Our two emergency visits to Feather and Fur have been a wonderful experience. The staff is professional, compassionate, and "warm." Rosie is epileptic and now we know what to expect and do. We have total confidence in the entire team.

Feather & Fur will forever hold a special place in my heart. They took excellent care of all of my animals and always went above and beyond. When our dog was kept overnight after an emergency, I called every hour to check on her and they were always pleasant and never critical. Our dogs saw just about every vet on staff for one reason or another and each one was knowledgeable, honest, and kind. All of the support staff was top notch a well. If you have a pet and can make it to the Windward side, definitely consider Feather & Fur!

Dr. Walsh and the staff there are wonderful. They are personable, professional, communicative and treated my Bootz with expert care! The cost was less than expected for the deep teeth cleaning and thorough assessment. I will not take my Bootz anywhere else!

DONT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! I normally dont write any reviews even if a place is bad because I know every business has its lows and some days are better than other but this place seriously is somewhere I dont recommend to anyone who truly loves their pets! Im writing this post a little late because I didnt know any better. On January 11 I brought my bunny in for an emergency as she had GI stasis. I brought her in around 6pm and waited in the shopping center to hear back from the vet. As 10pm rolled around, no call. Around 11pm we decided to park our car in front of the vet and wait, still no call. So then we decided to give them a call to see if there are any updates and possible discharge time as we live in town near ala moana and feather and fur is in kailua. They answered but no doctor to talk to, just the front desk? Or nurse. Around midnight she got discharged and was told to syringe feed my bunny till she starts eating. Next morning still not eating so I give them a call to see what I should do. They recommend I bring her in, so we did. Dropped her off about 6:30am and because they said they were probably going to monitor her all day we left and went home. As 8am rolled around I was hoping to get an update. Nothing. 10am rolls around, still nothing. So as a worried bunny mom I call them and get an answer by the front desk/nurse and ask whats going on, is she eating, do we need to run tests, etc etc. they told me that they did take an xray and they didnt find anything so they're giving her iv to hydrate her. Then she tells me doctor should call me after hes done with his other patients that he was with so I wait. Noon comes around still no call. Around 1/2pm I give them another call to see if I can talk to the doctor and they give me the run around that hes not available but they can let him know to call me and I say ok of course because at this point I just want to comply so that they do call me. Another hour goes by and still no call so now im getting really frustrated as they have not initiated a call first AT ALL. I have been the one to call them every single time. So I call again and I end up talking to the doctor and he tells me shes doing better and at that point I feel some relief. About another hour goes by and I get my first call from the vet but only for them to tell me she had passed away. At that point im asking what happened and whatever he says i believe and I still would love to believe. After being told she passed they tell us we can come to say bye and move forward with cremation or if we want we can bring her home and so we go and as we pull up, they had a system where you call them to let them know you have arrived and we wait, not very long. Maybe 1-2 minutes before someone comes out to your car. As someone approached our car, she apologizes for our loss and hands us the card machine to let us know how much the vet visit costs. It was very expensive but we were expecting that. The fact that she brought out the card machine before bringing out my bunny was very insensitive. Of course at the time we just paid. We didnt think about it, we just took out our card and paid for it. Then we just asked if she could bring our baby out to us and she did. But throughout the whole process whether my bunny had a chance to get better or not, feather and fur DID NOT make any of it comforting at all! I thought maybe all vets were like this because they see it happen often and that they are busy and short staffed but no. I have a new vet for my bunnies and this doctor he is SO SO SO awesome. He calls so many times to let you know updates and whats going on and HE is the one talking. Not a nurse, not no front desk lady, the actual doctor! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO TO ANY OTHER VET THAN THIS PLACE! THIS PLACE HAD REALLY DONE US WRONG AND WE DIDNT EVEN REALIZE HOW BAD IT WAS TILL WE HAD BETTER TREATMENT ELSEWHERE.

