Do not order a cake from here if you actually want to receive it. Order a cake over 48 hours before I needed it for an event. Go to pick up the cake and I’m told “oops must’ve been filed under the wrong day or something because our baker didn’t make it” so now 1 hour before my event I am without a dessert. How hard is it to make a simple cake? All they would do is refund my money or give me a different cake that was tiny, not enough for 48 people like my original cake. I am livid and will never order a cake or even shop here again.

I've recently driven to kaneohe just so I don't have to shop at hamakua safeway. Customer service has really gone downhill. I no longer use their pharmacy either.

HORRIBLE PHARMACIST Do NOT use the pharmacy at this Safeway. The pharmacist is extremely rude and treats her customers/patients like garbage. The other day my husband and I came in to see about filling prescriptions. I was asking questions. The pharmacist would not even look away from her computer and was mumbling incoherently. I said that I couldn't hear her because of the store noise. She completely ignored me and kept mumbling. I kept telling her that I couldn't hear her. I'm glad I'm not kupuna and hard of hearing. Shame on her for treating patients/customers this way! She needs some serious training in customer service. Auwe!!!!

I have been a customer at the Safeways on the windward side of Oahu for 34 years mostly Hamakua Safeway . But in the last year or two service has gone so down . The managers don't even care . For some reason the last two or three months they have not been caring any Safeway Select diet drinks a lot of people depend on them that can't have sugar but they won't find out any reason why . I have gone to all four Safeways on the windward side and can't get any answers . The manager I last spoke to I don't know her name she was middle age and wore about 12 Hawaiian bracelets and she said just consider the Safeway Select diet drinks gone for good. After 34 years I guess I may have to switch to Foodland and take on their name brand stuff. Also there is a bagger at Safeway Hamakua a very large young gentleman about 20 years old he does not know how to pack a bag for nothing . He packed him so heavy me being 71 years old I couldn't even begin to lift one bag . I never offered to help me to my car . I have seen him in here for over a year and I have never seen a person as lazy as this young man is. Someone needs to talk to him.

Today, a Safeway supervisor named DEVON was terribly unreasonable and inconsiderate with respect to customer loyalty. Two days ago, I bought a $9.49 carton of eggs in my total purchase for $141.26. (I regularly spend about $500 monthly at that Kailua Safeway.) I drove miles home that night and discovered that four eggs were cracked on their bottom and a fifth was cracked with OLD AND DRIED residue GLUING ITS LOWER SHELL the carton. Eggs contaminate easily. Two days later, I was conveniently in the area and had the empty carton with the one glued shell in my car. At Safeway, DEVON was so anal as to question in detail what I did with the other eggs, which were cracked and where inside the carton. Despite that I told him the time and trouble of living miles away and later at home finding the Safeway produce cracked and spoiled, then taking the time to return miles back to Safeway, with a receipt showing my customer spending of over $hundred! Nevertheless, he said I would only be given credit or refund if I come back with the few other eggs. Safeway Director MERVYN LAM is responsible. Terrible inconsideration to a longtime loyal customer. My entire 59 household of LAM family members WILL NEVER GO BACK TO KAILUA-HAMAKUA DRIVE SAFEWAY AGAIN! DEVON and others there are sniveling, anal, inconsiderate jerks. Our LAM and Waimanalo Hawaiian clan's future business will go to FOODLAND KAILUA. Kailua Hamakua Safeway has gotten terrible over this past year.

I would like to thank the Bakery Department for giving me some doughnut boxes for a Halloween school project, for my classroom! The employee did not charge me for the boxes. I would also like to thank a clerk who helped me find a particular item for my classroom and then offered me a $5.00 card, to help offset the cost. It is so nice to go into a grocery store and be helped!!! Kailua Safeway/Hamakua ROCKS!!! MAHALO to you all!!!

Just a heads up the Hamakua Safeway Website says they are open until 2am however they locked the front doors already and it is 12:57am currently on Monday October 2. May want to update your website

***THIS IS FOR THE BAKERY (specifically the lady Karla, I think that's her name) WHO MADE MY DAD's BIRTHDAY CAKE*** I debated on what kind of cake to get my dad either Baskin n' Robbins or a cake from Safeway.....went to Safeway first and so glad I did. I originally wanted a cake w/ my dad's cats face on it but their machine is broken so I decided on the next best thing. A cake that looked like the front lawn. My dad LOVES TO MOW the lawn, so I told the lady who was helping me, Karla. She said she would do make it as real as possible w/ the grass...and she did! Unfortunately they didn't have the toys to put on the top of the cake, but it was ok. I landed up ordering them from Amazon and they go here in time! The cake was amazing...the decoration on the top was PERFECT! The cake itself was moist, the frosting (buttercream, Karla's recommendation) was sooo yummy and it was HUGE! Thank you Safeway Bakery for making my dad's birthday cake so special for such a reasonable price!!!

I enjoyed my shopping at Safeway.The butcher came out to recommend some good steaks for me to bring to a barbecue. They, also, were on the Safeway app, and I received a big discount.Also, being new to the Safeway app, I had some difficulty retrieving my coupons on my cell phone (because of my lack of experience) checking out, and the teller showed me how to find the coupons, and a simple way for me to use the app in the future.

We can’t always find what we need so we tried Foodland again today, as we had gone for years. Foodland had even less selection. Why is the world out of A&W Root Beer Zero Calories?! Anyway, back to Safeway we went and will continue to go primarily.
