“We had an amazing two week stay at the Kona Tiki Hotel. Everything was exceptional from the cleanliness of our room, to the sound of the waves at night, to the wonderful team ( managers Ed and Karen and Clarkia). We have stayed at the Kona Tiki many times over the years and as soon as we leave we seem to be planning our next trip back to this amazing hotel. Mahalo!”

“Beautiful property with nice restaurants and resort facilities. However, if you stay in the resort adjacent villas (on property but privately owned) and not at the hotel itself, you will be subject to exorbitant resort access fees that can be as much as $200 per person per day. You can use any resort facilities unless you agree to pay these daily fees plus additional per use charges as well for each facility type.”

“We spent two nights at the resort (3 people). We liked the spacious, well-equipped apartment, the large terrace and the view. The apartment was clean. Even though the mattress on the sofa bed in the living room has already seen some use. A small pool was available at the resort. There is a very nice view of the sunset from there. So at sunset, the terrace and the pool are full of people. Various trips can be ordered at the reception. Two cockroaches crawled onto our terrace in the evening, but that's probably a common thing on the islands.? The resort does not have access to the sea (it didn't bother us). The coast in this part is rather rocky and the sea was rough.

Noteworthy details: Very close to the resort, a shopping center and a supermarket, as well as restaurants, can be found within a 7-minute walk.”

“Staying at this lovely inn was one of the highlights of our time on the Big Island. You couldn't find a more enchanting setting--a traditional Hawaiian inn in the middle of a tropical forest! You're surrounded by lush greenery, fruit, and all kinds of forest creatures. As the innkeepers have clearly described on their website, the forest is teeming with activity. So, you'll hear animals at all hours of the day; you'll fall asleep to the sounds of cocqui frogs and wild chickens. Geckos and related might creep into your room. For us, all this added to the magic. If you want a more typical hotel experience, then this isn't the best fit for you. If you want to be in nature, do some forest bathing, then Hale Maluhia is a dream come true. Our room, the Pikaki Room, was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including a kitchenette and towels for the beach. We also had our own lanai or porch, which was an excellent spot for bird watching and relaxing between activities. This sweet inn provided a much-needed escape from our busy everyday lives. It allowed us to slow down and observe the world around us. It also was just 10 minutes away from the beach, shopping, and restaurants. Hale Maluhia provides the best value for location and comfort. It also gives a much more authentic vibe than your average hotel chain. We also enjoyed getting to know the sweet innkeepers, Dave and Miriam. They were so warm and welcoming. And they had great tips on where to go, where to eat, etc. They also offer fresh fruit from their property, home-baked goods, and Kona coffee for guests every morning! Truly a memorable and enjoyable experience that went above and beyond expectations. Mahalo, Dave and Miriam!”

“Highly recommend! They must treat their employees well because everyone is so friendly and helpful which makes for a great guest experience. Had the privilege of staying here for a few weeks recently in both basic & oceanfront rooms. Both are wonderful. You can't go wrong with any of their rooms here. Shout-out to Michael at the front desk, Conrad at the restaurant, and all housekeeping for excellent service.

Also, the band at the pool on Halloween was PHENOMENAL. It was fun listening to live music from the pool instead of just the restaurant. If those guys performed here every weekend by the pool, I'd come book just to see them and hear them play. They had people dancing and cheering. Awesome time.”

“The hotel is great but some of the employees ruined our experience. Either they don't understand English (!?) or they just work in a very unfriendly manner. There is a need for action here! We sometimes felt like we were more of a nuisance (waiters).”

“Great location. Suite was great for family of 5. Was able to check in early and check out late. Staff let us use the pool and shower as well as store luggage the day we departed, which was not until 11pm. Was a nice way to refresh before the long flight home.”

“Great place to stay, the room itself was awful, but the guy across the parking lot sold me some really good meth and the wife and I enjoyed another couple down the hall pretty much all night and into the next day”

“My recent stay at the Kona Islander Inn was nothing short of delightful. Nestled in the heart of Kailua-Kona, this quaint inn offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and Hawaiian charm. The location couldn’t be beat. Located in the middle of downtown Kona you are a short walk to all the shops, restaurants and night life.

We stayed in unit 120 which was a cozy Hawaiian themed studio unit that was well-appointed and impeccably clean. The room had all the essentials for a comfortable stay, including a kitchenette, which was handy for preparing light meals and snacks. They also have a pair of wonderful gas grills for BBQ'ing by the pool.

The pool area and hot tub were lovely spots to relax at after a day of sightseeing, and the on-site laundry facilities were a convenient addition.

The staff members were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The host sent us some excellent recommendations for local activities and dining option prior to our visit so we were well versed on where to go and things to do before we got there.

Whether you’re traveling solo or as a couple, this inn offers comfort, convenience, and genuine Hawaiian hospitality.”

“It's a comfortable and clean house in a beautiful neighbourhood. I greatly enjoyed using the grill in the evening, met other awesome and respectful tenants, and the host was easy to communicate with and was very nice.”

“The room was very good. Spacious, with bathroom, refrigerator, a small kitchen with microwave, many towels. The location of the apartment is great because it is in all the best.
There is parking if you are from the hotel and it is free”
