VCA is my go to Animal Hospital. I live in Kaneohe and the staff there are always more than accommodating and friendly. I currently have a cat (Freddy) pictured below. As much I adore him my story with VCA goes almost 24 years back, when I had my Dog (Panic). While fishing in Kaaawa with Panic she managed to swallow a fishing hook and line that someone had carelessly left lying on the beach. It was almost midnight and I rushed to VCA which was closed. I called the number on the door and I was able to speak with a Dr. who from just waking drove to the hospital and performed emergency surgery on my beloved dog Panic. Words can’t express how grateful I was and always will be. Although Panic is no longer with us, I thank the staff and the Dr. for giving Panic many more years with me. Panic changed my life in ways I can’t describe. Thank you VCA from the bottom of my heart❤️.Aloha,Kawika D

I have a fat little Orange Tabby Cat, Mr. Bones. And we love our VCA Kane`ohe! I am so happy that it is conveniently located right down the street where we live, and whenever I get there the Front staff are full of smiles and greet us as soon as we walk in the door!! If I ever have any questions, they are always there for me too! And the careclub plans allow me to provide Veterinary care. I wouldn’t be able to take care of my little guy as well as this without an offering like that. The hospital is clean & I always snag a cup of coffee while I’m there! I appreciate that. We used to live town and I used to take Bones to a vet in town that was not so clean even in the lobby! Everywhere I go, when I make eye contact with anyone, I get smiles! I am soo happy with the care my Bones gets. And the Rx food he needs to stay healthy is right there! It’s always there for me! We love our Kane`ohe Hometown VCA! Mahalo Nui Gang!

This is the best vet clinic on the island! We make the drive to the Windward side to get specialized care. Our dog, Nalu is an 11 year old mixed pit bull adopted from the Humane Society. At 60 lbs he looks frightening, but he is the one always scared. The staff at VCA Kaneohe always greet him as soon as we walk through the door. He is given affection and treated like our special baby. We appreciate the knowledge and skills of the vets to keep our boy healthy! The clinic also recently remodeled and the facilities are beautiful!

VCA Kaneohe Animal Hospital sets a remarkable standard in both compassionate employee care and speedy service for pets. The workplace atmosphere is infused with genuine concern for staff well-being, fostering a positive environment. In emergencies and everyday pet needs, their swift response showcases an unwavering commitment to the health and happiness of our furry companions. I recently had to bring my pup BlueBerry in for a bee sting to the face that cause his mouth and eyes to swell up. Doctors and techs acted quickly as a k9 triage and Berry was 100% back to normal 3 hours later. I would highly recommended VCA Kaneohe for both exceptional employee relations and for top-notch pet care! ?

Thank you Dr. Jason Gray for your patience and care for my baby, Elsa. Her paw is healing already! Thank you for the transparency and communication on my options and the cost. I would return Elsa to your care in the future. :)

Had a situation come up with our pet and the manager, Holly "Noelani" was professional and courteous throughout the entire ordeal. The facilities are undergoing renovations and I must say, it is a lot more welcoming for both pets and pet owners alike! Melia was our technician and greeted us promptly with a smile and compassion. The doctor was attentive and explained options in a manner that was easy to comprehend and make our decision making process, less stressful. Noelani checked on us at the end of our visit and is out on the frontline with her troops, which is always appreciated and builds morale! Noelani is a visual leader and it was an overall pleasant experience because of her leadership!

This clinic is such a money grabbing scam. Don’t get me wrong, so far the doctors we’ve worked with here are definitely for the animals and do a terrific job. However, in order to be seen even as a VCA Care Club subscriber you must go through the receptionist scare tactics. Every time I’ve called to schedule an appointment for our pet because we wanted to have something checked on him, they talk about how we’ll probably have to pay walk-in prices even though we’re part of Care Club. They’ve told me every time I reached out for medical help that the doctor might charge me extra for the visit even if we make an appointment and even though we pay monthly. The vet we worked with here told me directly that they are not supposed to be saying that to Care Club members as that is the whole point of the monthly fee, but the receptionists say it every single time.We found Haiku Vet Clinic down the street is much kinder and straight forward with their prices. They don’t schedule your appointment while also saying “wE MiGhT cHaRgE yOu MoRe”. Frustratingly enough, we have Haiku as our primary veterinarian even though we pay VCA monthly just because of all the money grabbing tactics VCA pulls. Vet bills are always going to be pricey, but VCA up-charges unnecessarily and the receptionists try to guilt trip us when we decide not to make the appointment. Obviously prices for things like xrays and medicine is extra, but to be charging more for exams that are already paid for is a scam.We tried to do the right thing by our pet but signing them up for the Care Club and this hospital takes full advantage of our wallet. Don’t bother with this hospital, find a veterinarian office that is not out to price gouge their services for pet owners. VCA has good veterinarians and some good vet techs, but there are other local offices with caring veterinarians and techs that is not there as a money grab.

The front staff is incompetent! It took forever to get them to schedule the surgery for our fur baby. And once they did, we didn't even know he was scheduled until "WE" called for the 5th time to follow up. On the day of surgery, they told us they'd keep us informed and updated throughout the procedure. We never heard from them, not once (Oh yeah we heard from them one time and that was to collect payment)! But WE called them to check in on our baby during the procedure and they always seemed annoyed that we were calling even though they'd promised to keep us informed. Their commitment to communicate with their clients is severely lacking. Other than their initial "hi sweetie" to our baby, there was no warmth or true concern for our baby when we picked him up or after surgery. They never once called us to check in on him post surgery. Unfortunately, our baby passed away a week later and wasn't even able to make it to his post op appointment. I'm hurt that he had this type of care for his last vet visit. I cannot in good faith recommend this facility. If not for the surgeon I'd give it one star only. They need to do a lot of internal work and train their staff. VCA Kaneohe, you need to do better!

