One of the most breathtaking golf experiences of my life. The course is perfectly built into a lush, beautiful rainforest. Pete Dye’s world-renowned design philosophy is also on full display here: this course puts a premium on quality shotmaking. Make sure you bring plenty of balls! The course was in great shape, and the greens rolled much faster than I expected. Be prepared for potential cart path only due to the wet, wet jungle conditions. Staff was super friendly and helpful to us as first-timers.

When you think of Hawaii golf, it's usually on the ocean or in the jungle. This is the latter and boy does it not disappoint. Every hole looks like a post card. Not the longest course but it is tight, make sure to bring extra balls and swing easy.

To say this course is stunning is an understatement! It gorgeous, well kept, extremely challenging and staff were very friendly and polite. The video I posted is the drive from the pro shop to the first tee. Breathtaking views through the forest from hole to hole. It’s amazing how they carved a golf course through this land.

Don’t miss it. Gorgeous setting. Very unique. Some of the greens have bad spots and if you go off course you will lose balls but every hole is beautiful rain Forrest. I willCome back. Truly a rain Forrest experience With golf.

Nothing quite prepares you for the stunning views and wonder how anyone could carve a golf course out of this land. The staff are super friendly, plenty of instructions to get you going and while still daunting, a bit easier from the white tees.As reported by others the front nine is more a picturesque journey, trying to stay in play with 3 wood for safety off the tee and then the average greens, but overall a challenge like no other with the forest surrounding you.Back nine opens up to some fun holes where you can unleash your driver to a more traditional course layout.Uber cost was $40 there and $30 back to Waikiki, take plenty of balls and photos.

Absolutely breathtaking! I've captured countless photos, yet they don't do justice to the sheer beauty of this course. Despite the greens being a little rough, the overall experience was remarkably enjoyable and unquestionably worth every penny. For those aiming at scores between 95 and 105, I recommend teeing off from the whites. If you tend to shoot over 100, then opt for the yellow or red tees. Essentially, if your driving/long distance accuracy isn't consistent, avoid the frustration of lost balls and slowing play for everyone, as the tee shots demand precision. However, even as an amateur player, you can still enjoy the experience by selecting the right tees and ensuring a more enjoyable round.

Unbelievable location. The couple of staff members I spoke with were fantastic. The seclusion of this course is terrific really was a great getaway. The course itself wasn’t in the best shape. Front 9 greens were incredibly rough. But I really enjoyed the time spent out there. Also I used GolfNow hot deals to book a tee time. I think the price I paid was absolutely worth it but I would potentially take issue with a 200+ dollar green fee.

First off, this course is set in absolutely stunning landscape. If you're a casual golfer and want to have some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see on a golf course, play here. That being said; it's really a shame that a course this beautiful could be in such poor shape. The guy at the pro shop briefly mentioned the issue with the greens on the front nine. But they're really pretty terrible, I'm surprised they're letting people even walk on them. They'd be better off covering them in sand, at least they'd roll. I'd say the only greens that rolled anything resembling a decent green were 14-18. A par 3 is closed, they've let some of the bunkers go, the fairways are bare and muddy, the rough is basically crab grass. In some places, you hit a ball 2 feet off the fairway and you aren't finding it.The layout is pretty typical Pete Dye. Forced perspectives, uneven lies, and generally gimmicky with harsh punishments for decent shots. Bring a lot of balls and beer.

I try to play here once a year to just test myself (don't come out here expecting to not lose any golf balls) .... it is one of the most scenic courses on Oahu. Front nine is like you are in a rainforest, that the course is just carved out of. The back is a completely different feel. You have the koolau mountain range as the backdrop. A little disappointed that the greens on the front nine were in such bad shape (they were all diseases looking and yes they were working on them... sanding the greens and trying to save them but wow it was really bad). Back nine greens were great. Even with half the greens in horrible shape I would still recommend this course just for the scenic value. Oh yea and this is a tough pinpoint distance and location course....

Royal Hawaiian Golf Course used to be my favorite golf course in Oahu. Now it is awful. The greens are complete trash. They should be ashamed of themselves for letting such a beautiful course go to waste. The #7 hole has been closed for God knows how long. And the golf cart regularly dies throughout the round. Compared to the other great courses in Oahu, Royal Hawaiian should be embarrassed. I will never play there again.

We are so happy that we chose the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club to be our wedding venue. It was beautiful and elegant, which is exactly what we were looking for. Gorgeous views of the Ko'olau mountains, great service (we loved our bartender Berin...he had such great energy), and excellent food. We were impressed with everything they had to offer. Our guests were equally impressed and many commented that they didn't realize this place existed, as it's tucked away in beautiful Maunawili. Managers Llayne Kaui and Brianna Kaui were awesome...super friendly, accommodating, and responsive with communication. They also worked really well together with my wedding coordinator. Llayne was very attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the reception. We are so grateful that we chose to have our special day at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a beautiful place for your wedding. It's a hidden gem :)

6/2023Spent the day celebrating Father's Day with friends. Beautiful, lush, scenic course. Challenging for the average golfer but a course that offers a type of scenery you won't find on other islands. There are no water stations along the course, and you do take long adventures between holes in the lush forest, so take your time and be cautious. If you're a visitor, I'd give it a try.Price for entry: $75.00

A bit of a Royal ripoff. Priced way too high for condition of greens and fairways. Very easy to lose golf balls even just off the fairways as rough is beyond rough. That said, the setting is absolutely amazing. Right through the jungle. Beautiful trees, bird of paradise, ginger and so many other great flowers. The mountains surround the entire course. Glad to play once but won't play again.

Unfortunately the only thing making this review two stars is the landscape and stunning views. The front nine is probably the worst maintained 9 holes I’ve ever seen. Deep crab grass growing throughout the fairways, “greens” are unrecognizable - wouldn’t pass for fairways at a poor municipal golf course, and most things just seem generally overgrown. Cherry on top - the architectural layout of the course is awful. Target golf to the extreme - plop the ball here - plop it here - felt like every par 4 was a 360 yard par four that you had to lay up to the 150 in an extraordinarily tight fairway. The back nine is far more open and in substantially better condition at the moment. Also got around in about 3 and a half hours teeing off at 8 AM on a Monday and saw almost nobody else on the course.I thought going in it would be a play once and never again place, but I can’t recommend this course to anybody for $165 (plus rentals if needed).