It's been almost a year and I am finally gathering up my courage to write this review. If you own a small "exotic" pet such as a bird, do not take them here for urgent care. The staff here are unprofessional, unethical, and under-trained. I took my budgie in for urgent care as he started throwing up. I had a pleasant experience previously when the same symptoms occurred, so I had high expectations. However, we did not get the same doctor and long story short, my budgie did not make it. I waited at Whole Foods as I knew it'd be a waste of time and gasoline to drive back to town. After a few hours, I received a call from the vet whether I wanted them to carry out a gram stain, to which I opted-in. A few minutes later, I got a call back, in which I was told exactly "your bird's heartbeat has stopped and I don't know why he died." The doctor on the call showed no empathy and rushed us to report to the clinic. I asked why he passed or what exactly happened but the doctor refused to answer any questions. Once we arrived, the receptionist also showed no empathy and we still had to pay a whopping $150 for urgent care my budgie probably did not receive. The doctor did not show up to come talk to us whatsoever-- we went in, paid, and brought our budgie back home. After this incident, I became depressed and developed an eating disorder. I grieved for months and I still struggle with anxiety and ED. There are countless of sleepless nights where I regret taking him to the vet. Even if he was destined to pass away, I wish I could be there for him. Long story short, this place is not a place to take your exotic pets for urgent care. They do not have specialists and you most likely won't be receiving quality care. You can't be with your pet when they're being examined, so you wouldn't know how your pet is doing or anything like that. We will never be returning.

my 11 yo golden retriever has a torn Acl. When i called to purchase a leg splint, they refused to sell me a splint. Instead offering relief they would rather have my dog suffer than sell me a splint. unfricken believable!

I've been here many times, and I must say, majority of the visits have not been great. I live in Hawaii Kai, so it is already a nuisance, but my first interaction was with Dr. Wyckoff, and he was an absolute pleasure. Very knowledgeable of exotic animals, my bunnies to be exact. I have nothing negative to say about him. He is amazing! Dr. Hancock was great too, as far as I'm concerned. One of my bunnies was seen by her for an urgent care matter, so I was not allowed in the room, but she stapled my bunny up pretty good and was able to answer all questions I had via her vet tech. The main receptionist is really great too. Sweet aunty, fast-talking, and funny...such a pleasure. NEGATIVES: Prices are on the high end and they also tend to run test/do procedures w/o quoting you first...then you're surprised with the bill. I've called in advance to notify that I would like to bring in my bunny, and I cannot make an appointment because it is too far out for any availability, and I really need them seen that same day. With that being said, they have scheduled me with vets that do NOT have proper knowledge of exotics. I wish they would tell you that ahead of time so that I may take them to someone who can help my babies. As a result of those actions, my bunny DIED within a week after taking him in to see Dr. Black. After 3 hours of waiting for him at F&F, they could not diagnose him, and wanted to keep him overnight for observation, quoting me nearly $1,000. That was a Monday. Come Friday morning, I had to rush him to my nearby vet and beg them to see him. They were able to diagnose him within 10 minutes. At that point, it was already too late for him, and he passed in my arms. They had Dr. Nakashima see another one of my bunnies, as a scheduled appointment. She couldn't figure out the gender of my bunny, nor diagnose her. Both her and her vet tech "guessed" as to what her issue could be. They were wrong. She ran tests, and found an issue. Recommended their flea meds and a couple other things. I just wanted to know one thing, and my bill came out to over $300. My bunny wasn't even sick. She didn't quote me on the prices either. I was livid. Not to mention, her vet tech was condescending rude, as I was present for this visit. It seems as though they mainly care about charging as much as they can, and not really caring too much about the patient. These are not just our pets, but they are our BABIES. It's so disheartening and appalling. I will NOT be returning. I've had all my babies records released to my nearby vet that actually seemed to care about my little loves. I am so heartbroken because I could've saved him had they been honest about their lack of experience with exotics. Never again.

