TLDR: Car dealerships are crooked af. The end.Looking to buy a vehicle & not looking forward to the swimming w/ the sharks in the doo-doo water (aka local car dealerships). After doing some internet window shopping, I decided to actually engage with Windward Honda, which seems less sharky than the other two options. You know where this story is going...Windward Honda has a "feature" on their site referred to "Express Payment". Pick the car you're interested and get purchase price. You no boddah dem, they no boddah you. Sounds great!I picked the amazing Civic Type-R. They've had a couple others come and go, but this particular white one (w/ no spoiler?!) has been listed on their site for a couple weeks now. RED FLAG #1.I clicked "Express Payment" to see behind the curtain and get the inevitable dealer mark-up. Of course, had to input some personal info to find out. RED FLAG #2.$3500 Market Adjustment. RED FLAG #3 Too good to be true, but I wanted to see this through. Clicked to "Check on Availability" and continued through the "Express Payment" process until it finally took me to a page asking me to generate an express pass or some nonsense or schedule a test drive. RED FLAG #4I stopped here. A couple of hours later, I get a txt from (insert name) and I've included those screenshots. Well, as expected, the "Express Payment" was complete bullsh!t. Markup is FIFTEEN THOUSAND and the out-the-door price is much closer to $60K.As much as I loathe Tony and Pacific Honda, at least they wear their greed on the outside. I wonder if Honda Corporate knows how much damage their dealerships are doing. My family used to be a Honda family. My first car was a Honda Civic. Now we all own Toyotas. Not because they're better cars (they're not), but Servco doesn't try to fleece their customers for any more than the MSPR already does. On a positive note, (insert name) was a good sport and came clean about the actual price (or at least something based closer to reality). Appreciate it, (insert name)!

Absolutely disappointed with Honda Windward. Traded in my lease for a used car. They never disclosed that it was previously in an accident, so when trying to sell my current car the value is much lower. Since they never disclosed that information, I would have reconsidered buying that car. Secondly, I brought it in for a repair regarding the AC and briefly mentioned that my back vent did not blow air. When I brought it in to be serviced, they ONLY partially fixed the back vent and actually broke a part that will eventually not work in the future. And then they never addressed the actual AC issue. I used to always come to Honda Windward for buying and repairing our cars but I have lost complete trust with them because of my experience throughout the years.

I went in last night to check out a Tacoma and had no expectations of getting it, I was approached by Adam, and the whole time felt very comfortable and not forced to do anything. He did a good job on explaining everything and being very transparent and I could tell just wanted to help me out any way possible. Everyone was super helpful and friendly, ended up getting the truck, if you're there for anything I recommend braddah Adam

Again, just the service department. Second complaint I'm writing, they mitigated the first one. I was told last week to come in at 6am the following week. I show up that day just before 6am and some mechanic turns me away, says "no one is here," shorter, bald gentleman. Why are you telling people to drop their cars off at a certain time just to be turned away by a mechanic, times not free, you are cutting into my livelihood, again...This place is only good for warranty, spend your hard earned dollars on a personable, reputable shop, not some corporate bs

Update to the update: it's official, I'm no longer a Honda owner. Update: brought my CR-V (already owned) to get a safety check, which went great as always. While I was waiting, the sales associate talked with me about the price and let me know that they could work with me on a car they had in stock. It wasn't the color I wanted, but I heard them out. After running the numbers and bringing the markup down by about 2,000, I still had to pass because of two things. One, I didn't get a full breakdown, but the numbers still seemed higher than what they should have been, which leads me to two, lack of trust regarding the process, especially after having done this on at least three prior occasions and hearing the same pitch. Honestly, Honda Windward, and it seems all Honda dealers on island, are prioritizing short-term gain for long-term loss. As I said below, I've being driving Hondas for almost twenty years, and it's just sad to see how things are going now. ****I should preface this review by saying I have always been a Honda guy in a family of Toyotas. It's my grandfather's fault. I inherited his car and loved it. From then on, I've owned a number of models: Civic, Element, Fit, and CR-V. Unfortunately, my loyalty for Honda is coming to an end.The service department at Honda Windward has always been excellent (see my other review), but recently I inquired about purchasing a new CR-V. As another reviewer posted, if you want one in this market, you'll have to do the whole deposit route. I'm fine with that, but the nearly 4K mark up is honestly disrespectful to loyal customers. Yes, they are cheaper than Tony (6k mark up) and Pacific (even more), but right next door, there's no mark up to be seen. How do I know? I walked right over and put a deposit down and ordered a vehicle for LESS than MSRP. They will tell you the markup is baked in, but I haven't seen it yet and as both Hondas and Toyotas retain their value, I don't see any reason to pay more than what I should. I will say that the associate was excellent. He followed up, talked with me about my concerns, and offered me other options. At the end of the day, the mark up (most of it anyway) remained. 2.5 stars because I get it, but it's bad business and there's no excusing that. Thank you, Honda, for all of the years and memories. Sad to say pau already.

