I made reservations for two pedicures. The gal on the phone said it would be $60.00. each. I have always wanted to go to Kalona as I have had several friends recommend them. I have lived in Kona 30 years. Sue (80) hasn't had a pedicure is some time and her toe nails were long. I reminded the gal helping Sue that she needed to trim the big toe nail shorter as I did not want the nail rubbing on her shoe. She said she did not want to make her bleed. Right! I said, No blood. I really havent looked at Sue's pedicure. My pedicure with another gal was disappointing. I know my feet are a mess, hammer toes and all. I brought my own polish and when I got home and looked at the polish I was so disappointed and will have to touch up the polish. She did not paint the end of the nail and did not cut my toenails straight across leaving ends digging into the skin. I will do it. Both Sue and I wore pants calf high thinking we would get a foot massage, a calf massage and I love to have my toes pulled. Neither of us got a massage. We were so disappointed. When I went to pay, they quoted $50.00 a pedicure. I gave both gals a very good tip, but after looking at my pedicare I will not be coming back or recommend Kalona Spa.

Highly recommend! I had a great experience. For the past twelve years we spend a couple of months in Kona and this is the first time I've found myself in need of a haircut while visiting. This wonderful salon caught my eye and I called to make an appointment. I called on a Saturday and they had an appointment the following Tuesday, which was very convenient. Clean, warm and friendly atmosphere with a variety of services.
My hair is course and has a mixture of waves/curls with a few straight strands. It gets especially frizzy in humid conditions and is not easy to cut, so I was nervous. My stylist, Kendall, and the owner, Pam, went above and beyond to make sure I received exactly what I wanted! Excellent work! I will definitely be back! Mahalo!

I was told on the phone that they were fully booked and only had one opening the rest of the month. Ended up being the only one in the salon most of my appointment. The environment was nice and clean which I enjoyed.
The only complaint I have is that my manicure did not last as long as I was expecting. I did a normal pedicure and the polish is staying on fine, but my gel manicure started to chip on the second day. First just one nail and then two more the following day. I imagined gel would last a lot longer before chipping.

I booked an appointment to get my hair styled and makeup done before my wedding here on the Big Island. After realizing I probably needed more time than I had planned for, I checked to see if they had any other earlier appointments that day. At the time, they were fully booked but the owner, Pam, went out of her way to work her magic and was able to get me an earlier appointment. She saved the day! Not only that, but she is extremely talented when it comes to hair and makeup, I absolutely love the look she gave me! She was even able to get me a quick gel nail polish color change!! I left the salon feeling beautiful and ready for my wedding. She was so sweet and great to talk to as well. I 100% recommend Kalona Salon & Spa for any of your beauty needs :)Services: Braids

Cassie is the absolute best stylist ever!! Especially if you have curly hair, look no further! I went to Cassie before moving to the mainland seven years ago, and have not been able to find a better or even comparable stylist. Just got my hair cut and colored on my trip there last month and love it!! Most stylist cut way too much, not Cassie. She truly listens to what you want, and only cuts what need or want to be cut. Now I just need need to make sure that I go back to Kona more often. It may take a couple of months to get into see her, but it is well worth the wait!Services: Hairstyling
