Their service on appliances is unbeatable, and they have excellent customer support for their appliances, at least in my experience with Hamai. The sales side is trickier They say they don't carry manufacturers like LG because no one on the island services them, and if you do find someone to repair them, the parts are generally unavailable on the island This is interesting since LG is branded as the best refrigerator in the market There are LG service people on the island They may not be as excellent in their service calls as Hamai, but they are friendly and informative about their service calls and parts We won't know what the truth is until service is needed. I am willing to take a chance. Hamai's "contractor pricing" for a product was quoted almost 50% more than Lowe's or Kitchenaid website. More importantly, Hamai gave me their "contractor price" which is $100 more than the retail price listed on Lowe's website. The salesperson at Hamai said, "The product is so new, it won't be available for months," which I interpreted to mean if you don't order now, it won't be available when you need it. This sales tactic is frequently used and very effective Last year, the same salesperson said almost the same about other Kitchenaid products not being available later, effectively psyching meout to purchase. And yes we bought the two appliances from Hamai. I have to say within 60 days I had issues with the product and Hamai quickly fixed the problem. This time, we went to Lowe's, and the product is set for delivery next month at 48.5% less than Hamai's. The question for consumers, do you want Hamai's excellent customer service for almost 50% more than Lowe's and more than retail at "contractor pricing." Do your homework and look at your budget.

There prices were reasonable and there were no fuss of hunting for customers services like other major companies. The cost on delivery were not that costly as well and there were very efficient of customers availability time scheduling,too.

Mike had repaired my subzero fridge a few months back, so I called him up when my Fisher Paykel dishwasher wasn’t working.He had it repaired in no time and at a fair price.A nice guy.Thanks Mike.

Two years ago we bought a refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, dishwasher and King sized mattress from Hamai Appliance. The refrigerator door hinge failed after a year (even though it had little use during Covid, when our condo owners could not come to Maui). The compressor failed yesterday. Hamai told us that we had to order a whole new door (it was one month after the one year warranty had expired). They could not replace the hinge. They told us the compressor was under warranty but that was only for the part. The minimum labor charge was $1000 to replace it. We said we would buy a new refrigerator from them but they would not even give us any consideration or discount even after all the business we sent their way. PS - One of our Condo owners sits on the Board of Directors of a condominium complex near Wailea and has sent many owners to Hamai for their appliance needs. And he is the one that convinced us to go to Hamai for appliances. He now regrets that recommendation and has stated he will not be going to them for HIS future purchases. You cannot treat customers that way and expect to stay in business.

I would like to say that everything here was great, but we purchased a whole kitchen full of GE Cafe’ Series appliances and the dishwasher has never worked properly.I bought the extended warranty so Hamai has been good to continue to replace part after part but nothing has fixed it.It has been 3+ years, so I tried to call the owner, but he hasn’t returned my call in the 2 weeks since I called him.I have suggested to the service coordinator that perhaps it is time for them to talk to GE about a replacement since it has NEVER WORKED.She was nice but believed the extended warranty would keep covering part replacement only.I am a pediatric dentist (retired). I ran my own business/practice and ignoring someone with a problem is not a good solution. However, the owner has decided not to help me get in touch with GE. Not sure why bc HE WON’T RETURN MY CALL!The dishwasher is a lemon. I bought from Hamai because of their reputation for good service. Their service department keeps diligently coming out and replacing parts which is great, but for over 3 years has not solved my problem with this dishwasher.Apparently the Owner’s name is Bryant.In fairness, except for this glaring problem that is really on GE, Hamai has been pretty attentive. I wish I could give 5 stars but at this point and after 3+ years I can’t.If they contact me and help resolve this with GE I will amend this review.I am hoping that the owner, Bryant, has been on vacation and will call me this week!(This is the dishwasher. It is nice but doesn’t work, so the condo owners association has given me a “loaner” the doesn’t stop working in the middle.Sadly, the loaner is WHITE and doesn’t match.Guests have complained.)

