Captain Cook Mini Mart is a convenient store located near a popular hiking spot and historic monument on the Big Island of Hawaii. Visitors often start their adventures at the monument, which marks the landing of the explorer Captain Cook. The hike to the monument is about 2 miles each way, taking around an hour for active adults. It features stunning views and a trail with many rocks, so sturdy hiking shoes or sneakers are recommended. It can be a strenuous climb, especially on the way back, so bringing plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen is advised. Some hikers find hiking poles helpful to prevent sore knees. The trail leads to a beautiful bay where snorkeling is excellent, with clear water and many colorful fish, making it feel like an aquarium. Early morning visits are ideal to avoid crowds and enjoy the peaceful environment. The bay has a monument and swimming area to the left, but visitors should be aware of vandalism at the historic monument. The store itself offers a variety of everyday items like cigarettes, beer, baking soda, chocolate, and slippahs, providing everything needed for a day of adventure or relaxation. Overall, the area offers a great combination of outdoor activity, scenic views, and convenient shopping.
We stopped by this sacred monument of a explorer landed on the Big Island of Hawaii. Captain Cook's story is fascinating and unfortunately his time on earth didn't last much longer after his discoveries.

The hike was a bear on the return but the snorkeling was spectacular. The water was so clear and there were so many fish. So many pretty fish. Like an aquarium
