My blue put bull was not acting like his usual happy-go-lucky self, so I took him to Makai'i Vet. Everyone was so kind to us. I was very worried my Big Boy would have to be put down, but Dr Mina figured out quickly where his pain was, and started Kobe on pain management. God Bless you all and for the work you do.

I love this place! Although they can be expensive, but if you ask or let them know your situation, they will find ways or suggest other ways or work with you to make it affordable.

I will try to keep this as short and sweet as possible. We have a sweet and beautiful cat named Papaya. We found her on the side of the highway almost a year ago. She had severe infections in both of her eyes that caused ongoing issues, including swelling, irritation, and vision issues. She always had a respiratory infection that has never fully gone away, even after rounds and rounds of antibiotics. We were told by our original veterinarian that her eyes would need to be removed. He said that her eyes had ruptured. We were quoted almost $1000 bill for surgery (which luckily we didn’t have at the time). So we continued to treat her with antibiotics and giving her as much love as possible. During one of her early flareups, her eyes were so irritated and raw that when the swelling and infection went down her upper and lower eyelid fused together. She was no longer able to open her right eye. We were once again told that when we had the money her eyes would need to be taken out. I was never convinced that she couldn’t see. She was able to follow things and still catching bugs. Anytime I would think of having her eyes removed I would become overwhelmed with emotion. It didn’t feel right. I didn’t want my baby to lose her eyes… so I made an appointment with Kilauea Veterinary Services for a second opinion. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The doctor was so sweet and gentle with my Papaya. I immediately could tell how much she loved animals. I was very comfortable and felt like Papaya was in good hands. After examining her for a short period of time, she told me she would be able to perform surgery that afternoon to open Papaya’s eye, and remove the second eyelids that was causing the obstruction in her vision. There are no ruptured globes no reason to remove her eyes as I was told by our vet. I was charged a very fair fee for the procedure and my Papaya still has her eyes and her sight. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the doctor and this veterinary clinic.

Rude, belligerent, and disorganized staff. They frequently misplaced our dogs records. Rarely answer phones.

I am recently moved and found this vet. Visited a couple of times. Vet seems like to add whatever vaccine, whatever tests to make her money. Also she seems in the age of already retired. I barely hear what she is trying to say and can't trust what she says other than she wanted to increase bill amounts. This place is amazingly tiny and always crowded with mosquitoes. I prefer to bring my dog to a decent place where provides enough space and clean environment in consideration of the amount they charge and wait time to see vet even with appointment.

I love this vet. She has been my vet for almost 40 years. She has sensibly seen me through rough and smooth sailing with kindness and compassion.

Kind people Doctor and Staff, and they talk to you. Very, very busy. Staff will accommodate as possible and work with you to help with immediate needs somewhat. They are booked up and out as they are very popular.

New to island.. Called in for an appointment and the Front desk woman on the Sat was very unprofessional, impatient and rude! If you take phones in such rude way, god knows how you treat our four legged family members behind the closed door…