I needed a repair and the repair man had to reschedule. I called Hamai to make an appointment or verify a new date and the female who responded was rude and not helpful. With so much competition Hamai cannot afford to loose long time customers. Shame on you guys!

Really disappointing service. Extended warranty service means waiting two weeks out for a technician, a joke when you're talking about household appliances that are used daily. And that's just for a diagnosis! Also dealt with extremely condescending woman who tried to lecture me on being available when they call or not to receive their service. Another joke considering a representative will answer their own phone lines, maybe one out of ten times. AND, like most businesses around here expect you to be available to them the moment they call but can not give you a clear ETA. Shopping for appliances on Maui is difficult to say the least, and despite our efforts to support local shops, I will no longer support this car-dealership-vibe operation. Get some new technicians and learn some manners. Most of us work and don't have time to deal with their ambiguous dealings.

I'm looking for appliances for my parents who live on island. I am looking at the Hamai website and all I get is "Call for Best Price." They don't make it easy to buy from them. I'd prefer to shop local, but this is not customer friendly.

A+ WORTH IT! I made the wrong call by thinking I was saving money waiting around for hours and weeks at Home Depot and Lowe's. If you live on Maui, call/go here first, you won't be disappointed.The island is sold out of gas dryers--so we thought. Asked a friend what to do and he recommended this place. With a smile they had one weeks ahead of the other places. They also went and fetched me the part I left on my old dryer--after they delivered the new (converted) dryer and hauled the old one away for a reasonable price--with a smile.Not a cheesy place trying to get commissions and wasting your time, this place gets it done with aloha!

We had placed an order for a new gas stove at Lowes because it was around $300 less but after waiting a month for it to arrive we were notified that it would be another 30 days! So we went back to Hamai Appliance and luckily they had one available in the back and it was delivered the next day!

Went in looking for a basic white electric stove and microwave; Home Depot was an 8-12 week wait, Lowes said up to 6 months due to the appliance shortage. Lowes did have a couple in route but they don’t let you buy one until they are physically in the store. I went in to Hamai and worked with Katie, she was great. She told me they had what I wanted on the next barge in, and I was able to pay and schedule delivery for both the stove and microwave. Delivery was yesterday, and the delivery crew was great as well. They called 10-15 minutes out and were very careful with removing the old stove and putting in the new one. Stove and microwave work great so far, I am very pleased with the service I received.

Update on my previous reviews which covers the install of 2 dishwashers purchased from Hamai. Here it is in a nutshell then the longer version. Easy to purchase and pay (4*) No communication for weeks even though product on island and ready (1*) Install eventually...in their own time....which is done well (3*) My previous reviews detail my frustration with trying to get Hamai to return my calls or texts regarding install. After 3 long weeks waiting for someone, anyone to communicate with me I eventually got a call from Rocky that the install would be going ahead. Finally! Rocky and his son Chase turned up on time, and installed both dishwashers and hauled away the old ones. One dishwasher was straightforward to install, but the second was an absolute pain. At one point I thought Rocky was going to give up and refuse to install, but he kept going and finished the tricky job which included removing screw heads from inside the cabinetry once he had waltzed and squeezed the old dishwasher out so he could get the new one in. Chase set both dishwashers off to check for leaks once they were plumbed in and I double checked further by putting kitchen towel under the piping for the next week to make sure they weren't leaking. So far so good. If anything happens in the next few months I will update. I've noticed quite a few of the previous reviews involve a lack of customer service further down the line. Would I use Hamai again. No. I have bought 8 appliances through Lowes over the past few years (I am a property manager and also upgraded my kitchen) and have experienced better customer service and communication so I will continue using Lowes, especially as I get a 5% deduction using my Lowes card. The tip is to get the email address of the appliance specialist you deal with for communicating.

Wanted to buy a trash compactor. Initial response from the salespeople was mostly indifference. Finally one took our order. We waited several months with no one contacting us about delivery. We called. Young lady said it had been in quite a while. I asked for our sales rep. He was busy but she would have him call us back. He didn't. We called again and was transferred to someone who handles delivery. He needed to check scheduling. Two days later he called back and set things up. Just overall really crappy customer service.
