If you arrive on a later evening flight, be advised Hertz KOA does not wait for their customers for any delays. They stranded quite a few Alaska Airlines passengers the other evening, thankfully Budget remained open with excellent customer service and offered a great rate to all of those affected. I work for an airline and regularly operate into KOA, and I in good faith cannot recommend Hertz. I will be writing Hertz corporate and in addition the Kona Airport Authority.

Rented a vehicle for 2.75 hours not days! . Put 21 miles on it and filled up immediately before dropping it back off. They sent email receipt saying we used 8 gallons and brought it back at 70% even though it was full..So supposedly their cars get less than 3 miles per gallon even if it were true?? oh… nobody will ever answer the phone there and VM is always full.Wonder why..

Getting talked down to by patty was a terrible way to start a vacation. She was very upset that I only had a debit card, and demanded that I show her a credit report, which I didn't have. I thought they weren't going to give me a car. If you use a debit card they will put a $500 hold on your account when you arrive, even though I paid in full in advance online. The car was dirty and damaged, with a bunch of handprints of a white substance inside. I will use another rental service like Turo in the future.

my experience was like Seinfeld season 3 episode 11. Made reservations months in advance. Only to arrive and have them say they ran out of cars. I don't think they know how reservations work.

I rent here all of the time because I have a work account. The service is not good. It takes forever to get a bus from the terminal to the rental location. Plan on waiting for 30 minutes and seeing multiple buses pass you by.

This place was terrible. Customer service was low and did not help to address our concerns over the rental we requested for our reservation. Stating mainlanders don't know our island so they always book the wrong car for people ...are you not one company though?! We had to return our car because of maintenance issues. They are not clean and soaked in sunscreen marks. One vehicle also had a missing wiper. Terrible place to rent from

Didn't open on time and less than 1 hour to make my flight, which I didn't. Also the employees were very rude and didn't seem to care about helping me and the other customers out. This place is terrible

They charged us twice. We had two vehicles and it cost us an extra $500 per vehicle for insurance we didn’t ask for, and they didn’t mention it would be additional.

We rented from Dollar and were treated horribly and didn't receive the car we reserved and were not offered a free upgrade as with other companies. We will NEVER rent from them again and will tell everyone we know that they are TERRIBLE!!

I highly recommend you sign up for Hertz rewards. They have a separate line for members which meant I was able to bypass the line of ten other visitors waiting for their cars. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The shuttle drivers were all really funny and full of life

I returned my car to the Kona International Airport branch this morning, but I left my luggage. It's a bag that contains 3 outerwear. It's all Patagonia logos. I'd really appreciate it if you could find it. I got on a gmc Arcadia car, and my agreement number is 981061233. The staff were really nice.

Not great. Prepaid for a rental and declined coverage. Got to the counter and again declined coverage when it was offered. I then had to extend one day and paid the extra days worth online. Everything seemed fine until a week later I got another charge for over $600. I called them and they said I had been provided the coverage. Have no idea how or why it was added, but said there was nothing they could do to reverse the charge. Won’t be using hertz again.