Whoever ( female ) answered thr phone yesterday at 10:30 am at the service center is very impatient, unprofessional & unfriendly. Please do not let her speak to intake customers or maybe even regular customers because I wanted to schedule a service at this location since it's closer to home instead of commuting to Pacific Honda. After my interaction over the phone with her & reading the multiple negative reviews, I decided to cancel my appointment & schedule it at Pacific Honda as usual, instead. It's so sad that I can't bring our truck to a closer location. It is such a turn off to speak to someone so uninterested in assisting loyal Honda customers. I must say that imho maybe 7 times out of 10, males, in customer service, sometimes seem so much easier to speak with.

We were very excited to purchase a Honda Odyssey, however we are left incredibly disappointed with the predatory sales tactics Honda Windward uses. We were asked to put $1000 down to hold the vehicle that we wanted since they were, as they claimed, flying off the lot and always out of stock. They said they would also give us an extra $1000 off for reserving a vehicle that same day as an added bonus. I asked multiple times for a full price break down, and didn't receive one for weeks. Once I finally was sent a price breakdown, I then saw that they added a $3,487 dealership mark up fee. This dealership mark up fee is simply for the dealership to make a higher profit on the car, outside of what they are already profiting from selling it at MSRP. There is no added value to the vehicle to be marking it up $3,487. It is incredibly predatory to fail to mention this dealership mark up fee upfront when pushing customers on the spot to put money down on a vehicle to reserve it. They said that they have had multiple customers angry lately after seeing the dealership mark up price- which leads me to believe that they were not showing us the full price break down on purpose to avoid us seeing the added $3487 dealership mark up fee.We aren't asking for any over the top special discounts, or even expecting anything under MSRP in today's car market. But paying $3,487 over the fair market value of the vehicle with no added value to the vehicle is not fair to push onto customers just because they can, and want to personally make more on the sale for themselves. They claimed all dealerships add mark up fees now, however this is false. We've called other Honda dealerships and they said straight forward that they do not add dealership mark up fees, nor do dealerships have to; and if they do add them, it's entirely up to them to add or remove them because it's only added as an extra profit for themselves. That said, they are refusing to work with us on the unjustifiable $3,487 dealership mark up fee that they added without disclosing to us at the time of reserving the vehicle, and we also will now be losing the $1000 they asked us to put down to reserve one of the Odysseys. At this point, we have reached out to the Los Angeles Honda dealership, who does not add dealership mark up fees to make a higher profit for themselves, and it's actually cheaper for us to buy from them and have it shipped to us versus buying it locally from Honda Windward with their $3487 dealership mark up fee that they add to personally profit more per sale, just because they can. It's unfortunate that Honda Windward takes advantage of the fact that many customers are military and not local to Hawaii, and have never even heard of these arbitrary dealership mark up fees that Honda Windward claims are standard here. After spending hours researching this issue now and calling over 15 local dealerships, I can say with absolute certainty now that these dealership mark up fees are not standard, and the first 5+ Honda dealerships that I called on the mainland stated that they do not add dealership mark up fees either. I wish Honda Windward would do the honorable thing and simply let us purchase the $50K+ vehicle that we planned to buy from them without adding the $3,487 dealership mark up fee that they failed to mention to us from the beginning, or at the very least return the $1,000 that they asked us to pay to hold a vehicle with them, considering it was paid based on misrepresented terms, and under false pretenses.

The dealership and workers INSIDE are very helpful, accommodating and so so friendly. It was a dream experience getting our car. BUT, the service center and whatever they wanna call the other center below the dealership because apparently it's not part of the service center, has HORRIBLE service. Absolute nightmare scheduling an appointment and asking questions. Rude and brief.

Kanoa is our service advisor and always provides excellent service every time our cars need to be fixed. We got our car from another dealership, but always service it at Honda Windward because working with Kanoa has always been pleasant . There have been a few times when we had parts that needed to be replaced and he was able to get it covered under warranty. Our old car needed a new alternator and he was able to give us a discount. He always calls with the estimate before the work is done and the car is ready before we know it.
