My favorite beach on Oahu, this park has it all! Clean turquoise blue waters, large white sand beach, breathtaking views, free parking, and even a convenient boat launch. There are a few picnic tables too. I could spend an entire week here and not be bored. I didn't use the restroom here but saw one onsite.

Stunning beach with emerald waters. White sandy beach and you have to walk through a park to get here. But definitely worth the drive and walk. No food or drinks for sale near by so make sure you bring your cooler full of water, drinks and snack. No life guards at all so swim at your own risk.

(Visited 05/19/23 FR @ 7:00pm): "One if by land, two if by sea"... I saw only one sea (or ocean to be exact) while I stood on the sands of Kailua Beach Park! After an exploratory relaxing day spent in the Kailua part of the island, a friend and I capped it as we viewed the sunset at Kailua Beach Park. Often ranked as one of the top beaches in the U.S., it just seemed appropriate to finish our day here. On a recent trip, I'd become charmed and familiar with this beach and its surroundings, so I thought it would be a treat for my friend's first visit. Did she take to this beach with its town's namesake!?EXPERIENCEThe word kailua in the Hawaiian language meant "two seas" or "two currents". It's so named because of the two former fishponds in the district (Kawainui and Kaʻelepulu) or the two currents that run through Kailua Bay. On a previous visit, I swam along the coastline in crystal blue turquoise water with barely a ripple of surf yelp.com/user_local_phot… and sunbathed on the white soft sand as I read a magazine. On this calming visit to watch the sunset, a handful of people sat on the shore as they gazed out towards the horizon, a gentleman was positioning a couple of outriggers yelp.com/user_local_phot… and we walked along the edge of the water as it peacefully lapped at our ankles while we watched the pastel-colored sky shift its palette until there barely was none at all.SERVICESpecifically on this section of the beach, there were bathrooms nearby and lifeguard towers further down the beach. Generally speaking, Kailua Beach Park included areas with picnic tables, volleyball courts, restrooms, and plenty of food stands up and down its length.PARKING (FREE)There were plenty of stalls on their private lot (where I parked), in addition to limited parking along the main drag of Kawailoa Rd. and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said.ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCEWe made a spot directly out front of the parking lot, the beach was clean, spacious, wide, and fairly empty with shady trees and foliage that edged the sand. yelp.com/user_local_phot… I haven't seen any waves of sizable significance, this beach was perfect for light water activity (no real surf breaks or much in the way of any views if you were to snorkel). No benches, chairs, or tables, so bring your own chairs or towels to lay or sit on. Obviously, there was plenty of natural lighting with only the glowing stars left to guide you when nighttime came. There were no TVs and music except for any electronic device you brought along with you such as your mobile phone. yelp.com/user_local_phot…ATTIRETotally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.OVERALLKailua Beach Park was another little piece of heaven (along with Waimanalo Beach) which I hoped would stay that way. Online research culled many articles and reviews of this beach that also alluded to what I experienced, so none of this was a secret. However, on this given weekday, I was thankful for the peacefulness and solitude. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $0.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, there was no need for funds of any kind which included my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Discover the allure of this beautiful beach where the scenic beauty combines with entertaining wind surfers, creating a captivating backdrop for a day by the shore. While the beach itself offers a pleasant retreat, the real spectacle lies in the entertaining display of wind surfers skillfully navigating the waves. Note that finding the parking lot entrance can be a bit confusing, but it's conveniently located next to a small market. Once you navigate the entrance, the beach unfolds as a delightful haven where you can relax, enjoy the view, and perhaps catch some impressive wind surfing action.

Gorgeous soft sand beach. Large parking lot but it fills up fast on good days.

Hands down the best beach on Oahu! I love coming here any time of day. Parking can be a challenge, but if you’re okay with walking a few blocks, no issues at all with finding your zen here. Friendly locals and tourists alike, as well as well-behaved dogs frequent Kaikua Beach park.

Absolutely gorgeous beach, incredible sand with no coral or rocks just baby soft crystal clear. Swim out until others feel unsafe with my distance and never once have I felt anything but amazing and one with the ocean and life. Truly the greatest place to visit or live. Hawaii is home, no other place can compare for me personally.

One of the nicest beaches I've been to. The sand is like powder. My wife went there 12 days in a row and loved it

This was a great quiet beach. Family friendly. Just walked there the first day with no stress to park. However on the day we decided to kayak from there the parking was difficult. Was definately worth the difficulty. Truly enjoyed this beach and the surrounding areas.Dog-friendliness: Enjoyed watching several people with their dogs while enjoying the beach. Made me very happy as my fur babies were not with us on our trip.Picnic area: Has picnic tables to eat. Along with plenty of shade.

Randomly came across a parking lot at Kailua Beach in August 2022 and ended up having an amazing spontaneous time with my wife. Was a beautiful day and not crowded at all. Amazing experience.

Kailua Beach Park is a slice of Hawaiian paradise. The golden sands stretch for miles, inviting you to relax or take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters. The gentle waves make it perfect for swimming and kayaking, while the backdrop of lush mountains adds to its beauty. There are ample facilities like showers and picnic areas, making it family-friendly. It can get busy, especially on weekends, but the stunning scenery and water activities make it a must-visit when in Oahu.

Kailua Beach Park was the second beach we visited on Oahu, and it offered a different beach experience compared to the North Shore. While the waves here are not as calm, they provide a unique and scenic backdrop for beachgoers. One thing I particularly liked about this beach was the presence of trees. These trees provided ample shade, so there’s no need to set up umbrellas if you can snag a spot under one of these natural sunshades. On the day we visited, there wasn’t a huge crowd, which was a pleasant surprise. It allowed me to fully relax by the sea with the wind in my face while enjoying the tranquility. The park has restrooms, which is convenient for changing or freshening up. However, it’s worth noting that the restrooms didn’t have soap during our visit, so bringing antibacterial soap/ hand sanitizer might be a good idea.Finding parking here can be a bit challenging, especially later in the day. I recommend arriving in the morning when your chances of securing a good parking spot in a quieter area are higher. Kailua Beach Park is quite spacious, offering plenty of room to run around, and it’s a popular spot for people to bring their dogs, so you’ll often see them enjoying the beach too.
