We arrived on the island at around 8pm. By the time our luggage came in, it was almost 8:30pm. Most of the restaurants close at 9 or 10pm. We didn't want to rush while we eat since we had a long flight & really wanted to unwind. We headed to Safeway to see what they had to offer. We initially came in planning to buy stuff to make sandwiches. They have so many options for hot items & to go items. Unfortunately, the deli was closed. They had tamales, chicken, salad. Lots of options. We ended up with a roll of California sushi, a packet of raviolis, a bag of Cesar salad, macadamia cookies, and Hawaiian tea and called it a night. I ended up going back for macadamia white chocolate cookies and even brought some back to the main land. They were honestly really good! They are fully stocked with everything you can think of. It's funny to see tourists scrambling for food options included us late at night. Keep safe land in mind just in case it gets too late!

Well laid out store with a wonderful deli and meat selection. Make sure you have their shoppers card as this saved us over $50 on a $180 shop. As with everything on the Island, it's more expensive than the mainland and they do run out of things, especially items on special. We usually divide our big shop between the Walmart superstore and here. The veg selection is vast and of great quality here.

If you have to use the bathroom while u shop, this is not the place. They have 8 bathrooms in the front of the store locked with combination locks. Out of the 10 employees asked apparently they don't know the code. For the guys there is a nice little side spot on the side of the building.

Do not order groceries to be picked up from this Safeway, my experience was a complete disaster. I went to the store to shop for some items that I needed but I had placed an order ahead of time that I just wanted to pick up and go. The woman who brought out the order did not have a print out of our receipt which led to a lot of confusion since we were missing several items from our order. When I pointed this out she said oh yes I forgot your fried chicken. So she went back into the store and instead of getting fried chicken and she grabbed a whole roasted chicken. Upon further investigation I noticed that we were missing our butter yogurt eggs and lettuce. She said that since it was Monday after Thanksgiving they didn't have these items in stock and that's why they didn't make it into the order. So she and I went back into the store only to discover they did have everything that I ordered whoever picked the order order Just didn't bother to fulfill these items. Needless to say it was a complete waste of time and my other groceries just sat in the car getting warmer and warmer as I located the items that were left off of the order. Not a great experience definitely avoid this Safeway

The market is very close to our Airbnb, so we came here twice to get stuff for breakfast. It's easy to find stuff, but I'm also astonished to see how expensive grocery is in Hawaii. The store itself is clean, and bright. Self check out works fine.

After a long day of traveling & a delayed flight, I took too long of a nap and woke up at midnight without any supplies. I started to panic a little when I was having trouble locating much of anything still open. I saw this Safeway was 24hrs, crossed my fingers & headed out. She's a big, clean beautiful store that's perched upon a gentle hill north east of Ali'i drive and below the Hawaii belt. The employees were all very courteous & welcoming. Some of the shelves had empty spots but we were able to locate everything we needed. There is also a pharmacy attached. I grabbed a sandwich from the deli and it was well made & fresh. I was also able to donate to the Lahaina fire efforts at the register. Mahalo for saving my evening, Safeway. Now I can wake up not starving and with coffee & juice tomorrow morning, without having to run out somewhere else to get it.

Be carefull shopping here they repeadely charge more at the register then posted on the shelves and when pointed out to employees they won't honor prices posted on the store shelves this is fraud and will be reported to the DCCA. This store is stealing from their customers

If I could give 0 stars, I would. No stock on shelves in bakery department, checkout was a complete nightmare of inefficiency...I will do my level best to never shop here again.

I am a new Kona resident and this is probably one of the worst Safeway stores in the Hawaiian islands compared to Honolulu, Kihei, Lahaina, Kahului, Wailuku and other towns. The shelves are constantly deleted of inventory and the deli service is sow and absolutely disappointing. The meat and seafood counter has very little variety. I will be going to KTA and Sack N Save instead from now on.

Good fresh poke! Go early and only order the fresh stuff. They do a good job, pack a cooler and head to the beach. Best poke for the price.

This "lady" was so rude. 09/02/22,0715am. "Excuse me...may I order a sandwich?" She actually threw the lettuce onto the table she was working at gave me a pissed off stare. It's not as if I was rude. And she was the only one at the deli. And she WAS already making sandwiches so... I was like, "...that's ok. I get something else" Instead i bought some crackers and salami for my flight back to San Francisco. I was really looking forward to a good deli sandwich for the 5hr flight. Oh well....
