Review is regarding their Plate Lunch specifically the 'Hawaiian plate' slop that was served on 01/19/24. I ordered the laulau-kalua pig combo about 10:40 am. The haupia and sweet potato sides was not available so I chose 2 scoops extra rice as substitutes. The laulau was cold and greasy and apparently wasn't steamed at all. The long rice was also cold and tasteless with only one 1/2" square of rubbery 'chicken' in the water and nothing else - it was inedible. The lomi salmon was passable. The only thing they got right was the rice because how can you not screw that up? Were paying $15.00 for this cr**! I won't be returning ever again. Hey guys do yourself a favor and avoid their 'Hawaiian' plate lunch and instead go to St. Louis D.I. down the road for your Hawaiian plate fix (Fridays only), they know how to cook and properly steam food.

Was there a few evenings ago cashier standing around, not offering any help to look for anything. Service was the worst. The store looked dark and shells unstocked I did not try any food thank God will not recommend this location to any family or friends going forward if I could give up zero stars, I would

Hey times! You got at least 15 people in line for plate lunches, 10/31/23 probably closer to 20-25 people tbh. Most of us only get one hour to buy food and eat it before we are to return to our jobs. Anyway to get either people who are a little more energetic and move a little faster or possibly even schedule another employee to help out on days like this?? At this rate I won't even have time to eat my food before I have to go back to work.. it doesn't help that employees move like molasses!

I've come to Times Kaimuki my entire life since, I literally grew up coming here. This is the grocery store my family comes to religiously & I've never had a bad experience until today. A few weeks ago I had to renew my license, I got a temporary one & they took my old one. I have no other form of ID so the temporary one is the only one I have, the DMV informed me that the temporary ID cannot be turned away and is a valid form of ID. You can catch planes with a temp, go to bars with a temp and buy liquor at a store with a temp. Today I was turned away from Times. Mind you I've used this temp many times to buy alcohol because we all know how long it takes for our new one to come in. I've never had a problem until today. I got to the register and the guy was already unfriendly and gave me the weirdest look. I put my items on the counter, got my reusable bag ready & got my wallet ready to show my ID. The whole time he's giving me the weirdest look then says "where's your ID" as I'm already grabbing it to show him, then he says "we won't take this". I immediately was shocked, I told him that it's a valid ID and has the barcode on the back to scan. (At this point I was already annoyed because of how unfriendly this guy was). He called one of his coworkers over the speaker and I got soooo embarrassed cause now it's causing a scene. The coworker comes and says "oh you gotta get the manager", he then calls the manager over the speaker and I get embarrassed again cause it's causing an unnecessary scene. The manager comes and doesn't even bother to grab my ID then says "we won't take that sorry" I asked her why and she said it's their policy. So what do they expect people to do when we have to renew our ID's and only have a temp? What's the whole purpose of a temp ID if we can't use it? They're literally the only place that gave me a hard time. If it's store policy why not keep up with Hawaii Laws? Or even bother to scan the barcode? It makes no sense. I left everything on the counter and walked out. I was super upset and also really embarrassed because it was made into a scene when it didn't have to. I felt so dumb and super annoyed. Moral of the story, if you have a temp ID don't go to Times. You can literally go everywhere else (even on an airplane and through Federal security), but not Times.

Honestly this Times is probably my go to for grocery shopping and also the plate lunches. I'll focus on a couple of things, firstly the plate lunches I have my go toos here Tuesdays they have the steak plates and they pack it on this ain't your little portions also they have either Crab Stuffed Pollock (delicious) or Baked Salmon (also very good) I love the fact you get 3 sides and a drink also in my opinion this times has really good sides Mashed potatoes, brown rice, white rice, wedges, mixed veggies, Okinawan sweet potato, toss salad, Mac salad, and sometimes corn. The people behind the deli counter are super friendly as is the staff in store (maybe it's just cuz I go so much).. the guys behind the poke counter equally as nice and I gotta say I've warmed up to Times poke they do have some good flavors one of my favorites is "Broke Da Mouth" that's the name of the poke but also describes the taste. Sometimes the parking lot can be packed but honestly inside doesn't seem that packed. I've been coming here since I was a little kid and I'm 35 now and I'll continue to come here based on the service and the selection they carry.

I like the rotisserie chicken, but they don't make that anymore. The fried chicken wings are good, but they cut the wings in half and call it two pieces. So, seven pieces is three and a half pieces for $12.00. What a rip off. Never bought that again.

Try local! Of the many Times Supermarket locations, the Kaimuki location stands out because: 1. covered parking 2. new local products (not all Times have the same local yummies) 3. shopping carts are CLEAN 4. shelves are fully stocked as with the frozen items- never have to ask 5. friendly staff Nuff said

If you want a plate lunch go somewhere else , especially if your Haole , each time I ordered same thing and gets smaller each time but notice da local boys in front of me get way more and each time the quality has gone down 5 times so today last time. Save your money McDonald's is better.

A smaller Times with a cozy feeling. Not as.much variety but has everything you'll probably need. Hard to maneuver around with a cart but easy to find items. Friendly and helpful staff.