I successfully flew my dog to Vegas with the help of VCA! Dr. Ochiai and the VA tech double checked what vaccinations I needed and eliminated the unnecessary ones, saving my dog unnecessary pain and my wallet! FYI, if you plan to fly to Vegas, all you need is a rabies vaccine, that's it! But if you're flying back to Hawaii, you'll need a lot more. I also recommend using Hawaiian Airlines.

Sadly about 2 weeks ago I lost my doggie, and I had brought him here in an emergency. The staff was so friendly and caring giving me time to grieve and see him before I left, they didn't rush me or make me feel unwelcome at all. They also tried their best to keep my boy with me but it was just too late. I thank them for all they did and will definitely be back with my other furry friends hopefully in a much different capacity

Do not go to any VCA. I literally was making a life and death decision for our dog and Dr. Sia said over the phone, "Make sure you get the deposit" to her nurse. They dont care about your pet, only want your money. They know your pet is injured, and you are backed in a corner and try to add charge on charge. Their only goal is to make money.

VCA Kaneohe killed my German Shepard, 1 month shy of being 9 years old. End of March, 2023 my German Shepard had her annual exam. I was informed my dog showed signs of hip dysplasia. Vet said when checking her rear legs, there was definitely signs of discomfort due to her wincing in pain. Beside that my dog was fine. was prescribed Science Diet Dog Food that had 3x the minerals & vitamins for dogs suffering from knee, hip & joint problems. It was $125 per bag available by prescription only. A month had passed when my dog seemed very uncomfortable. She wasn't her happy go lucky self. Made another appointment with VCA for March 31st. Was prescribed 2 pain medication's to be given with her meals. One of the signs of discomfort was her appetite. So I was only able to get 1/2 her medication in her. The following day i got her to take her full dose of prescribed med.s in her. A couple hours had passed when i noticed my dog panting heavily and extremely lethargic. Couldn't even get her to stand up. I immediately called VCA and scheduled an appointment 2 hours from when i called. When it came time to leave, I thought i would have to carry her to my Car, but she stood before i could lift her and it took everything she had to walk to my car. Normally she would jump inside from 3 ft away, but not today. I had to lift her up and put her inside. I remember looking in my rear view mirror and seeing my German Shepard a live for the very last time. As I drove she had her head out the rear side window. A couple minutes later i pulled into VCA parking lot and my dog was unconscious and unresponsive. Granted i had made an appointment, but was charged for ER service along with them initiating CPR. I believe it was a drug overdose that killed my dog cause they couldn't revive her. While i was in a private room suffering from the loss of my German Shepard who was also certified as my Emotional Service Animal. This dog was one of two dog's that where my last link to my parents who had died a couple years prior. After my dog's demise. The attending vet told me he had felt a lump in her stomach and had inserted a needle into her stomach it showed signs of her belly being full of blood and perhaps the tumor had ruptured. Why wasn't this found a month ago from her annual exam. I believe vet was trying to steer me away of thinking is was the drugs that killed her. So while i sat there mourning over my dog two ladies came in with the bill. I'm sure one of them thought it would be comforting to say, "this happens all the time." I couldn't believe what she said or should I. Cause now, not only was I being billed for ER service when i had made an appointment, for CPR, I would have to pay for disposing of the body. They offered a complementary paw print, & I responded my, "screw the paw print, I want my dog back!" I couldn't get what she told me out of my mind,"this happens all the time!" Not only do they charge you for the drugs that'll kill your pet, they get to charge you for disposal and act like their doing you a favor by offering a paw print along with the ashes. Which something like $400-$500. In my opinion my dog suffered from a drug overdose seeing that i had given my dog the correct dosage of her prescribed medicine that killed her. I insisted on them refunding me the money for the prescribed pills that killed her after only 1 full dose, and the they take off the ER bill since i had had a appointment to begin with. Along with the pet club membership i had just signed my dog up in. I was billed for disposing of her remains and for them administrating CPR. I will never take my Golden Retriever back to VCA, because of what one of the attendants said, "this happens all the time!" I really miss German Shepard who's name was Pono. She was my pretty girl, my shadow who would follow me anywhere. If i paddled out in the water, she was right there next to me. So sad ;-(

VCA Kaneohe has been amazing for myself and my two dogs. I've had to call in for my dog having a sudden injury, and they have taken her in even though they are always extremely busy. It was covid times, so I waited in my car and a doctor or tech would call to update me at each stage of the treatment to say what had been done and what they felt should be done next. They have really been comforting and reassuring in some scary times. Yes, they are busy, so please have some patience when you go. Would you really want them to rush through an exam or treatment and miss something? The techs and front desk have always been very kind, honest, and accomodating with me. I can tell that while the vet can be scary for a dog in general, my dogs trust this staff to care for them. The doctors there have been some of the most intelligent I have ever dealt with and are always willing to break down and explain everything that's going on with my dogs. They have offered suggestions for medication, supplements, and treatments without sounding like they are selling a product but that they just want to offer everything they think could help my dog. And it has! Despite a few health scares, my 14yo beagle is going strong thanks to their continued support.
