For a real treat heck out the beautiful wares at Marta’s and husband Ambrose who’s right next door. He stencils and paints by hand. Worth the trip just to chat with the lovely couple married more than 50 years. They met when he was hitchhiking and she picked him up.

One of my cool mom friends recommended we stop here to get some cute clothes for our toddler. We swung by at random and noticed a sign on the door indicating that you can call and they will open up the shop. Sure enough, Marta came right on over while we entertained ourselves with the adorable shop cat. I picked up a few tops for when my little is bigger as well as some adorable little summer dresses! I also got two beach cover up dresses and a facemask (you can never have too many these days) for myself. Items are definitely on the pricey side, but all the fabrics were hand painted by her husband Ambrose and sewn by Marta herself so I was not surprised given the work involved. The shopping bag and tissue paper had an adorable little illustration that I learned was created by her daughter when she was growing up. They've been in business since the early 80s so I loved that we could support an amazing local, family-owned business for our Kauai souvenirs! Extra bonus points because while the credit card reader was taking it's sweet time Ambrose stopped by the shop to give us fresh fruit from their garden (freshest mango I've ever had) and a hand painted fish watercolor!

All women’s clothing are priced over $200 for shirts that have been hand painted. Children’s clothing are priced between $50-$100 (for a baby onesie). If you are looking in this price range for homemade clothing, then you will love it. If you are looking for affordable options- this store is not for you.

$225 for hand-painted shirts, that look like they should be $30. Owners are very rude, and will try to rip you off with a smile. This is not highly artistic one of a kind masterpieces. It reminded me of art class in elementary when we would tie dye t-shirts outside. If you want to spend $300 for items you more than likely could paint yourself, go for it!

Incredibly cool designs and stuff. Marta has a true talent as does Ambrose. Could talk to those two all day long

We were visiting the island for a couple weeks and decided to pick up some gifts. We passed Marta's Boat many times and thought it was a shop to sign up for day trips or rent water toys. After a quick Yelp search we found this was a clothing shop so decided to stop by. The shop is small and run by the owners but has a good variety of items for children and women. They make the prints themselves so they are unique patterns. I was looking for boys 18 months to 2T and could find anything particularly interesting (seems the island in general has a shortage in this size). That said, it's too bad I already bought the girls gifts because they had lots of super cute toddler and younger girl size sundresses! When we visit Kaua'i next time we will certainly stop by early in our trip!!!!

Some of the strangest things I've ever seen that are somehow considered art. The shop is filled with shirts and paintings that look like a toddler made them using sponge stamps and splattering paint on them. Things are dated back 20-30 years as it is obvious people don't want to shell out the money for this junk. The cheapest t shirt we saw was $70, and the jewelry (anything but costume jewelry) was a minimum of $300. Very very strange and extremely overpriced.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced! (Zero Stars!) Martha started out friendly and then when my girlfriend was getting out cash to pay, I slipped my credit card out to buy her shirt. The owner pushed it back to me, perplexed I pushed it back and said I'm paying. She pushed it back again and said ‘oh no' she'll pay. It was very strange! She then went on a rant about credit cards and in a condescending manner said ‘don't you know about these things, I'm giving you a gi

(Gift being that we were getting a tank top that was priced at well over a hundred dollars for 10 bucks). I said yeah, they charge you a fee when people buy something. She then called me an idiot, and then said to my girlfriend (who should have not purchased the shirt) that she hoped she finds love but maybe some other guy. Lady was beyond rude and insulting! The products are completely overpriced and not worth the money!

A cool shop with exquisite designs made on Kauai island by Marta, a truly creative producer with personality plus! Her husband, Ambrose, is a hoot and is an excellent maker and shaper of his own boards and other surf stuff in the gallery next door.

Love the one of a kind clothing and tees. 'Surf for world peace'. 'Evolution of a surfer'. Picked up a couple of t shirts as well as some greeting cards made with leftover material scraps! Repurposing with style!

Marta's Boat sells women and children's clothing and accessories completely hand-made and painted by the owner. Each piece is unique and of the finest quality. It's an amazing place. Leave plenty of time to browse. The children and baby items are incredible. The shop is easily overlooked due to it's stand along location and set back from main street. Parking in rear. Also, owner's husband has a store next door--I didn't see it but imagine it to also be worth a stop.
