I tried to contact them several times. Left messages and they didn't bother to called me back. Now there's a recorded message saying they are too busy. I understand they are busy and it's a small business, but at least try to return calls. They might be busy now, but they'll need more customers in the future, won't they? I'm taking my business elsewhere. I appreciate their response below, to which they replied within minutes after I posted my review. But if you have time to reply to a negative review on Yelp, give customers a quick call, especially after they leave you messages. Small gestures like that show good customer service. I contacted other businesses that are also busy but they were accommodating and even made recommendations. We are a small community, we try to support small, local businesses, and it doesn't cost a thing helping each other. Thanks!

I needed the legs of my buffet cut 3 inches so that it could fit underneath my newly installed plantation shutters. I needed someone to cut them precisely so it could keep the factory look. I checked around and happy I found Satoshi. He cut the legs, matched the finish where they were cut, and added felt bottoms. I am very happy with the outcome and glad that my furniture doesn't look tacky with a bad modification job.

This a great shop and the team was great to work with. I needed to have some hardwood flattened for a project, and they were responsive, efficient, nice, and charged a very reasonable price for the work.

I have a small dining table which height is too high compare to regular ones. I contacted some carpenters & some construction supply companies if they could adjust its table height. Unfortunately none could do it. I was surfing the internet & "Satoshi Yamauchi's Custom Furniture" caught my attention due to good reviews. I drove to his shop with the help of my friend. Satoshi was very kind & helpful. Though my furniture is not a quality furniture like the ones that Satoshi creates, he was very down to earth & kind. Satoshi & his other team members were busy working on other projects, however Satoshi fixed my dining table in less than 10 minutes!!! After I got home, I read about Hida furniture because on their website, they mentioned that Satoshi is a skilled furniture maker from Hida. It was interesting to learn that Hida's wood work was first mentioned in the Japanese history book 1,300 years ago!!! OMGIf anyone who needs a beautiful quality custom furniture, Satoshi Yamauchi Custom Furniture is the one!!! Hawaii, we are lucky that we have a skilled master from Hida, Japan!!!P.S. Thank you so much for fixing my dining table problem. It is now perfect!!!

Satoshi and his wife Marcia were able to take my rough, hand-drawn sketch for a tv console with shelf and matching desk, and translate it to an elegant, timeless piece of furniture that turned our fragmented living room into a seamless space.

Beyond excellent woodworking and customer service/consultation to make a unique custom table, including with coordination with a furniture maker in Washington. We can't say enough good about the excellent communications we had to make this table exactly what we wanted!

They would get 10 stars if there were an option for that. Excellent communications to achieve a beyond excellent custom table made of monkeypod at an extremely reasonable price. We do not typically find service providers on the internet, but we did that here and it was a terrific experience.

I worked with Marcia and Satoshi on an office project for a client in downtown Honolulu. They did an outstanding job of transforming the the existing 80's laminate counter tops into live-edge monkeypod counterparts. Marcia was extremely helpful, very easy to communicate with, and I couldn't be more pleased! I would highly recommend Satoshi Yamauchi Woodworks for any custom woodworking job!

We love our beautiful monkeypod slab dining table. We were recommended to contact Marcia & Satoshi by our friends and we are very happy to have found them. First, Marcia came over to our house to get a feel of our home and decor. Satoshi and Marcia then came up with some designs. We appreciated their attention to detail and the time and focus they put to our project. Needless to say, we were stunned by Satoshi's craftsmanship. I believe he is one of the very few furniture makers who are able to build fine furniture.

We recently renovated our kitchen and dining areas. We were searching for a new dining table that would match the new wood flooring and decor. After looking at the many dining tables at all the local furniture companies, we found only veneer table tops that felt cheap. I could not find a solid hardwood table that would fit the new dimensions of the new dining area and could comfortably accommodate eight people. Through a referral from a happy client, I contacted Satoshi Woodworks and was pleasantly greeted by Marcia, who arranged a personal visitation to our home with Satoshi. They saw our new renovations to fully understand what we wanted and took exact measurements to ensure the table would perfectly fit our dining area to comfortably accommodate everyone sitting at the table. He offered to create a George Nakashima designed dining table to address my desire for comfortable leg space (not hindered by the table legs). The table was absolutely strong and sturdy. It was clean looking and smooth. My guests had nothing but compliments. Most importantly, it felt like a dining table that will last for many years and would be a great centerpiece for our open dinning/kitchen area. It was a pleasure working with Marcia and Satoshi. They take pride in their work to a level of pure perfection.

We had a couple of tables made for our home in Kahala. The 8 foot monkeypod slab dining came out really nice and Satoshi has far exceeded my expectation on quality. We appreciate your fine craftsmanship. We will cherish the tables for many many years to come!
