This is my favorite book store here in Kona. They moved from behind the Natural Food store to Kopiko Plaza near UPS. So, Kona Bay Books is located just below longs in Kopiko plaza. It's been a while since I've been because I wasn't sure where their new location was.
They have an excellent selection of books about Hawaii and cookbooks.
I found great book. "The Kona Coffee Story Along the Hawaii Belt Road". It's a first edition copy. And, I think my bf's family is in it. I love genealogy and photographic history of my home town! My family on both sides had coffee farms.
I also found a great local cookbook. I don't know how to cook all local cuisine. So, I think it's cool to have a cookbook from the area.
Free shared parking lot.

Great place!!! Friendly, great prices, informative. Love the cat. Got a 1st edition Moloka'i and a book of fishing tales. Center of town. Easy parking.

Highly recommended stop on the Big Island! Great selection of new and used, and an excellent selection of local history. Everyone there is always helpful and friendly, and can help you find whatever type of book you are looking for to make your stay perfect. You want to read a book on the beach, right? They also are great about on line orders, so I try to go to them first when I am looking to order a book from a small bookstore. Location is super convenient, and say hi to the resident cat(s?) while you're there!
