This was one of my favorite excursions! A kayak trip across a beautiful bay with spinner dolphins, an amazing snorkeling experience! Bamm was an amazing guide, knowledgeable, passionate. It was a great day!!!!

We had such a great experience with Kona Boys. Everybody was so friendly, from when Evan met us at the main shop and got us fitted for a gear and Steve gave a fabulous tour. It was so much more personal than the tours that arrive in the big boats. We did the morning tour and were able to have the reef almost to ourselves. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We kayaked and snorkeled on a guided tour. The service at the store was top notch, and the tour guides Evan and (dang can’t remember his name) were even better. The snorkeling felt like being on a live set from “Finding Nemo” minus clown fish. We saw plenty of dolphins, the highlight being watching baby dolphins spinning in the air over and over. It’s expensive but well worth a top lifetime experience. Please be prepared to tip generously to take care of great guys who give elite level service living their best but expensive lives in Hawaii. Be physically prepared to kayak 1.2 miles twice. Highly recommend!

Thank you for the great day on the water. Evan was full of excellent knowledge both about the Amazing Hawaiian Heritage ( ?) , the sea life and vegetation. The lunch was great also! Thank you for the tasty vegetarian option. And thank you for the recommendation of The Coffee Shack! Another must visit!

Took the morning kayak and snorkel tour at Kealakekua Bay and it was awesome. Our guide was super knowledgeable. He shared a lot about the history of the bay, as well as the geology and ecology of the area. Loved the commitment to conservation and sustainability. If you want to snorkel here, I would highly recommend going with these guys. You'll get to experience a much deeper connection to this special place.

Great afternoon on the Kayak and Snorkel tour to Kealakekua Bay. Guides Evan and Adam were excellent and full of knowledge about the bay and its history. Laid back tour, equipment was first class and the whole experience well organized. Highly recommend this activity and Kona Boys.

We had an excellent time on the morning magic outing. The kayaking and snorkeling were phenomenal, we learned a lot about the history of the area and Cook, and had some really delicious food for lunch. I would absolutely recommend it for anyone who likes water spots

Awesome mid-day kayaking and snorkeling adventure with Bamm! He really knew his stuff and was great at helping the guests. The water was so clear with great viewing of the reef and fish plus lots of history and culture. The amount of time was perfect.

My husband and I took the Kona Boys kayak/snorkel tour of Kealakekua Bay in May of 2024. This was one of the highlights of our week long trip to the Big Island for a few reasons:
1. Our guide Evan was simply fantastic. He had a very warm personality which instantly made our small group feel relaxed and excited to be there. He was also an environmental science major who would have made an excellent history teacher - his explanation of the history of the bay and knowledge of the wildlife in the area was impressive.
2. Kona Boys made a point to get us out there first thing in the morning, before any of the boats arrived. It was so special to have the bay to ourselves.
3. There were SO many dolphins that we saw on the paddle over and back.
4. There were SO many different types of fish. We saw an octopus and so many different types of brightly colored fish. It was better than the scuba trip we had been a couple days previously.
5. Eco-friendly
6. Lunch was delicious
Bottom line - a very well thought through adventure to a very beautiful and special place. Do not miss.

My husband and I went on a morning snorkelling tour with Evan out on Kealakekua Bay and it was one of the highlights of our trip! The entire experience—from check in with Frank to departure from the pier back to the hotel—was absolutely seamless. Kayaking is absolutely the way to go. Evan is also extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned so much about the history of the area and, truly, no question stumped him. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone with a pulse!

We had such an epic experience with the Kona Boys this week! We were looking for a kayak and snorkel adventure in Kealakekua Bay and did some googling (as one does ;)) and found a couple of options. We are so glad we chose the Kona Boys for their Morning Magic Kealakekua Bay Kayak & Snorkel Tour.
Our guide, Bam, was AWESOME ? and shared the rich history of the area as well as the conservation efforts that he and the other Kona Boys are involved in to protect and restore the beautiful ecosystem. He guided us expertly across the bay, kept us safe and entertained and helped us make the most of our time there. The snorkeling was beyond stunning — it’s such a stunning reef with a really steep wall of coral that descends to impressive depths. Highly recommend you request a tour with him if you have flexibility in your planning.
Go on the early tour (7am) — it’s quieter and you have the bay to yourselves. Bigger boats showed up later in the am and we were happy to beat the crowds.
This trip was more expensive than the other option and worth every cent! Great value for the $$. We will def paddle and snorkel with them again next time we visit the Big Island.

We had a great time on the Captain Cook kayak & snorkel tour. Bam was a knowledgeable guide--we were able to see so many fish and learn a little about the history of the island.
