing to accept help which helped a lot as well. I have been told you get in what you put out, and I found that Maui Recovery has the tools necessary to find success. Thank you very much for everything, my family is also grateful. Highly recommend.

  So disappointed in my experience dealing with this place. They are negligent, and the grounds look nothing like the pictures. I was attracted to this place as an option for my loved one because of positive reviews, but the place was a dump when I showed up; lots of basic maintenance had been neglected which gave the whole energy of the place a bad vibe. I wouldn’t have left my loved one there except that the woman completing the intake process told me that if I left, I would forfeit our entire prepaid month’s payment of $23,000 even though the patient had not even spent a single hour there. She also told me it was a very good place which had helped her, so I accepted it and hoped for the best. I regret this decision because their medical negligence caused my loved one serious harm. For the price alone the place should be immaculate and the unkept grounds were just the tip of the iceberg when it came to the problems this place has. When I came for visitation it was a running joke among regular visitors how unlike the website this place is. Medication was not given on time and my partner endured severe benzodiazepine withdrawal due to their gross mishandling. They placed him on a high dose of Valium, which he had never taken before arriving there, and then “lost” his medication before they had completed his taper protocol, so he was taken off cold-turkey, and although he alerted them that he was supposed to continue on this medication, they said they saw the error and they would take care of it, but they did nothing. He went through severe withdrawal symptoms 2 days later. Benzodiazepine withdrawals have killed people. Thankfully, my partner survived, but he went through extreme pain and distress. Not to mention how much of a burden it was on me and my partner’s support system to help him through this crises when we had expected him to be safe and well-cared for the entirety of the month. We would sue for malpractice but we did not incur many thousands of financial damages, mainly physical and emotional harm, so there is no $ in the case to make it worthwhile for a lawyer. So this place continues as-is, free to harm those who trust them with their well-being and pay them handsomely for it without any repercussions. I wish for them to resolve these serious problems. I witnessed other patients there seeming to just accept and joke about how horribly mis-managed this place is. Unfortunately there are no other options on Maui for rehab, and some people are stoked just at the fact that they are on Maui alone, so they are willing to overlook gross negligence, but do yourself and your family a favor and DON’T send your loved one here if they are trying to recover. I hope you find a better place.0 stars

  BEWARE:Some of the workers here are nice people but the grounds look nothing like the photos (broken down and messy) and these folks messed up my medicine schedule that they put me on, and caused me to go through benzo withdrawals when I had never even been on that particular drug until they prescribed it to me!It was a literal nightmare of an experience, I left early and they gave me a full refund due to the negligence that they committed. They may be trying to help but definitely take your recovery elsewhere if you have the option.Also there was way too much downtime, it’s basically a $25,000 daycare for troubled people. I actually had a lot of fun with my fellow patients smoking cigarettes all day and going to the beach but I could have done that for free.

  It would be a gross understatement to say I merely benefited from Maui Recovery. I've always known how uncontrollable my anger outbursts were, a feeling of it is not me acting like this, an out of body experience that when I came to, left the deepest feelings of sorrow and regret. I was powerless against them, it is not a matter of if they would arise, only when. They have plagued nearly every relationship I've ever had, from family, to friends, to intimate partners. If you have known me for some time, chances are nearly 100% you have either witnessed one or been the victim of one. In conversations with my brother prior to Maui Recovery I shared with him stories of Jesus casting out demons in the Bible and asked him, is this what I have? At Maui Recovery I discovered what I hope/believe to be the source, I learned my childhood was not normal, I learned to rewire my brain from the negative, judgemental, size everybody up mentality I've had since I can remember. This has left me with a feeling of calm and peace within myself I didn't know could exist.