I don't enjoy giving negative reviews, but after thinking about it for some time and having several not so pleasant experiences bringing my rats here, I think it's time I update my review. For one thing, this clinic claims to specialize in exotics care, even specifically listing rats as one of the animals they treat. However, there have been multiple occasions in which the doctor treating my rats had limited to no knowledge of rats, and their vet techs are often very vocally squeamish. I find this to be highly unprofessional. Especially considering the premium prices they charge for an animal they should be used to seeing. With rats, very often issues pop up suddenly and cannot wait 2+ weeks for an actual appointment. I am grateful that this clinic does allow work in urgent care visits. These can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over 8 hours depending on how busy they are and how long it takes a vet to take a look at them. That's totally fine with me, I appreciate that they can be seen. However I have found the pricing to be a bit inconsistent. Sometimes I'm charged the regular exotics fee, and sometimes I'm charged an additional fee for urgent care. I've never brought them in on holidays or during emergency hours, and they always end up being a work in besides for 1 time when there was an actual appointment slot that had opened up. I have often chosen to have my rats euthanized at this clinic when their time is up because they usually give the option for me to be present for the euthanasia. This year has been especially hard with more than half of my mischief being elderly and passing away. On 6/27/23 I brought my sweet girl Pepper in to be put to sleep. Thankfully the staff on hand that day was very kind. Though I was a bit put off by how overly cheerful the vet was and how frequently she kept entering the room to check for a heartbeat. It felt like we were being rushed to say our goodbyes. But all that mattered to me is that Pepper passed peacefully, which she did, and that I could be with her, which I was. 6 days later, on 7/3/23 I decided to put down Remi as she was no longer responding to treatment and had a very low quality of life. The vet tech who checked us in and took payment was very unprofessional. She knew we were there to put Remi to sleep, and yet, she chose to tell us horrific stories of why she doesn't like rats because of an infestation at her grandma's house, kept being jumpy at seeing our pet rat, kept commenting on how the tail creeps her out, and being overall squeamish. If that wasn't enough, the vet tech that was supposed to take us to the room then asked if we were sure we wanted to go through with euthanasia today and that we would be saying our goodbyes in the hallway because supposedly this clinic "doesn't allow owners to be present when small animals are euthanized." Excuse me? This was my 5th rat that I've brought to this clinic to be euthanized, all of which I was allowed to be present, the last one being just 6 days before. I don't usually cry in front of other people, but I was so frustrated and heartbroken and trying to hold it together, that I couldn't hold it together anymore and I cried while explaining that I was just here 6 DAYS ago and was allowed to be present, as well as for all my previous rats. She did not want to listen. Finally, the receptionist over by the lobby took note of my ordeal, looked up my records, and could confirm that I was being truthful and for that vet tech to go talk to the vets. I wish I had gotten the receptionist's name because she was very helpful and kind. She was professional. The tech that insisted I couldn't be present finally agreed to ask the vets, and then came back and told us that one of their vets agreed to let us be present. Thankfully the vet was very kind and compassionate. Please train your staff to treat all of your clients with respect. Especially since you specialize in caring for exotics, including rats, your staff should not be phased by their presence

I don't have too much to say, but I will share my experience. We were pet sitting for a friend and his bunny was not acting like he felt well. After talking to the owner and someone from Feather and Fur, my mom and I headed down. The staff was nice and di their best to communicate with us. This is a very busy place, but you can tell that they care about the animals and their owners. I recommend this place if you ever have an emergency for your pet.

If I could select less than one star I would. In one night they almost killed my pit. I have pictures of the towel I used to clean her up after getting her outside. Waited 25 minutes to get answers and the tech just forgot us. We walked out without anyone noticing. Let that sink in if you think your pet is safe. They put her in a small space and left her sitting in her own poo and pee until I showed up to check on her. Backside was raw and matted. She didn't "just make a mess" she was left to sit in it. She was shaking and traumatized. I'll never go back. Oh and price?.... That one night cost as much as a week elsewhere - with the same tests being run. Honolulu Pet Clinic has techs that specialize with big dogs. I don't know if she will make it, but she is happy and loves the techs who work with her. She has quality of life and if she spent another day at F&F she'd be dead. Pic is a full size towel I used to clean her raw rear end after the tech said she "cleaned her up".

Daisy Wong is our family pet. She was my daughter's puppy who will soon be 14 years of age. My wife and I inherited Daisy when my daughter left for work away from the islands 6 years ago Daisy has issues with mass cell tumors, which explains her missing back leg and two toes missing from her front right paw. My daughter had tumors in those locations removed from Daisy in 2017. Daisy lives with us now here on the windward side of O'ahu. Our good luck found us Dr. Brian Walsh of Feather and Fur, who has been Daisy's savior for the past 6 years. He has performed at least 4 procedures to remove tumors on Daisy. She is healthy and living a good life thanks to him. You can tell that the company culture at Feather and Fur exceeds what most would expect. Everyone is friendly, courteous and considerate. The atmosphere there is far from "clinical" or impersonal. We appreciate all that they continue to provide for Daisy!

I got blocked in my driveway due to construction at a neighbors home. I called and told them I'd be a little late; like 5-10 MINUTES and they want to charge me an extra $25??? WTF? forget this place. WHY are so many vets so $$$? Don't they know we are all trying to make ends meet, love our fur friends and are trying to get them help without breaking the bank? An MD's office will simply reschedule if you are 30 or more minutes late. Maybe charge you if you are a no-show, but that is only a few. $25 for 5-10 minutes late? Come ON! They lost a customer. MONEY over care! Good reviews made me make an appointment here but WOW am I DISappointed!
